   Somehow a response like that is expected from him. Battling probably wasn’t too fun for him anymore and contests have a more organized procedure to them since they occur under supervision on set days. It might be better to not challenge him on it. Their experiences are very different.

   “Hmm… Yeah, I can see that! You sort of look like a Houndoom.” A ‘dark’, cool look, as Red would put it. “You’re good at picking… I still haven’t decided for myself. For now it’s Charizard.” Ideally they could become any pokemon they wanted but then again, being a Ditto isn’t all too appealing. Clearly this is something he’s given a lot of thought about and probably will continue to muddle over it for years to come. Unless of course, a perfect answer comes and hits him out of nowhere.

   “Sorry for keeping you all this time.” He apologizes almost solely from habit, just to cover himself if he’s annoying or boring. “It’s kind of fun to talk about weird things.”

“You think so?” He grins over at him. “Charizard huh? I can see it.” He gave a small nod. “Charizards a pretty badass Pokemon too, a good choice.” And a fire type, which was a plus. 

“Nah, it’s all good. I’m having fun talking with you, plus I didn’t really have any plans today anyway.” Reed gives a slight shrug. Though he had to admit, this wasn’t how he’d pictured spending his day, though he didn’t exactly have any objections. “Yeah it is. It’s nice to think about things you wouldn’t normally think about at times.”

  “Yeah, that’s true! I think it’s optional though.” He didn’t eat out enough to know the rules for sure but he had stopped by a few of the restaurants to look. They’re all pretty fancy and high-end standard which don’t really suit Red that well. It’s not a bad thing in the end– avoiding those places saved him money in the long run. “It sounds fun to me.” Even though he’d probably destroy the interior with his wild battle style.

  Reed brings up a fair point about being a pokemon. He’s not necessarily the type to nitpick his own far off ideas but he won’t pretend the negative sides don’t exist either.

  “Well, if I could live on my own or with a nice trainer then it would be good. I could have cool powers and I’d be able to understand humans and pokemon at the same time.” He pauses for a moment and rubs his chin. “But if you had to be one, which one would you pick?”

“Yeah but wouldn’t it be obnoxious to go in there to eat and just have trainers battling all around you. It’d be so noisy and just bothersome.” Maybe it was just that he didn’t like battling all that much. “It’s fun in theory, doesn’t seem like it would be in practice though.”

“Yeah, I suppose that part sounds pretty nice.” Though what were the chances of being caught by a kind trainer? “If I had to be one? Houndoom definitely. It fits me, plus I really like fire types.” He could totally imagine himself as a Houndoom running around with his little Nidoran on his back. Somehow he found that thought to be amusing.

   “Thanks… I appreciate it.” It’s a bit sad to think about but he smiles anyway.

   Red nods eagerly at the mention of Pokepuffs. There was no way to ignore those delicious looking treats. When he visits Kalos he makes sure to give him pokemon some. They’re the fanciest things he’s ever seen in his life.

   “I want to try one but I’m actually worried about how they’ll taste. If they’re bad I’d be so disappointed.” It’s almost not worth breaking the illusion but knowing him, he’d probably end up eating one anyway. When that day comes, Red will make sure to report his findings. “I think pokemon are pretty lucky in general. I’d love to be one instead of a human— but I guess they have downsides too.”

“I’ve never tried one so i’m afraid I can’t say. I’d assumed they wouldn’t taste good, but you never know. Kalos just seems to have fancy food in general really. I’ve heard so much about the restaurants and things. Apparently you actually battle in them while you wait for your food, it’s kind of ridiculous actually.” What if a person just wanted to eat in peace? Obviously that wouldn’t be the place to go.

“I’m not sure i’d like to be a Pokemon. Constantly have people attack me, throw Pokeballs at me, steal me. Doesn’t sound too appealing really.” Of course he had to be the downer in all the fantasys today.

   “So that no one could find me.” He decides to answer honestly without getting too in depth. “It’s a long story.” Probably not a fun one to tell to someone he was just starting to get along with. Maybe if they were to become close he might consider sharing it. Though, he’s not sure why someone would want to know in the first place.

   Red nods, sympathizing with Reed’s wish. It would be really nice if you could always know the right thing to do, or what things you would be good at so that you wouldn’t have to make mistakes. Mistakes are part of what make up a person and it’s unrealistic but a guy can dream!

   “Aw, really? I almost fell for how nice they looked too.” Poffins were like colorful muffins or cakes in his mind but in the end, that was too good to be true. “I guess with things like that someone has to take the risk to save everyone else the pain. I’ve eaten Buneary yogurt drops before. They taste like white chocolate.”

“Alright. Sounds rough, it might be best that I don’t push it.” He wasn’t going to pressure him into telling him, especially considering how he himself was hiding something very important from the other.

“Disappointing I know, but it’s the truth.” He gives a slight laugh. “Have you seen those treats from Kalos? The Pokepuffs? I swear those things look more delicious than actual cupcakes. I’m almost jealous of Pokemon for being able to eat them. I doubt they’d taste good to humans, just like with Poffins.” Why do Pokemon get all the pretty looking food?

“Yeah? What’d you go and forget? Maybe I can help…” she paused, thinking about offering her assistance in helping him find it but then glaring and crossing her arms. That was definitely beneath her. 

“Nevermind. What’d you forget? I’ve probably seen it around.” That was a better answer, at least. Not lifting a finger, but still opting to help if needed…the selfish Queen of Rocket didn’t exactly like doing things that didn’t benefit her in some way.

Damn, now he was going to have to turn this into some elaborate lie. He’d really been hoping to avoid something like this. “It’s nothing really, I just left something back at my apartment is all.” That sounded reasonable enough.

“I should , uh, probably go get that.” Reed takes a step back, trying his hardest to hide his fairly obvious nervousness.

  » He had been looking fora vacant clearing to have a picnic with his pokemon, though watching someone who seemed to be training their pokemon had caught Aubrey’s attention. Standing at the edge of the clearing he watched the man and his Ponyta with a smile.     ❝O-Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to interrupt you! No need to stop. Are you training for a Contest or something?❞ He drew closer, his eyes moving from the Ponyta to her trainer. ❝If you are…do you mind if I watch? It’s been some time since I’ve been in-..been to one. So watching someone train sounds fun~❞ « 

“Yeah, we’re going to enter a cute contest together.” Reed grins over at him, giving his Ponyta a gentle pat.  “We wouldn’t mind really, right girl?” The Pokemon in question gives a small neigh. “No objections here then. I will say that we’re not exactly professionals, so don’t have your expectations too high.”

Looking back at his Pokemon, he shoots her a grin. “Alright you ready to try and work with Buneary now? See if we can work out any combos?” Reaching a grabbing the Pokeball from his bag and tossing it up, releasing the small bunny Pokemon.

   “I heard of that too! I love it though. It’s probably because I lived on a mountain for a few years. I don’t feel the cold as much anymore.” This is one of the few regions he can go to that won’t overheat him which is a blessing.

   “Ohhh. Cool! I guess you were just fated to find them.” Red crosses his arms and nods and few times. That’s pretty lucky. He sort of hopes he can find something like that on accident but maybe that would be greedy, since he already knows he loves battling. “Ah, that actually reminds me. I was sort of wondering this but– people use poffins for contest pokemon, don’t they? Can humans eat them?”

“Why the mountains?” He tilts his head slightly. That seemed like a rather random place for a trainer to take residence. “If you don’t mind me asking of course.”

“I guess so. I just wish fate had come a bit sooner, y’know? Maybe that’s asking for a bit much.” Then again there was that saying ‘everything happens for a reason’ he supposed that would apply to all aspects of life, not just one event.

“Well humans can eat them. They just don’t taste very good to us. I would honestly recommend not eating them.” He’d of course had his moment of curiosity before and had tried them himself. “They look pretty but don’t taste like they look.”

She didn’t recognize him. Not at all, but the look on his face made her curious enough to loft an eyebrow in regard– of course she’d seen that look of fear on the face of people she dealt with, but. 

He was all but a stranger. “Mm. What’s wrong with your face, kid? See a ghost?” she smirked, her tone somewhat playful.

“N-No. It’s nothing.” Damn wasn’t he a lucky one today, attracted her attention too. “I just realized I forgot something was all.” He gave a nervous laugh, one hand rubbing the back of his neck. Honestly he wanted nothing he to just leave at this point, but that would likely only be more suspicious.

“Ponyta use Ember straight up then as the flames fall back down follow it up with Tail whip!” The Pokemon gave a nod of understanding  and preformed just as instructed initially though as the embers came down she missed with the Tail whip. 

“S’alright girl, we can try again.” He gently rubs the fire horse under the chin, giving her a slight grin. Hearing footsteps approach he glances to the side, noticing what seemed like another trainer. “Oh, you wanna use the clearing? We’re about done here.”
