His first instinct was so be concerned.  It wasn’t unlike Soundwave to overdo it- a fact he was still coming to terms with.  Calculating, highly intelligent...could hardly take care of himself.  Cosmos supposed that just came with having the biggest spark in the universe.

Of course he accepted Soundwave’s request with open arms, quite literally.  He held the blue mech tightly, wishing he could take away his exhaustion.

“You should refuel before you nap.”

Cosmos huffs a soft ‘oof!’ as he’s lightly smooshed beneath Soundwave.

“Soundwave...?  Are you ok?”

The cartoon-y image his mind conjured up of Prime sailing end over end through the vastness of space ended up far funnier than it really should have.  Cosmos put a stop to his rotating, looking at Deepspace while floating upside down.

“Hopefully that won’t be a problem.  I mean, either way I’d rather you just didn’t, but Prime is busy being…Prime.  Probably won’t see him at all.” 

“Good. I might be neutral, but I am not a fan of that mech at all.” Deepspace growled, noting his little green ‘moon’ orbiting him and reaching a digit out for them to grasp if they wished.

“I don’t like how you are sent out here alone to get space madness while they sit nice and warm on solid ground.”

Wordlessly, he reached out to grab onto Deepspace, his three-servos dwarfed by the massive mech’s hand.  His suspicion towards the shuttle had long since dwindled, but Cosmos couldn’t stop the crushing surreal feeling that threatened to overwhelm him.

No one had ever spoken to him like this.  No one had ever...cared for him like this.  And Cosmos wasn’t about ready to fool himself into thinking that Deepspace cared about him because of...him.  He was just naturally protective.  Big meets small and seemingly helpless and all that.  But all the same...

“Except I’m not alone anymore.  Er, at least not completely.”

“I will stop by on my next cargo run. I don’t need a berth, something to prop under my helm like a drum works just fine if you do accomidate me. Just, keep in mind one wrong word and I will punt your commanding officer into orbit as said satelite”

But Cosmos looked content and much calmer now so Ds had clearly done something right in the little UFO’s optics. That was good.

“I am sure a fuel drum cut in half would work for me. You actually contemplating trying to smuggle me back to your base as a stray, Cosmos?”

“W-well.  I think actual smuggling would be nearly impossible, but I think you could- should definitely come visit!”

       Oh! He wasn’t expecting a genuine response! He figured his sarcasm would’ve been clearer. This wasn’t bad, though! Tailgate always did like learning. His visor brightened, and he decided that he would try to pay genuine attention. 

      “Neat! I didn’t know all that.” He couldn’t simply listen, though. There were bound to be things that Tailgate didn’t understand, and already he had a question. “Where is the Milky Way Galaxy? And what does Saturn look like?” 

“Just gimme a second...”  Cosmos rummaged in his subspace for a moment before he was able to produce a data pad.

“The Milky Way Galaxy is located in what the humans call ‘The Local Group.’  It contains at least a dozen others- but the humans find a particular fascination with another called the Andromeda Galaxy.  There are uhhh... here.”

Cosmos held the data pad close for Tailgate to see, the area highlighted for easier viewing.

“Saturn is a gas giant, second largest in the system.  Hydrogen and helium outer layer with a nickle-iron core.”

“Just start chilling in a docking bay. I’ll make it my ‘doghouse’. All I really need is a recharge cable. I have slept in worse places that a hangar really doesn’t phase me as a place of residence. 

Besides. Think of the expressions.” But he’s just going to rest a digit on the edge of the disk and slowly swipe his digit down to make the little ufo slowly backflip. 

“And it isn’t boring, it is a careful art”

Mirroring Deepspace’s pose, Cosmos moves to a reclining state as he rotates, “Mhm yeah, the careful art of being boring.”

At present, he couldn’t recall the last time he got to sit around (or float, whatever) and just talk, and with someone to actually talk to that wasn’t himself!  Despite their rocky start- with additional minor blunt force trauma, Cosmos had to admit: this was pretty nice.

“I’ll help you hunt down a bowl big enough to put energon in, it’ll be great.”

       He looked aside again, as if he were embarrassed at not having remembered that but wanted to act more blasé. “How gloomy is cosmic dust?” Ahh, a smart guy act, huh? 

“Oh, well...!  It depends on just where you find it.  ‘Cosmic dust’ is actually an umbrella term.  Some forms of cosmic dust can be really beautiful!  For example-!”

He truly did enjoy questions.   

“Circumplanetary dust make up the ring systems that can be found around planets- Saturn is the most iconic case in the Solar System of the Milky Way Galaxy, though its rings are also made with chunks of ice and rock.”
