People find it easy to hate Kevin Day because he’s an imperfect victim. No he’s not whimpering and kind. No he didn’t prioritise someone else’s survival over his own. No he didn’t rebel and chose to adapt to survive. He isn’t any less worthy of empathy for being “a coward” or for any of the above things.
So I was looking something up to answer an ask and I came across this gem:

What do you mean you're gonna write "McLaren were honouring the Papaya Rules when Oscar Piastri was in the lead, allowing the Australian to pit before Lando Norris" and then in the same fucking article say "Piastri went on the radio and blasted McLaren's race engineers for not keeping his positioning a priority."
How did you watch the race and not see that if they'd left the Bum out one more lap, he was coming out behind Hamilton 😭😭😭 There was traffic for everyone. oscar was literally told:

I’d actually argue oscar got lucky with his dnf because now he gets to play the victim and claim he otherwise had the win in hand when, I truly believe, in reality, he very much did not have the win in hand
Piastri fans only like the yaoi side of the f1. Ask them whats undercut or race pace. Ask how good is their driver at tire maintenance, and why lando was way faster than him.

I think new fans forget the main point of this is that it’s a sport, not a drama. And new fans can’t really see what it means to make the best out of an objectively bad car, hence why their main point 2024/2025 was how long it took Lando to win a race vs piastri - but back in the day Lando was pretty widely considered the best of the rest/capable of putting that shitbox mclaren higher than anyone expected
Either way I hope the fans fizzle out along with piastri’s career, I don’t think they’ll learn any strategy besides every other car pulling over for piastri so their poor 4th year rookie can win a wdc
maybe this is mean of me to say but I genuinely think piastri fans are stupid or they just got into the sport and haven’t put any effort into learning about it
maybe starting from the beginning of drive to survive would be more beneficial than wherever they’re at
Again, he was not asking to swap positions. He was asking to undercut oscar, to be allowed to pit first.
One day we'll look back and talk about how Lando Norris was the only McLaren employee who wanted to win anything ever.
They were prioritizing the driver with the 7th fastest average race pace to fuck over the driver with the outright fastest race pace. He was right to question things and right to put them all, including Oscar, in their places.

McLaren has favored him so much, we're on Year 3 of him blatantly EXPECTING the team to fuck over his teammate solely to benefit him and not the team's overall result:
"in the moment i was hoping maybe they would not pit lando because of that incident , to at least give me the chance to stay in the lead."
So, yet again Andrea, where's this energy when it comes to Oscar Piastri? Because he's not skilled enough for McLaren to keep pulling these "rules for thee [Norris], but not for me" games to keep him pacified. He's not a Verstappen-level talent.

this team is a fucking joke because what do you mean Lando has to take a 10 place drop because Lando's car can't stay in one piece all first half of the season
and then he puts on a mega stint to still be running in the top 5 with no pit stop just sick pace and tyre management
and then his teammate won't fucking move despite it being the best TEAM option
and then Lando gets told "no yo-yo racing" aka your teammate can but not you never you
and then the shittiest stop we've seen in a while that costs him MULTIPLE places
and now he's got 12 laps to carve back through the field to once again salvage this
I hate this team bar Lando they make his life so difficult sometimes
(obviously this is just a vent post I have full faith in Lando to grab back as much as he can it's just so frustrating)

I can’t tell if they’d hit on Andrew to piss off Neil or hit on Neil to piss off andrew. I do vaguely think people find Neil more off putting than Andrew and they’d have an easier chance to say something to Neil’s face so maybe?
