absolutely forgot to include this in my last post, but it would devastate my heart and brain to not immortalise this memory on this account. this term also marks the term in which i was invited to dinner by my favourite author & academic. the woman who has inspired my entire dissertation, and got me interested in my academic niche. i am so incredibly lucky, and so incredibly grateful. it is also a wonderful testament to her character that she was willing to meet up with me, and let me share my own ideas with her - no less as an undergrad!
sometimes the academia hierarchy here really gets me down, being an undergrad can often feel like your work is inferior, or less important than the postgrads or fellows around you. the fact that this woman was so incredibly kind and curious about my research to invite me to speak with her, despite lacking the 'prestige' of being a postgrad, will forever stick with me. thank you for taking me seriously. thank you, Carol J. Adams, for existing. thank you, thank you, thank you.
have severely slacked re:posting - term happened. it was a lot. finished up my last supervision essay of term this morning. since my last post i've nailed down three chapters of my dissertation. nine essays + a dissertation in an eight week term isn't for the week. hence my absolutely pathetic posting consistency
fingers crossed i'll have more time for tumblr-ing over the easter break. term ends on thursday, i go home on saturday. there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel! yippee!
It’s a privilege to study, many women around the world are barred from this human right: to read, write and learn. Be grateful anytime your pen touches paper, or you are learning theorems developed by intelligent, hardworking men and women from ages ago.
It’s a pleasure and a privilege to learn. Not only is it a privilege to study, but you should be aiming and striving to take science, medicine, law, philosophy, art further than the marker we have reached. It’s a comforting thought to think, from your work generations of humanity down the line will benefit.
How many brilliant women were in the shadows of amazing feats of science and technology and life changing patents? Contribute while you can. If you pour into knowledge - it will pour back into you.

for all the pretty pictures i post there are multiple hours of hyperventilating and sobbing over my workload (like right now) #realacademia

the weather app told me it would be cold. i, for some reason, believe i would be above experiencing coldness. i suffered resultantly.
today i finished up the final readings for an essay i (fingers crossed!) should start writing up tomorrow, also semi-planned that essay. dissertation-wise, i made some progress with my annotated bibliography and !! excitingly !! started on the thematic coding of my data (woo!)
let’s pray i wake up in time for my lecture tomorrow lol
Cyanocitta cristata | Molothrus ater | Lanius ludovicianus | Euphagus cyanocephalus | Quiscalus quiscula versicolor (aeneus)
Plate XVII | Die Nordamerikanische Vogelwelt (1891)
survived both supervisions today, visited the cat shrine in the library as a treat

two supervisions tomorrow... two essays due next week... dissertation deadlines looming... microsoft word and i will be having some serious altercations pretty soon...
today i worked on my literature review (while on a 2.5 hour train journey...) and also did some essay prep for a supervision essay i have due soon - not a whole bunch, but GWR trains drain me :')
