Common misconceptions about puritans include joyless marriages and rampant spousal abuse. From what I've researched (admittedly not like, loads) that wasn't the case - Belos comes from a culture where people typically married for love, often in their twenties.

Obviously he's... way older than that. And he's been kept away from the human realm, I wonder if he sees himself as having missed out? Combining that with his abandonment issues, would he, at this stage in his life, consider love a blessing, laud his partner as the fruit of his labours? His reward, his salvation for centuries of loneliness?

Idk I HC Belos as being way too much, way too soon. He falls hard and fast and is daydreaming about their wedding before their courtship has even commenced. He wants to know everything and anything about them and he views them as his, and himself as theirs, so surely it's not crossing a boundary to scry on them? Why would it be strange if he wants to claim them, so ostentatious it's like a neon sign - flashy jewellery and fancy clothes marking their status, visible lovebites marking their skin? Any competition can and will be nullified - it's well within his power to ensure there's no threat to the promise they made one another.

In short, I personally don't think he's capable of "keeping it casual."
