OUR MUSE'S INVENTORY.
[original meme from @treasurechestrpmemes.]
rules: list what your muse carries in their pockets or bags in their everyday life. (optional: explain their significance.) repost, don’t reblog.
earphones with the cord. customized in a bright aqua hue, consistently tangled in a ball in the safety of her oversized hoodie, cat teeth nips at the bottom of the cords. these earphones serve as a mechanism to block out sounds when she is not plugged into the cybersphere. one of many pairs she owns, including the larger, more expensive virtual reality headset that is stationed at her computer desk. she does not need the headset to enter the avatar form.
extra batteries and portable chargers. for her multitude of devices that she keeps on her form. charges her laptop, her handheld gaming device.
hair ties, scrunchies, bobby pins, bows. anything to keep her hair up and away with little maintenance. occasionally, her pockets look like a burst of hair accessories, of various colors, and sizes. though the avatar allows versatility of styles and the ability to change it on whelm, she generally keeps her thick, natural hair in a high bun on her head. she has little time outside the avatar to do much with her hair. the styles outside of the hologram form are relaxed and match her attire of t-shirts with printed images of anime characters or other neon graphic designs, oversized sweaters, sweatpants, or oversized jeans.
loose change. for the bus, more often than not, she relies on public transportation to navigate the city.
student id. for the private high school she attends. the camera caught her off guard, she's squinting in the image at the bright light shining above her head, and the photographer refused to re-do it. she's had the awful image since freshman year, last year.
a necklace with a digitized image. it resembles a barcode, but once scan, reveals a projected image of her and a cousin --- a dark-skinned shapely woman with long locs that touch her back. image taken a few days before the woman was promoted to captain. she doesn't talk much about it.
card that reads INCOGNITO. it resembles the poster in her bedroom, an anonymous face, and block lettering announcing their affiliation.
a rainbow gradient bookbag in multi-hues of neon pink, yellow, orange, and blue. with an assortment of pockets, and compartments, overflooded with things. pins of animated characters attached, alongside quirky small clouds and mushrooms. a single aqua spider pin dangles from the zipper, a black fist.
portable gaming system. a hand-held gaming device is a must, similar to a switch in its aesthetic design, slightly more advanced given the technological capabilities of her universe. it's neon pink, and the cover is clustered with stickers. some resembling japanese animations, others familiar cartoon figures from her youth.
laptop. gives her access to cyberspace at any given time, specifically useful when she is in school or away from home, and she needs to transgress into avatar form; the portability allows her to do what she needs to do in a more discreet measure. all individuals in her universe can transfer their consciousness into the avatar state with a chip built into the cerebral cortex --- cybernetic implants. the chip connects to the laptop, then utilizing anonymizing tools, she becomes spider-byte.
RFID/NFC Reader. frequency identification (RFID) or near field communication (NFC) systems, granting her access to restricted areas or hidden information. more often than not, in her spider persona, she has to infiltrate areas that are off-limits to her.
fritos, doritos, an assortment of various snacks. she consistently has various chips in the food compartments of her backpack, the kind of classmate others know will always have something edible on her person. she likes the crunchiness, the saltiness, and flavors to keep her distracted as she works. occasionally, her food palette resembles that of a child.
homework assignments. marked with full points, she's a good student, and her passions in computer science and mathematics translate to the classroom --- though she cares little for english courses with standard grammar and dictation, she takes them because they are required. plans to attend stanford university upon graduation.
literature texts on black activism and hacktivism. racializing surveillance in the virtual is uncharted territory, unfair biometrics, and lack of privacy in avatar form have her learning, and gaining knowledge to understand these complexities. *the spider virus has altered her in ways that allow her spider persona to remain incognito in the avatar sphere.
college early acceptance letter. she has yet to open it.
a few comics and mangas. she keeps physical copies of the issues she reads and rotates them out accordingly. prefers to hold the latest edition in her hands, than read through them in cyberspace. the only thing she prefers in the physical realm. some of the older copies belonged to her aunt.
