I think the fandom's reinterpretation of Alice as someone who is more sensible than reality sucks all the appeal out of her. She is that but she is also counterproductive, lazy, easily influenced, oblivious and self-contradictory. She is the subversion of the skeptical character, she is sensible and has a point but on the other hand lacks determination and patience due to how she tends to avoid situations that require quick thinking which consequently makes her ineffective. And that is why she is so interesting.
