Trainer Time I be been looking back on training records some of my best cycling was when I did a fair amount of indoor riding. So, I started back on the trainer.
Mamil
Well, yes, I guess I’d say that I am one of those Middle Aged Men In Lycra. Speaking of that, there is a movie being distributed through Demand Films titled MAMIL. There is a showing in ABQ for February 21. The link to the site: Mamil Film. Look to be fun time and an entertaining film. #mamil

January 7, 2018 - Sunday's ride
January 7, 2018 – Sunday’s ride
Sunday’s ride was cool, 50-55 deg. and windy. Winds W -15 mph for much of the ride. Good, ride trying not to push things. I toggled the bike computer to mode that shows Time Cadence HR 10 sec Watts Notice no speed there. It is what it is at this point. Goal was to keep as much of the ride as possible 115-125 bpm HR and Cadence in the 90’s – Time goal was 90 minutes.…

Saturday's Ride... Breaking the funk...
Saturday’s Ride… Breaking the funk…
Well, the first point in breaking a funk is recognizing you’re in one. Hi! I’m Brian and I’m in a training funk. SO, what do I do to break this? Well, what I did was ask Lisa, aka, Mrs. CycleBri for help. One thing that I do really well is being accountable. So, I discussed with her to see about having her support my training (I know, duh – but it works for me) and also have her hold me…

In a funk
Really really really need to get back at it on the bike. Just been in a funk the last couple of days. When I’m on riding or running much I get kind of cranky and feel out of sorts. Also, now that the holidays are over, there is a let down. SO, what to do? getting out on the bike, hitting the gym, etc. are all things that would be great. Just need to “find the time”.

Changing workouts this week… I realized that since my exercise has been sporadic that last several months, I needed to be less aggressive about my training plan. SO, I changed today’s planned weights to Planned Day off.

Reflections on 2017 - Part 1
Reflections on 2017 – Part 1
Wow, what a year. Lots of changes, mostly off the bike. The timing of this post has special significance. December 19, 2016… What a day. Got word from my boss, needed to see me, swing by his office, how does 4 PM sound? Background: was working for a non-profit that had started to experience funding issues – I’d known about this since summer and had started to look for another position. As I…

Training 2018 kickoff
OMG!!! I haven’t been this out of shape in years. I’m not proud to say that, or to post this (for whoever will actually read this). All I can say it has been a event packed year with lots of life happening. Other posts over the next weeks or months will fill in some of those gaps for anyone who is interested enough to read this series of posts. BTW – if you actually read this stuff please…

96 Days!
Well, Iron Horse is now 96 days away. Rode to the base of the Sandia Peak Tram today. About 40 miles and a little over 2000′ of climbing. Still feeling like I need to work more on my climbing. Day was beautiful and wasn’t even windy at all – amazing for spring in NM! Rode my Moots Compact road bike. I was feeling a little stretched out over the front end, especially on the descent. May…

Spring cycling
Things with cycling have been up and down lately. Since mid March have had my Grandmother’s passing and funeral, trip to see my son, Darrin in Denver, a colonoscopy, Oral Surgery and a viral infection. Through it all I’ve been able to get out on the bike some and when looking at training log, I’m in better shape Than I have been at this time in previous years.

Reflections of changes
The last 15 months have brought a lot of changes to my life.
Left Apple. Went to work for a small consulting firm. Due to money problems, the consulting firm didn’t pay me for almost 3 months. Left that job. Took a “dream” job with a Non-Profit. Got back on the bike.
Lots of riding over the summer, not too much lately. I have my eye on several events in the new year. Now need to get back in…

Off to the Prairie
Those of you that may not know me personally may not know that I spend a lot of time in Colorado. Most of my family hails from Colorado, my family goes back over 100 years in that state. I associate most closely with two cities most closely from growing up, one of those cities is Durango.
Well, why is this posting titled off to the Prairie? You see, my family’s roots are actually in…

Spring again
Spring has blown into New Mexico. Allergies have flared up. Yesterday while prepping for my ride I looked at the weather. Winds were expected to pick up again.
I’m already tired of the wind.
I didn’t want to skip my ride – BUT didn’t want to deal with a stiff wind – 15-30 mph.
That’s when I decided to pull out the beater MTB – better known as Frankenbike, or Frank for short. Some air in the…

Busy Tying
Well, this is the first post for this blog… I’ll see how it goes.
I’ve been tying a lot of flys lately. Over 100 in the last month. For me that is a lot. Most of these have been Hare’s Ear Nymph patterns.
I’ll take some pictures and post soon.

Changing leaves
Was on a couple of rides along the Rio Grande river over the last week. The colors of the leave are starting to fade and fall. It makes me somewhat sad.
The good news is that it’s getting closer to winter and also to being able to ski.
