Just saying but the negative aspects of capitalism is literally what is holding the world back from being sustainable. The only reason we don’t have safe drinking water, shelter, food, medicine, education, and clean energy for every person on this earth is because it wouldn’t be profitable for the 0.1% of the world’s population whose entire income is based solely around limiting those resources for lower class and impoverished people.

The only reason why we don’t live in a solarpunk world right now is because no one has bothered to make it yet.

We’ll have to make it ourselves, and we’ll have to help each other make it. That’s why it is solarpunk.

Donate to One Acre Fund, which provides training and capital to farmers (making them more productive and pulling them out of poverty) in various east African countries

Donate to Bridges to Prosperity, which provides technical expertise, money, and volunteers, to help local people build and maintain their own footbridges in extremely isolated rural areas

Because most people never see farm animals being their most natural selves, people tend to think of them as almost inert. When any animal other than a dog is playful or affectionate, people say, “That cow (or pig, etc.) ‘thinks he’s a dog,’ or is ‘acting like a dog’” The reality is, most farm animals naturally romp, play, nuzzle, think, have best friends and show affection.

imagine if every home/property owner used their lawns and land to grow food like such a wild concept i know but like imagine all the saved money increased health exercise and time spent outdoors, and surplus! all that food could be shared, given away, donated, cooked, preserved, but instead we’ve become reliant on Big Stores for everything we need in our lives

Just because you live in a capitalist society doesn’t mean you have to accept it

Grow food out of your grocery-bought vege scraps.

Steal cuttings from big nursery chains.

Buy second hand clothes - the industry THRIVES on clothes being thrown out, so that people buy more. Defy that!!

Use the SHIT out of the things you buy. Milk every last drop of usefulness from them. Reuse, repair, repurpose.

Learn to cook as best you can. Its cheaper and will mean you arent as dependent on industries that mistreat people, animals and the environment (fast food, processed/prepackaged food, animal agriculture).

Be friendly and present in your community. Share your produce. Encourage caring and interdependence. Support local businesses; this is better than buying from chains. Capitalism profits on people feeling that they need to buy things for themselves - that they need to FEND for themselves. Communities can use way less resources if we share and connect!
