āFeminism can be a friend to science. It not only improves how science is done by pushing researchers to include the female perspective, but science in turn can also show us that weāre not as different as we seem. Research to date suggests that humans survived, thrived and spread across the globe through the efforts of everyone equally sharing the same work and responsibilities. For most of our history, we lived hand in hand. And our biology reflects this.ā
Reading Inferior has been extremely eye-opening, not only because it investigates gaps in scientific research, or because of the new research and scientists it introduced me to, but because it has the potential to make us radically rethink the story of us.

Hannibal was a weak b*tch for succumbing to nominative determinism. Oh you eat people cause your name rhymes with cannibal? Boo, foh with that shit what kind of spineless puppet are you. I'm going to name my son Brenocide and raise him to be a Zen gardening consultant to flex on the Fates.

being in your early twenties is like [grocery shopping alone] [having instant noodles for dinner] [remembering random details about that one friend you haven't spoken to in five years] [feeling overwhelming guilt for every purchase that isn't strictly "necessary"] [having midday naps] [finding out through facebook that the girl who was mean to you in high school has a husband and a baby] [falling a little in love with every stranger on public transport] [pretending you're not afraid of being alone] [wondering when you'll feel like a fully realized person] [listening to bands you liked in middle school] [blinking and it's suddenly december] [failing to imagine yourself ten years from now] [feeling like you're running out of time]
On June the 14th the constitutional court in Belgium stated that prohibition of wearing religious signs in an establishment of higher education does not constitute a violation of freedom of religion nor a violation of the right to human dignity which includes the right to education. This declaration meant that Hijab-wearing women donāt have the right to get higher education. Some will, unfortunately, give up on their dreams and some will be forced to remove the hijab to get an education. āI was in a school establishment where wearing a hijab was forbidden. Therefore, every morning, when I go to school, I had to take it off and put it in my bag. I had the feeling that I was enduring microaggressions from a system that was supposed to protect meā. #HijabisFightBack was a way to protest this discrimination. āš½ The right to education should not be negotiable. A gentle reminder to all that the first university the world ever saw was founded by a Muslim woman. Today, we have to beg to be able to wear a hijab andĀ get an educationĀ at the same time ā both of which are fundamental rights that our women are being stripped of.Ā
Hereās a petition that calls for the removal of the ban on wearing religious symbols in Belgian higher education! The description of the petition is written in Dutch, but Iām sure that a quick google translate will help you with understanding it!
