hey remember when people said we gotta keep talking about this and then two days passed and it just went quiet. anyways
it basically died again so I have to unfortunately remake it again. my name is eroch, i am disabled + live with my wife who is also disabled. I cannot work as we have one car that is being used all day and I am, again, disabled. my wife does work but his job cuts his hours as they see fit (we literally just had a week where they gave him Three Hours.)
we really need help. anything at all. we are struggling to stay afloat. we cannot afford food or medicine or anything else ever because our entire paycheck goes to our 450$ monthly car payment and various credit debts. please please help us if you can.

thatcher death day anniversary
worth noting btw, this video is not just an unrelated funny clip. limmy streamed this live on justin.tv the day she died (he was also not shirtless for any of the stream till he began this moving, heartfelt tribute)
sorry to keep bumping shop stuff, but I could use a bit of catching up on bills and paying for transit to my new job this week! thank you for looking and reblogs super appreciated.

US Book ban on LGBTQIA books
The nationwide book ban bill, HR 7661, has progressed out of committee and into the House. Here's what you need to know to take action.
At least hit the shiny repost button if you're going to do nothing else. This should not stand.
Stop the bill dead in its tracks. LGBTQIA people have a right to be represented in books.
“HR 7661 is not only an anti-LGBTQ+ bill, written within the framework of the right’s anti-trans priority, but it’s also a bill angling to push school choice. This would be yet another opportunity to promote and expand a federal voucher scheme that would steal money from public institutions so wealthy people could use taxpayer money for their students’ private or homeschool education. HR 7661 applies only to public institutions, opening the door for legislators to tell people that if they don’t like what’s happening in public schools, they can simply choose something else.”

This ban must be stopped.

“make yourselves impossible to ignore. 10,000 signatures on twitter is a lot but 10 unique personal emails is enough to derail an entire council session.”
I was in a city council meeting last week about defunding the police and one of the council members mentioned multiple times that she’d been inundated with calls and emails all that day saying to defund the police.
[ID: Two screenshots of a twitter thread by alex flanigan, anti-fascist @Coff33Detective from June 12, 2020 beginning at 11:25 AM that reads: hi! i work in local government and community management, and i’m here to tell you a secret: it is like, really, really easy to overwhelm the people who work in your local government. especially right now. especially on things they can actionably do or impact.
you may not know this, but i bet your city or town or municipality has a website. i bet that website has some contact forms or email addresses on it. i bet you can use them to put together a message in about 5 minutes! i bet it’s almost as easy as signing a national petition.
which is to say: i’m noticing, like most other people, that the national level discussion on really important and long overdue issues is flagging. but the internet and news cycle is not the only battleground, and you will be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to—
—fight those battles at home, on your own turf, with much more immediate impact, and they are so, so important.
I am begging you: make my job, and the jobs of people like me, difficult right now. flood us with demands. make yourselves impossible to ignore. 10,000 signatures on twitter is a lot but 10 unique personal emails is enough to derail an entire council session. End ID]
I’ve been a city council observer with the League of Women Voters for nearly a year, and I have witnessed the following:
A few guys voicing their anxiety about speeding on a street where their children play and suggesting a radar speed sign. Despite catching all of two meetings where this was mentioned, I walked back home one day and–yep–there was a radar speed sign up.
A persistent force of 3-5ish loud residents coming to zoning and council meetings because they did not want a drive through style restaurant moving into a particular area where there were already major issues with traffic congestion and safety. This eventually resulted in a Chik-fil-a having its planning proposal shot down by council such that the lot is now likely to house an Aldi. I am getting low cost groceries instead of bigotry chicken in my neighborhood because of a D&D party’s worth of regular speakers.
A turnout of residents shouting down an attempt to reduce the amount of funding for the community Juneteenth celebration until Council backed down. One meeting. Roughly a dozen people + their kids speaking about the significance of the holiday. The celebration ended up having its full funding restored.
In my experience, it is incredibly easy to bully local politicians and get some sort of results, especially in small municipalities. If you have something that you want to see happen at the local level, seriously try to contact your local officials and see what you can make happen.
I single-handedly got them to double the number of chickens you are allowed to keep in my former town.
After 822 days, Gaza has been completely erased nothing remains. We are trapped here; no one can leave.Life in Gaza is being slaughtered slowly. We live like ghosts without shelter, without hope, without a future. Our children are being forcibly driven into loss, devoured by hunger, cold, and disease in deadly silence.
What is happening is a crime committed before the eyes of the world, and we are forgotten without a voice, without anyone to remember us.
We will not forgive anyone who witnesses this injustice and chooses silence instead of offering any help.
Our suffering never ends. The occupation continues its crimes, ignoring any ceasefire, destroying our homes and killing our children day after day. We plead with you to carry our voice to the world you are our only hope.
Our suffering intensifies these days with the falling rain. Deadly cold pierces our torn tents and the remnants of our destroyed homes, and our children tremble from the cold without blankets or warmth. The rain floods us, diseases pursue us, and the bleeding pain continues in cruel silence before a world that watches and does not move.
Life here has exhausted us. We are not asking for sympathy; we are begging just to stay alive. Your donation or sharing could save our lives.

If I want to support people who have been arrested by ICE, is it worth donating to a highly rated immigrant legal defense org? Do they do different work than public defenders?
Yes, absolutely they do!!! They do the real work keeping people in the country; all we can do is some Brer Rabbit fuckin tricks to avoid ICE shipping them off immediately.
(And to the FBI agents reading this in court in some future universe as an indication of an intention to break the law, nonono!! Nice try! I adhere to the duties of a lawyer without breaking federal law, even the unconstitutionally expanded anti-harboring statute that has been used to target lawyers.)
I’m feeling some resentment these days towards immigration lawyers, but here’s the thing.
1) Immigration law has eliminated all fee waivers.
Previously if you were poor and were doing, say, an asylum case, you didn’t have to pay thousands of dollars in court costs because you were poor and seeking asylum. All fee waivers like this are gone. Everyone pays. If you can find an organization taking donations to pay those costs too, jump on it.
I’m sick and sad and tired of my clients not being able even to pay court costs to get a tiny chance.
2) I’m often mad that they can’t take my clients’ immigration cases. This is because they’re flooded and overwhelmed. I try to keep the anger aimed where it belongs but it still hurts.
Go ahead and donate.
Slight correction: the July 4, 2025 budget bill eliminated several of the most commonly-used immigration court fee waivers and created several new fees that can't be waived, but many fee waivers still exist and can be applied to many immigration processes!
Suggestions for orgs to donate to:
Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project
Black Alliance for Just Immigration
Al Otro Lado
Haitian Bridge Alliance
National Immigrant Justice Center
Immigration Equality
The Florence Project
Disclosure: I work with, or have worked with in the past, all of these orgs. I am not paid directly by any of them. However your donation may benefit me indirectly by making my job and my clients' lives easier.
My mistake! This is good corrected info.
The House has already passed the spending bill that gives ICE more money. The Senate returns to session on Tues, Jan 27th (tomorrow) and the deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown is Jan 30th.
Now is the time to contact your senators to tell them not to give ICE more money.
I've put together a page with a few links and resources on actionable steps, including scripts for calling your senators, and easy templates for emailing them. Calling is better, but doing one is better than none.
I hope the page of links can be a resource for those who might easily feel overwhelmed with ways to help (I am that way myself). I'm sure it's far from perfect, but I hope it helps. Please take a moment to check it and see what ways you can act.

🔴 BREAKING — One of the hardest nights we’ve endured:Relentless artillery and airstrikes, with dust and the smell of gunpowder filling the air. Not only this but also we have a new evacuation from Gaza to the middle and we need your support we need 3000$ to move from here because of the bad transportation and the high prices. We need your solidarity‼️‼️😭
I'm Areej Kasab(Shatat ), a mom of three kids under 5 old and I need your help in my new evacuation we need at least 3000$ to move our things from the North of Gaza to the south. Transportation here are so expinsive and we need help right now ‼️
The occupation forces people to leave their homes by sheer pressure, but displacement itself is another tragedy:
Costs that most families in Gaza — already living below zero — simply cannot bear.
Crippling overcrowding in unsafe, tiny areas.
Endless suffering with no way out
✋ In the middle of all this, my family — like most Palestinian families in Gaza — is starving and stripped of everything.
👉 Your support is the only lifeline helping us survive hunger and endure these endless horrors.

I’m from Gaza, and the cold this winter is unbearable. We are a small orphan family with no provider, living without heating or enough blankets. Every day becomes harder and more painful.
We humbly ask for any kind of support — warm clothes, blankets, or even a share or kind word. Your help, no matter how small, can bring warmth and hope to our home.

May God bless everyone who stands with us🙏
War doesn’t end when the bombs stop.
People think war ends with a ceasefire. But for us, it’s just another kind of battle.
How do we rebuild a home that no longer exists?
How do we find work when everything has been taken from us?
How do we escape when the cost of leaving is impossible?
How do we afford surgery for my mother-in-law when survival itself is already too expensive?
The weight of these questions is crushing, and I carry them every second of every day.
If you can, please help by sharing our story. Awareness is survival. Hope is action. And even the smallest kindness can change everything.

here's screencaps of the scripts if anyone wants to use them. I recommend putting them in your own words and shortening them. lawmakers have every email and phone call logged by the issue. you don't have to give them a big long rationale, they are just looking at how many people are opposed/in support and they weigh the numbers. supposedly calls are more effective than email, but if you're gonna email, don't use the scripts word for word. Make them a little unique/personal if you can. if you're gonna call and you don't want to talk to a human, you can call at night and leave a message. make sure you tell them where you live and let them know you do not want a response from them (otherwise they might send you a written letter in response and personally I'd rather not have my taxpayer dollars go towards getting a canned response from them when I want them to hear from ME).
