the whole “Thank you, Chainsaw Man” chapter is so cruel in my mind. like, there was no guarantee that a world without Pochita/The Chainsaw Devil would have given Denji back all of the people he cared about like that.

there was no guarantee Power would have saved him without the relationship they steadily developed over the Public Safety arc. Nayuta would not have had the level of control that Makima did to run the Public Safety department. saving Asa from accidentally killing Bucky would have completely changed the dynamic of her life – ie. not dying to the Justice Devil and not needing to be saved as she was that night – thus eliminating the reason she started pursuing Denji in the first place.

that whole chapter took away everything Denji ever cared about and erased it from existence. including Pochita who saved Denji because he wanted to see his dreams come true.

high key wondering if he’s gonna end up facing the Pain Devil or Memory Devil for this as a way to introduce them. because all of this is so subliminally terrible to Denji for it just to be a dream.
