Morning fail after 2.5 miles, I scratched my ear realized I forgot to turn on my iPod. Oops.
Another early morning run to cap off the night. Only 2 little miles, but I'll take it. Can't wait to go back to working days next week.
About 4 slow, comfortable miles this morning. After a half mile my watch started vibrating. It was going into power saving mode, because I forgot to hit start. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.
Easy 3 this morning after work.
Without a plan, I am a ship without a rudder.
If you’re an active fitblr/healthblr
reblog this post! I’m gonna follow you, you’re gonna follow me, and we’re gonna be friends.
Huh, why not?
Easy 3 this morning before the sun came up. Felt really good and so glad I resisted the temptation to stay in bed.
Been ages since I posted. Up at 3 and at the gym by 4. Quick chest and back. 30 minutes on the treadmill. No running today, just walking at a brisk pace and max incline. Have a great day.
Reading about the miles my running friends put in this morning before work. I set my alarm for 4 this morning with my clothes and shoes laid out. I then slept in. That two mornings in a row in which I could not pull my lazy self out of bed. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Frustrated that I can't post photos from my iPhone to tumblr!
After a month of gymnastics, Alec is getting so much stronger. I would be thrilled if my core was as strong as his. This is my fitness inspiration.
Ran this morning while my wife and little boy were still in bed. I set out for an easy run but felt really good, so I decided to up my pace a little. In the fourth mile, I had to really concentrate to keep up the pace. This was by far the most intensity I have had on a non-race day run in quite some time. I missed my fastest time ever for 5 miles by 3 seconds. I think maybe the strength training is started to have a positive impact.
After the run I mowed the yard, while it was still cool outside. Then I washed the car with the help of my little boy. All this before noon. What a start to the day. Have a great weekend!
Vanity workout to finish the week. Abs and arms followed by a take-my-breath away jump rope session.
It wasn’t as far as I imagined I would go, but I am still pleased with this run. I took it easy for the first 3.5 miles and then picked up my pace for the last half.
It was a struggle getting out of the door this morning. I think the primary reason is that I am just worn out physically. It has been a hard week of training so far. Every muscle in my body is pretty much sore. I planned on a run this morning instead of going to the gym, and mentally I don’t think I was 100% committed to it. Still it is progress, and I will take it.
Now, it is time for bed. Have a good day!
Why am I procrastinating? If I don’t get up and away from this computer, I am not going to accomplish the goal I have set for myself. Get up, get your shoes on, and go. Just go!
Back and biceps at the gym this morning. Today I am thinking about the differences between weight lifters and runners.
Why does strength training always seem so serious? Unless you are one of the chatter boxes that lift the weights as an afterthought in between the lengthy expositions that have nothing to do with fitness, it is really hard work. At least it is for me. And in that small respite in between sets, I try to find something to do that doesn’t cause me to stand out more awkwardly than necessary. I try not to spend too much time looking at people, I am not one too comtemplate the universe while gazing out the window (I save that for other occasions), and I certainly am not striking a pose in front of the window. Therefore I find myself mindlessly looking at the second hand of the clock, or watching last night’s baseball game being replayed on the TV. I really find that minute or two in between sets quite agonizing.
After I got home from the gym I went for a run. The difference was remarkable. I was enjoying the sunrise, the birds chirping, and the flowers in front of the houses. I waved at passing motorists, who were just starting their day. Some of them looked pretty grumpy, and I flashed them my best smile as I chugged along. The weight of lifting weights in the confines of a gym seemed to have lifted from my mind, and I was left rather cheerful.
I am of course going to continue going to the gym, because I enjoy the struggle of trying to get stronger. I just wish it wasn’t filled with so many frowny faces. Before I was flabby, slow, and weak. Hopefully in the future, I will be lean, fast, and strong.
What you do every day matters more than what you do every once in a while.
