a pleasant, subtle shock runs through nolan upon bruin’s agreeable response, though it doesn’t necessarily reach his hardened expression. brows remain seriously knitted, eyes pulling and falling, for a millisecond, on the smile curled on the other’s lips. weight shifts, shifts again ; clothes rustle in the heavy silence. it’s a long while before he can think of something to say. he’s always been appropriately diffident in the face of grumpiness personified.
