Fnaf has a lot of characters

Some are unique, but a lot of variants or recolors of other characters. So this blog is here to catalogue them. If it isn't obvious, this is inspired by those daily prosekai blogs(I have a mutual who's into that game, there's a lot of those)

As the name suggests, every day I'm going to post a variation or recolor of a fnaf character(some from the games, some from official merch)

Okay we got several new updates on the variation front. Apparently the San Diego Comic Con is happening starting on the 23rd and fnaf merch companies are coming out with stuff

Starting off with something more minor, glow in the dark Toy Freddy figures from Youtooz. Going off of the packaging, he'll apparently be based off of how he looks in the office, so that's fun

But next off, we got two new variants. First, a shadow version of the endoskeleton(technically a "dark" variant, but that's just a shadow with a superiority complex). One could argue this was a long time coming, but I'm still kinda surprised

Second we got- Midnight Freddy? What??

Okay one could argue this could be another, pre-existing Freddy variant. I mean, sure Shadow Freddy(no not that one) belongs to Funko, but Help Wanted has Dark Freddy, and Neon Bonnie already got renamed. The actual Shadow Freddy was also used for the Freddy set, so they'd have a reason to not just reuse it. To which I say- ya there's a decent chance that's the case. Hell, Midnight Freddy ain't half bad of a rename. But on the off chance that he's new, he's going here anyway

Also those halloween variants are already popping up in online stores. Not available quite yet I don't think, but already seeing them there is surprising

Had a quick scare when tumblr's search didn't return anything, but it turns out I was looking up the wrong terms. Day 197

Y'all know the drill by now, I come in and share news about new variants. But this time, I'm not talking about the official games

I'm talking about official merch of fan games. Ones that are part of the fanverse and, therefore, also technically official games in their own right... Anyway, Phantasmagoric Ignited Freddy and Translucent Green Popgoes exist now. One's glow in the dark, the other just looks like a gummy

Except, technically only the gummy one counts as a new variant?? Cus when googling to see if my memory was right about the Ignited Freddy one, apparently that guy has actually shown up before in one of the extra stages

Oh hey, this blog isn't dead

Thanks to there being new variants! And not by Funko for once

First off we got a grim reaper Foxy, a mummy Bonnie, and a vampire Freddy for a halloween launch. No clue on if there's a Chica or not. Normally I'd be kinda iffy on if these count as variants, but I covered the Survival Crew skins, so fuck it

Fun fact: originally the halloween launch was going to be some fnaf 4 characters, but that was vetoed. So for once(to our knowledge), merch companies and their greed isn't the reason for needless variants. Though it certainly makes me wonder about past ones

Up next we have Shadow Bonnie- wait a minute. The actual Shadow Bonnie figure is supposed to release in 2027 and this doesn't look like him at all. But you know who it does look like?

Either Funko's Shadow Bonnie is getting a new brother or Neon Bonnie is getting a reverse of the Funtime/Toy Foxy treatment. We'll have to wait and see I suppose

I didn't think I'd give an update on the halloween merch so soon, but we've got a better look at all of them and confirmation that there's a Chica variant. She's a witch!

Foxy's also apparently a reference to Death from the one Puss In Boots movie, which- good for him ngl

Eleanor from Fnaf: To Be Beautiful(in the game Into The Pit)

Okay I know people have... Opinions on her design from the books, but wow it really doesn't translate well into sprite-form. Speaking of, this variant of Baby shows up in a minigame that's accessed by calling Oswald's mom. It's basically a condensed version of what happens with Sarah thanks to Eleanor in Fazbear Frights

As for what she does/is in the books? Well, she seems to be some weird remnent/agony creature, if not a straight up demon, that is the reason most of the Stitchwraith-related stories happen. And with how Frailty clearly has her pendent, even if you refuse to believe Stitchwraith is canon, that still implies she's just- out there somewhere. Or you can just deny that as well, whatever works

As someone who's still firmly in the "Pizza Sim is when William died" camp, you can guess what my choice is

With the release of Secret of the Mimic, apparently there's a third option to the "accept the Tales stories are game-canon or ignore their existence" situation

I didn't think my stubborn denial was going to pay off, but I guess I win? At the bare minimum, the theory's gone back to the "only some of the stories are game-canon" stage, which is far more than I expected

Y'know, I started this blog over a year ago as a test to see what would run out first: my motivation/commitment to the bit or the amount of variants. I expected this to last- maybe a 100 or so days, then I'd either give up or I'd run out of characters

408 days later, I finally finished doing all the currently released variants. Sure maybe I'll cover any that come out in the future, but for now I've reached the end. Not really sure what to do with this blog now, but I'm open to suggestions

Several months later, it turns out that the answer is "occasionally pop in from the void to talk about new variants", which works pretty well

That "fangame variants" idea never really went anywhere and while I could theoretically track some down on my own, it kinda defeats the purpose. So I guess that should be considered dead until further notice. Meanwhile, the Merch Park au is still a thing and will definitely be worked on when the motivation strikes

"Shadow Bonnie" is now available to order and judging by the materials alone, it seems to be the latter theory

Now one could say this is a mere style choice, but compared to the Shadow Mangle figure by the same company?

That one is far more matte and "shadowy" in comparison

Seeing as I literally cannot find a store listing for these guys despite their pre-orders supposedly coming out today, this was a load of bullshit. For the best honestly, one Balloon Girl is enough

Update: still no listings from Amazon, Entertainment Earth, or Funko's own store about these. The only legit shop I could find pre-orders for is Popcultcha, which I'm not exactly inclined to trust right now

They could be an exclusive, but that wasn't mentioned and it wouldn't explain Amazon and Entertainment Earth being linked as places where this would be sold
