Happy 3 years of dailylighthouse!!!!

While this blog is nothing like it originally was, I am still so grateful to have a place to share my love of lighthouses!

This year in lighthouses for me:

Visited my usual lighthouses

Showed a friend around our local lighthouse! Found out she also rather enjoys seafaring and lighthouses too!

Sailed a lot!

Started collecting Harbour Lights lighthouse models

Got more annoying about lighthouses!

Sometime when I'm not in the trenches with my other hobby (cosplay) I'll show y'all my Harbour Lights collection I've somehow acquired in the last two months

I've been obsessed with these lighthouse collectibles for awhile but somehow only started getting my hands on them recently

#current favorites are tower of hercules and the one tilted one that i cant remember the name of #and the fresnel lens. obviously

Ocean: if given the choice would you be a lighthouse keeper?

Most likely yes! I'd love the routine of it and the driving purpose.

Shoal: Have you planned any trips specifically to see a lighthouse?

Yes lol. The Tower of Hercules is the main one I can think of. That was so awesome. Most of the time though I'll be planning trips and look to see if there's any lighthouses nearby that I can visit. This is how I found Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse in Manteo, Santa Marta Lighthouse in Portugal and the Gianicolo Lighthouse in Rome.

#Santa Marta was insane how perfectly it worked #i was on an excursion with my unversity for that one and we had 2 hours free in Cascais #i had recently read about Hyper-Radial fresnel lenses and there's a list of where they all are #and one was in that city and I was determined to go #and i did!!

#so fun fact #i just this past weekend found a picture of this lighthouse from the 90s #in an attic of a place i work #no context #everything else in the box was completely different photographs- like related to this job #and i scoured all the possible ones it could be and apparently missed the multiple lighthouses in Erie #Like i was considering it could be in Puerto Rico because I was told of a trip that some people took in the 90s #who were involved with this job #guess someone printed photos for work and forgot to take out their trip photos?

Check out Dungeness Spit and Saint George Reef! Those two are my favorites.

I've been trying to visit all the west coast lighthouses and take pictures of them! 10/10 love your blog!

A noble quest! I would love to do that someday with the Great Lakes. Or Fresnel lenses. Love fresnel lenses.

More Cape Hatteras Fresnel Lens Images!

The replica was created by Artworks Florida

Which is the same company who made the fresnel lens for the movie The Lighthouse

Anyway, this replica is eventually going in the Cape Hatteras lighthouse once restoration work is complete! There's no specific timeframe yet, my guess is 2027 at this point. Hopefully they let the public see the lens before it's put in the building
