MCU Ladies Week | Day 1: Favorite Character | Wanda Maximoff

You guys know I can move things with my mind, right?

There have been a thousand thousand (completely valid) controversies surrounding Wanda in the MCU, and I don’t dispute that or try to ignore it. (I’ll fix it through fandom as much as I can, of course.) That disclaimed, I still think she’s an incredibly compelling character and my heart goes out to her. She’s introduced to us as an angry young woman, looking to right the wrongs of her past no matter how bloodily, but she soon realizes she should channel her anger into actively trying to do the right thing. She tries to fit into the world she didn’t ask for and the team that doesn’t entirely know what to do with her, to stand up for her convictions, to learn to be her own woman even if she’s still learning what that means. She’s sensitive, she’s “weird,” she’s wary, she’s passionate. She’s still so young and yet carries herself like an old soul. She does her best and over and over gets hurt for it. She’s tragic and I want nothing more for her than happiness (and explicit textual Judaism and a good psychiatrist).
