Urban Harvest is a RVA based blog established to help Richmond inhabitants, and all other residents of food deserts create their own source of healthy food, as well as show others how to get involved.

DIY Recycled Garden

Believe it or not, you can start your own garden from items you may already have in your kitchen! Put scions of green onions, lettuce, carrot caps, sweet potatoes, plain ol' potatoes, celery, various herbs, and even avocado seeds in water and watch them grow! (This is great for veggies that pass their expiration date in the fridge) In a few weeks they will develop roots, and will be ready to plant in soil once the roots are a few inches long.

½ cup canned pumpkin

1 cup almond milk

2 frozen bananas

2 dates

1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (optional)

½ tsp vanilla extract

sprinkle nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and ginger

College crafting on the cheap! I love it! You just summed up my life in a url hehehe. I will definitely check it out, I want to make my boyfriend a T-shirt quilt soon and could definitely use some pointers!

I am a full time student trying to balance school, moving, my photography business, my etsy shop, aaaand then my social life haha. I hope that explains my absence!

But now that I'm all moved in to my new apartment, I will be much more active here. (And I can share with you all of my DIY projects for my new place!)

Hi! I love your blog & I hoped to get some suggestions for decor diys. My sister lives overseas, but she wants homemade stuff for her Bday. Do you have any home decor/art diys that are small enough to ship, but make a big impact? (Also hopefully low on sewing, I'm not very proficient in that regard.) Thanks so much! :)

These paper lanterns fold flat and would therefore be easy to ship. You can decorate them to match the theme of her house! (Click the pic to view the tutorial)
