Way to undermine the MANY people who love her value her and have gone to desperate measures to help her because they know she would do the same for them. Way to make it about you, as if their mission to rescue Daisy is all one elaborate plot to eliminate you, because that’s what’s important right now. Make it about your insecurity about not fitting into her life while she’s literally under the control of an evil creature bent on destroying the earth, in the dead body of the monster who antagonized her and hurt her small, messed up family.

everything is terrible and horrible and overwhelming and I don’t know what to do

yesterday I didn’t finish all of the work I had to get done so I was already feeling anxious and panicky, and then my mom spent the entire drive home from work telling me to pay more money than I’m already paying for student loans and rent and stuff and when I got home I had like, a full on panic attack I think?

pretty funny that critics love to applaud w@rd’s character for going through so many transformations, but I rarely see anything applauding chloe for juggling daisy’s trajectory from hobo hacker skye —> agent skye —> between-worlds heroine —> agent johnson –> superhero —> fugitive quake

Daisy Johnson is a canon childhood abuse survivor with mental health issues yet it’s funny how this is never brought up by fandom to argue she should be extra protected from unhealthy relationships or from abusive or problematic men in her life.

Is it because Daisy has never used her past trauma or her issues to justify treating other badly like the white dudes did?

Or is it because only white dudes are allowed to have their traumatic past or their current issues used as an excuse for their problematic behavior?

A white dude can do a shitty thing and he will be woobified and fandom will make a million posts about how he must be protected.

A white dude can minimize and dismiss Daisy’s past trauma and never apologize and fandom will focus the conversation on HIS past and HIS issues and on making excuses for him instead of thinking about the impact these actions have on Daisy.

Fandom will make a thousand posts about a mentally ill white dude with control/violence issues, but no one would talk about how even though that illness is not his fault the narrative shouldn’t put a survivor of childhood abuse and someone who went through multiple instances of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of someone who claim to “love” her with a man with control/violence issues and then force her to be the person who can “fix”/control him as per his own words.

Daisy can be robbed of her agency and abused by a tentacle monster and fandom will still focus on how her actions affect others and how she needs to “redeem” herself despite none of it being her fault. No mention of her trauma or issues being ruthlessly exploited by Hive is made to “excuse” her behavior (not that she needs it, because it wasn’t her fault).

A white dude can defend Daisy’s abuser to her face and fandom will praise him for being “loyal” and “pure”. Fandom will never talk about how Daisy felt having proof one of her friends considered her less of a priority than the honor of the NeoNazi who had kidnapped her, terrorized her and touched her without her consent. Fandom won’t talk about how an abuse victim felt by having a person who she trusted defend her abuser to her face and dismiss her experiences and terror.

A white dude can selfishly risk Daisy’s life without her consent and without apologizing for it and fandom will talk about how “brave” and “romantic” he is, and never how Daisy, who had been taught she was worthless and nobody cared about her for decades, felt about this.

Fandom would give a pass to the most disgusting white dude because he has a past, but Daisy having a past and never hurting anyone because of it is never discussed.

Fandom will make thousands of posts about how Daisy could “redeem” a Nazi abuser with her love because he has a traumatic past, but Daisy’s admittedly equal past is never brought up as a reason why she shouldn’t be forced to fall in love with her abuser.

A white dude can be a NeoNazi and a serial rapist and he can murder and hurt innocents and his past will be used as an excuse by a big chunk of fandom.

Daisy has never willingly hurt people yet her abuse and trauma is never discussed as an extra reason why she should be protected, nor is she ever praised for never taking her issues out on others and living with her trauma and being a kind, principled, warm heroine who chose to use her trauma and her issues as motivation to protect others.

The most Daisy gets from fandom is it ignoring or outright erasing her abuse or her mental health issues.

If Daisy Johnson was a white dude… how much meta there’d be about her traumatic childhood, about her past abuse, about her homelessness, about her abandonement issues, about her self-loathing and her anger and her insecurity?

(She wouldn’t even have to be a dude, actually. Look at how fandom will excuse Jessica from raping Luke and abusing Malcolm because of her trauma. Jessica can get a pass for being an abuser because of her past abuse. Daisy is an abuse survivor who has never abused anyone and people still consider her less worthy of being protected than they do abusers or toxic people.)
