Go, my GoGos!
Eridian OCs based on myself and my friend Jake (I wish I had made the lego on Flint's right side further back and their back one smaller... I'm not good at drawing perspective or shading and rocks are like, the worst thing for me to draw)

Which do you prefer?? Do you like one specific part from one of the designs? What would you do differently?
The Riverlands (The Tullys) Fashion Sketches
River Kings I’ve based fashion from The Riverlands on various central and south-eastern European countries, especially ones that the Danube runs through. This first outfit is based mainly on Romanian folk costume. The early Riverlands (which weren’t even the Riverlands at that point) were a hot bed of rebellions and invasions so the clothing is a mix of different cultures folk-costumes. They were invaded/ruled by a lot of Iron Born so I’ve given her iron/steel jewellery. 0 AC The Riverlands (actually still not quite the Riverlands yet) was ruled by Harren Hoare (of Harrenhal fame!) who was extremely unpopular. The other houses rallied against him and joined the Targaryen conquerors meaning that, while House Hoare suffered, the rest of the Riverlands (yep, NOW they’re the Riverlands) were united and now well-off and well-liked by their new King. I’ve given this outfit rich fabric (velvet) embossed with fresh water pearls. The blue streaks also represent, well, rivers. 129 AC The Riverlands’ houses were in favour of Team Black during the Dance of the Dragons, hence the red and black gem stones on the jewellery. After the Dance, more than a thousand Northman settled down south in the Riverlands, bringing their culture, such as Gods and fashion, with them. I’ve given this outfit a more Northern look to it because of this, adding fur-lined over coats and wrapped fabric belts in a slightly Imperial Russian (what I largely based Dance-Era North on) style. 298 AC I thought I’d keep some semblance of Northern influence with the embroidery style, one that harkens back to pre-conquest Riverlands, too. This dress has a more southern neckline and figure, however, showing that the two kingdoms have since lost their brief connection. I also gave her a little fish bag and a hair net to represent fishing nets... how clever. (Re-posted from my Deviant Art from 2022)
The Vale (The Arryns) Fashion Sketches
Andal Invasion During the Andal Invasion, the First Men of The Vale mostly created alliances with the Andals but the ones who didn’t went off to create the mountain clans, groups of people who still stick to the old ways/old gods. Mountain clans made me think of Celtic/Saxon Britain (especially Wales and parts of Ireland) which is what I’ve mainly based Vale Fashion on. The problem with Celtic fashion is that a lot of sources online are… dubious at best. It’s rarely actually Celtic fashion and more “celtic fashion from ren fairs”. I’ve given her leather straps and iron brooches and buckles which are always a safe bet for that time period. I also gave her a feather in her hair to represent House Arryn’s sigil. 0 AC Again, choosing Celtic Britain for The Vale’s main inspiration was slightly like shooting myself in the foot. There’s not much I can say in terms of historical accuracy. I’ve given her lots of braids and a silver moon necklace. House Arryn readily bent the knee for the new Targaryen conquerors so I’ve given this outfit a pretty relaxed and casual look. 129 AC House Arryn and The Vale were on the side of The Blacks during The Dance of the Dragons which is why I’ve given this outfit red and black accents. Lady Jeyne Arryn was a badass who, despite not being a fan of Daemon, was a big supporter or Rhaenyra because her mother was an Arryn (Aemma) and “women should band together”. I’ve given this outfit lots of jewels and embossing as well as fabric attached to metal arm bands to mimic wings, both for the bird of House Arryn’s sigil and for the Targaryen’s dragons. 298 AC After Robert’s Rebellion and Jon Arryn dying, I think The Vale would be in a weird period of mourning and isolation, especially with Lysa in charge. I’ve made this last outfit more reminiscent of the earlier ones and in a darker shade of blue for those reasons. I gave her a mantle-cloak and long, swooping sleeves because they kinda looks like wings or something, I guess. (Re-posted from my Deviant Art from 2022)
Westerlands (The Lannisters) Fashion Sketches
Pre-Andal For The Westerlands, I decided to use France as my main source of inspiration due to both having a large coastal trading system and geographical similarities. This first outfit has been inspired by Gaulish and Francish fashion. Lots of ancient French culture was influenced by the Romans. I thought this tied in really well with The Westerlands as they had good relations with people from The Reach and for my Reach outfits, I based them heavily off of Roman/Italian fashion. Casterly Rock, the place where the head of The Westerlands live (first House Casterly, then House Lannister), is sat atop a large gold mine which contributed to the kingdom’s wealth. In all my Westerlands pieces, there will be a lot of gold incorporated. 0 AC The Westerlands (and the Lannisters) got their asses pretty handed to them by the Targaryen conquerors. They would eventually surrender and become part of the 7 Kingdoms, taking on the title “Wardens of The West”, but it seems as if some bitter energy was still floating about. A few years after the conquest, there was a Faith Militant uprising by the Poor Fellows, based in The Westerlands, against Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaena. Eventually things were sorted out and it was a Western Lord who helped the royals but this outfit was given an air of religion about it. Modest, yet still showing the wealth and standing that the people of the area had. The seven-pointed star on her head-covering shows devotion to the Faith of The Seven over the crown. 129 AC House Lannister sided with Aegon II’s “The Greens” during the Dance of the Dragons. It… didn’t go too well for them. While the soldiers were off fighting (getting burned) the coast was left vulnerable, leading to vicious attacks and raids from The Iron Islands. Although they were still one of the richest kingdoms, The Westerlands suffered during this period. That’s why this outfit has more of a 13th century peasant look than a noblewoman’s. It still has gold jewellery and richly coloured fabrics but is much more practical than the other outfits I’ve done set at this time, especially with her little apron. 298 AC Over 150 years later and The Westerlands are doing good! Before Robert’s Rebellion The Lannisters and the crown were on good terms. Tywin was the hand of the king and Jaime was a knight of the King’s Guard. Tywin seemed to be remaining neutral during the uprising but in a twist, he ended up betraying The Targaryen’s and instead helped The Baratheons at the end. This meant that The Lannisters were still on good terms with the crown and got the best of both worlds. Because of this, this final outfit (one of my favourite ones that I've drawn) shows the unification of the two houses. It’s fur lined with gold accents, reflecting their wealth and current good fortune. (Re-posted from my Deviant Art from 2022)
Iron Islands (The Greyjoys) Fashion Sketches
Greyiron The early days of the Iron Islands were ruled by House Greyiron. They were First Men who would later be overthrown by Andals. House Greyiron used long boats and, because of this and the fact that they were sea-fairing invaders, I of course based them on Vikings. This was a pre-andal era though so I gave this person a more Iron Age (pun not originally intended) look to them. I based their hair on the style of a suebian knot, a type of style found on “bog bodies” from ancient Germanic tribes. She has a simple woollen dress and a practical leather belt with a shell strapped to it. ~0 AC After a long series of invasions, largely from the people of The Westerlands, the people of the Iron Islands weren’t doing too great. They were going through famines and periods of starvation but eventually Qhorwyn Hoare started peaceful trading with the mainland and the free cities. This is the period in which I set this outfit. Inspired more by early Scandinavian/Viking people but still leaning on Iron Age styles, I gave this lady an outfit that gives off a sense of peace and no need for fighting. Sadly, Hoare’s decedents then went on to invade The Riverlands. Harren Hoare was defeated by Aegon when Balerion the dragon literally melted his castle. This is my attempt at a squid on her apron... War of the Ninepenny King Aegon The Conqueror gave House Greyjoy, the new leaders of the Iron Islands, the title of, you gussied it, Lords of The Iron Islands. The Greyjoys were ruthless invaders and grew a reputation of people you really wouldn’t want to run in to. With my other drawings for this series, the third piece I usually do for one of the kingdoms is set during the Dance of the Dragons. The Greyjoys during this period, however, really didn’t get involved with all that and instead just continued to invade The Westerlands. I instead set this outfit during the Ninepenny war (a Blackfyre rebellion) which, once again for the isles, had become an era of peace. Thralldom (essentially slavery) had been outlawed by Quellon Greyjoy and practiced neutrality regarding wars and battles. This outfit is inspired by later Scandinavian fashion, moving away from Viking influences. They were doing very well so I've covered her in bright colours. 289 AC Quellon was succeeded by his son Balon. Balon went ahead and basically undid all his father’s work on growing trade and relations with the other nations, bringing back invading and enslaving. Around 10 years before the beginning of the ASOIAF series, Balon began a rebellion against the Iron Throne and newly appointed King Robert Baratheon with the intent on becoming independent. Due to this renewed era of war and pillaging, this outfit’s inspiration goes back to the Vikings again with the braids and a more practical outfit. I didn’t set this last drawing in 298 AC like my others because after the were beaten in the rebellion, they weren’t doing much at that point other than licking their wounds and building themselves back up.

Stormlands (The Baratheons) Fashion Sketches
Storm Kings The Stormlands are described as being “a land of harsh mountains, stony shores, and verdant forests” and 10 points of you can guess why they’re named the “storm” lands. This description immediately made me think of Scotland. Like when I drew inspiration from Ancient Greece for Dorne, this might be biased partially due to my love of Scotland and it’s history but I think it fits well enough. Before the Baratheons ruled the area, there was House Durrandon; known as The Storm Kings. I gave this pre-seven-kingdoms outfit a Pictish look with tartan, brooches, and Brythonic blue tattoos/paint. Britton/Celtic clothing can be difficult to look up online because all the searches are flooded with “found on wish.com ren fair medieval Celtic fairy costume” stuff so this took a while to get some-what right. The Celtic era and the “Middle Ages” are not the same thing, people! 0 AC During the Targaryen Conquest, Orys (Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys’ half brother) helped to defeat House Durrandon and founded House Baratheon. The Baratheons then became Lord Paramounts of the Stormlands. Because of their support towards the Targaryens I added red gems to her corset/vest and a darker over-dress. The same problem with Celtic clothing as before happened slightly here, too. 129 AC The Baratheons supported The Greens (Aegon II’s Party) during The Dance of the Dragons. This is surprising because Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (a member of The Blacks) was the daughter of Jocelyn Baratheon. They were able to be picky, though, as the location of Storm’s End was valuable during the war and both parties would do anything to have them on their side. I gave this outfit wing-like sleeves and a green jewel on her necklace to show support for Aegon II. 298 AC So… we all know what House Baratheon went on to do at the end of the 3rd century. By the time the series starts, House Baratheon is the ruling house of Westeros! Even though this outfit is based more off of 14th century fashion, during the late-middle 16th century in Scotland (the country that most of my version of The Stormlands is based on) Mary Queen of Scots’ son James became King James VI of Scotland and King James I of England, replacing the semi-long standing House of York (the Tudors) with the House of Stewart. I thought this real-world comparison with what happened with The Baratheons was pretty cool and one of the reasons I chose Scotland as my main source of inspiration. There's a deer on her head scarf because I realised there was a distinct lack of them in my other designs.

The Reach (The Tyrells) Fashion Sketches
House Gardener Before Aegon’s Conquest, it was House Gardener who ruled over The Reach, not House Tyrell. It was founded by Garth Greenhand during the Dawn Age, the time of the First Men coming to Westeros. Given that The Reach’s main exports are fruit and wine, it gives me an Italian vibe. And who lived in Ancient Italy? Drum roll please… the Romans! So that’s what I used as inspiration for the House Gardener outfit. Not much else to this one, really. 0 AC The new Targaryen Kings and Queens made a lot of changes, including making the Tyrells the great house of The Reach, with House Gardener becoming extinct. They were granted the title “paramount of the Mander”, a river that runs though The Reach. This made me want to focus mainly on Venice as a source of inspiration. While the (arguably) most famous fashion in Venice comes from the renaissance period, my 0 AC real-world time period equivalent is around the second half of the 11th century, so it was a little too early for that. Instead I gave her a rope belt to imitate the high waists and golden arm bands as a nod to the slashed sleeves that’ll come a few centuries later. I chose yellow as the main colour for this outfit as I imagine the Tyrells, at first, woud’ve wanted to distinguish themselves from the Gardeners. 129 AC During The Dance of The Dragons, The Reach was in favour of The Greens, the Party of Aegon II. His mother, Queen Alicent Hightower, was from The Reach, so it makes sense. Obviously, because of this, I made her outfit green but this time a darker shade to represent the events happening at the time. The houses of The Reach had always been successful and wealthy but, with a Hightower Queen-Consort and then her son becoming King, I’m sure trading and exports with the crown was at an all time high. That’s why I’ve given her lots of gems and pearls. 298 AC The the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th century AC for the Tyrells went pretty damn good, all things considered. Margaery (this sketch isn’t necessarily of Margaery) was married to Renly, then (briefly) becomes Queen, and then becomes Queen AGAIN! If you only go off of the books, then she’s still doing well! Because of all of this, I made this outfit a lot lighter, in shade and tone. I gave her the high waist, slashed sleeves, and plunging necklines that were popular in renaissance Venice. Because my inspiration for this outfit was still a little pre-renaissance, I kept it toned down. But maybe in future drawings I’ll go a bit more all out. In fact, that’s what I would change about this one. Not enough frills and layers! (Re-posted from my Deviant Art from 2022)
Dorne (The Martells) Fashion Sketches
Nymeros-Martell Dorne became the powerhouse of the South that we know today when the Rhoynar led by the warrior Queen Nymeria (yes, the same Nymeria that Arya named her wolf after) fled Essos and crossed the narrow sea over to the Broken Arm of Dorne. She married Mors Martell and unified the two houses. Reading how the Rhoynar crossed over the sea, a sea specifically with lots of little islands in it, it made me think of the ancient Greeks. Specifically the Minoans. This may be slightly because of my bias with Minoan Greece because I love it so much but I think I can justify it enough. The climate, the sea-faring, the peoples physical appearances, etc. 0 AC Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys didn’t know what they were up against when they tried to conquer Dorne. After the death of Rhaenys and her dragon Meraxes during the first Dornish War, House Martell and the rest of the kingdom were left well enough alone for the next few decades. GRRM said that the countries that influenced Dorne were Spain and Palestine (and Wales? But I wasn’t really sure where that supposed Welsh inspiration went. Maybe their fighting spirit? - EDIT: I think it's referring to the names EG Arthur, Dyanna, Oberyn, Arianne) so this period of invasion and fighting to keep their cultural identity strong made me design this outfit with lots of Palestinian folk clothing inspiration. 129 AC Dorne remained neutral during The Dance of the Dragons which was probably a very smart decision. Spain was a country that was neutral in WWII and considering GMMR cited Spain as one of the real-world inspirations for Dorne, I thought it was perfect inspiration for this outfit, too. It was also particularly influenced by the Soldaderas during the Mexican Revolution. My Westeros sketches will mainly be taking inspiration from European cultures (I’m planning to do some Essos sketches that’ll have a more global focus) but because of Spain’s Islamic history and the south of the country having North African influence, I thought this was a good opportunity to branch out a little.
298 AC By the time the series starts, Dorne is now part of the 7 Kingdoms and, in a twist of fate, on the side of the Targaryens! After what happened to Elia and her children, I imagine Dorne would be in a period of mourning. Because of this, I made the outfit with darker shades to represent the emotional state of the Martells and made red the main colour to represent the support of House Targaryen. I also made this outfit once again with more Palestinian influence as a nod to the period in their history were they held strong against adversity. (Re-posted from my Deviant Art from 2022)
The North (The Starks) Fashion Sketches
Pre-Andal The first sketch I did was set back during the time when only the First Men were in Westeros, before the Andals became the majority population. Originally I was planning on drawing an outfit inspired by native Siberian culture, such as the Nenets people, but I eventually thought that that might fit better with the Free Folk beyond the wall, much further north, and I was intending this to be more Stark-North. Instead, I went with a look that’s much more inspired by the Sámi culture, particularly the people in Finland. Warm woollen garb made to withstand herding reindeer throughout the year. In real life, Sámi dress is coloured with rich, royal blues and reds, but as this was thousands of years before the events of GoT, I toned it down a little to represent the time period. Sámi often use pewter so that’s what her jewellery is made of. I added obsidian (or dragon glass) as embellishments because this was during a time where the First Men were in regular contact with the Children of The Forest, who would supply them obsidian to fight the White Walkers, a much more understood threat back then.
0 AC This outfit is from the time of Aegon The Conqueror. Because of this, I based all outfits set in this time off of the fashion from the 11th Century AD as in the year 1066 AD, the Normans conquered England and I thought this was a good comparison. By the time the Targaryens came to Westeros, the Andals were the majority population except in the North which is what the weirwood leaves on her sleeves are a nod to. I still think there would be Andal influence, though, so I made this sketch more Slavic-inspired. I gave her a few obsidian beads hanging from her belt but by the time of The Conquest, The North and Beyond The Wall (and consequently the Children of The Forest) had been separated from each other for a long time, making the threat of White Walkers seem more like a fairy tale and making the need for obsidian (and the means to get it) obsolete. 129 AC This was the year the Dance of the Dragons (or the civil war between Rhaenyra and Aegon II Targaryen) started. The North largely supported The Blacks (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and House Manderly used their position at White Harbour to aid them. Because of this, I imagine The North and The Blacks-Controlled areas of The Crownlands were in regular trade, making this era for The North quite prosperous. I added gems, pearls, and gold to reflect this. 298 AC During sketching this, I was keeping in mind that if I was setting Aegon’s Conquest around the 11th Century (for inspirations sake) then that would mean that the event of Game of Thrones would happen at the very end of the 13th and very beginning of the 14th. That being said, given that I was basing these post-Targaryen outfits on Slavic/Russian fashion, I just couldn’t help myself but give this outfit those gorgeous early Romanoff-era sleeves. I added a blue rose which (in my imagined version of The North) became popular to wear after the death of Lyanna Stark. There’s also a use of darker colours to symbolise a nation in mourning.
