i like to think that dick tried to take damian through some of the same steps that he did for tim on his early training with tim, but b/c tim was a civilian and damian was trained as an assassin and ra's' heir, their reactions are very different. i like to think that dick tries taking damian to a random public place without telling him what to do in hopes of trolling him (lol u didn't memorize everyone coming by??? I did) and damian is like pointing out whoever he thinks might be carrying a weapon or up to something constantly and is like 'wait whats the mission are we looking out for that guy?' and dicks like "UGH! no mission fine lets go home'.

similarly u know when damian wore the hood up on his cape and dick tried to sucker punch him (to prove that it was a mistake peripheral vision wise) and damian blocked and lectured him about being able to fight blind u know dick was groaning that he wasn't going to be able to do blindfolded train hopping with damian... at least not in an instructory capacity XD dick goes home like the sad ant with the bundle

hilariously, tim might actually be a better trainer for damian than dick is. sure, the bats all have similar skill sets, but tim's best skills tend to be the things damian is worst at

not sure what best skills you're thinking of that tim has that damian's worst at. if it's like the classically 'detective' stuff, we do see dick training damian in that already (and damian developing decent prowess in it).

hwoever i'll say just. personality wise, tim would be a terrible trainer for damian.

the way he refers to damian in his internal (and external) monolouge is just straight up dehumanizing.

Like that is not someone who would encourage Damian to be a superhero or who would earn his respect enough for Damian to stick by him.

Duke when I hit him with the ‘growing up black so there’s casual Christianity throughout your life like saying grace and praying for safe travels’ beam💔. And his parents aren’t getting better so he tries something familiar to him, praying in the morning light so maybe whoever’s listening will see how good he is💔💔. My grandma would have me pray with her at night when I was little. Even though I’m not religious, when life gets hard enough and it feels like nothing else is working, I find myself praying just in case. I wanted it to look like Doug and Elaine’s hands were supporting him as well.
