Büro System by SocioDesign Büro is a mens cosmetics range made from all natural, sustainable ingredients, designed to be used on a daily basis and tailored to the individual needs of the user. We created a new brand name, identity and packaging system that removed the prettification and emotion, typically found in the cosmetic and fragrance industry thereby emphasising the utilitarian nature and quality of the product. The use of materials in their unprocessed state helped to communicate the purity of ingredients used within the range. Printed by Avenue Litho.

I have been researching into brand guideline boards to get an idea of what information to provide my client with.Â
I am now creating my final visual mood boards to present my concept to JDO. These boards will include a concept idea board, brand standards board, branding on packaging and my brand in context. These are to provide the client with a well considered concept where they can see my idea developing.Â
For all my projects so far, I have had all my process books and most of my final outcomes printed by Repropoint, Woking. I have been really happy with their service and they have been great when it comes to dealing with my crazy requests of how I want my prints done! I got my portfolio and CV printed by Repropoint to ensure the prints were done at a very high standard on professional paper.Â
I have spoken to Repropoint, Woking about doing work experience with them. As well as gaining agency and studio experience, I thought it would be really beneficial to work behind the scenes of a professional printers too, to gain better knowledge of the process and files types etc that they deal with. I am going to take the next step to gaining this experience once I have finalised my portfolio and CV.
Reflecting on my personal aims from the beginning of the JDO project!Â
Here is the list I made at the beginning of the project which are points I wanted to remember for this project! Most of these I have kept to.
Whenever I am given a sheet from my tutor with lists of requirements, advice or what is expected from my project, I will alway rewrite it into my notebook and add my own notes into each section. This helps me to understand and get into my head exactly what is necessary! Often when I read something off a sheet I don’t take it in well, so writing it in my own hand writing simplifies each bit and I have a much better understanding. I also prefer to have all the information in one place, so having it in my notebook in my own writing along with all my other notes means I won’t forget anything! I can then tick it off once it is complete and move onto the next part. Although it can be time consuming, it means I have a much better understanding of what is expected.
This project, is a lot around time management. I am a bit different from other people when it comes to managing my time, as I don’t like to dedicate certain tasks to certain days in my diary. This is because I just will not stick to it! I am inspired by different things everyday and therefore I will work on each area of a project based on what I am inspired by on that day. Instead I will create endless lists of what needs to be done, and manage the list everyday, ticking off the bits that I get done. I think it is so rewarding to be able to tick off a whole list! I will have a certain date that each list needs to be done by and I will have the list ticked off by then.Â
Having spoken and catching up with my tutor today, I feel much better about my new concept for the JDO project. Catharine has given me some great advice to add to my brand which has given it the extra sense of individuality  and I am 100% more confident with where this concept is going. I have some further ideas in mind which I have put into my notebook which I can develop and create for my final boards for my deadline. I need to ensure I am managing my time effectively to create a quality brand in this shorter amount of time that I have left, rather than a weak brand which doesn’t communicate my idea very well.Â
Within our chat we also spoke about our next brief, which has given me ideas of where I will start my research so I can get stuck right in on the day of briefing!Â
I am starting again with my visual pitch which would have been shown to JDO over our Skype chat. Although I won’t be able to re do the Skype chat with JDO, I still think it is important to go through the whole process of this development to ensure I have thought my design through properly and considered every aspect. I want to make sure this design is as thorough as it would have been if it was my original concept so I don’t miss out on any areas. I have had some really good feedback from my tutor on my new visual pitch/elevator pitch boards. Developing these boards is great to show a client what your thought processes are, and your inspirational path to your final product. Providing a client with this journey helps them to visualise the concept that you have in mind.Â
Again from Sweety&Co, one of the most inspiring portfolios for me!Â
I love this website!Â
I was told about this website from one of my peers at uni, Gav. All the artwork on this website is created using Cinema 4D, and it looks amazing!!! How amazing it would be to be able to create my work into amazing pieces of art like this.
While carrying out this current project, I am trying to teach myself the basics of Cinema 4D as it is a really effective way of working and presenting your work. Cinema 4D was recommended to me by a few of my peers and they have been great support to help me learn the basics! This is why I really appreciate my time in the studio at uni. Everyone in the studio has their own ways of doing things and sharing these skills means that we can all evolve as designers and learn things we wouldn’t necessarily learn if we didn't have the time with each other in the studio. This would have been ideal for my first concept idea I had, which became too complex for my current skills. This program will have allowed me to create my complex 3D bottle and put it into context of the festival. Therefore, I have decided that I will teach myself the basics and build on those skills to hopefully gain a much better experience so that I don’t have this issue again in the future. I would love to be able to offer Cinema 4D as a skill to my future clients!
For my first months free trial of Creative Review, I received February 2016, and what was perfectly convenient is that it is their food and drink issue, which is absolutely perfect for this project! The page dedicated to Debby Lewis-Harrison particularly caught my eye due to it’s delicate watercolour illustrations! I love the use of colour and the expressive illustrations of slices of fruit. There is also a running theme of the illustrations seen on ‘The food and drink Issue’ page which I really love!Â
