âSo Marlene wants new quills, Mary wants Fizzing Whizzbees, and you want me to check for which book?â You ask Lily before facing the walk down to Hogsmead.
âAn Anthology of Eighteenth Century Charms,â Lily responds. â Itâs for the charms essay Flitwick assigned this week. I thought i could add something more unexpected than just what weâve learned in class this term.â
Lily was your closest friend out of all the girls in your dorm. Any time you had something you didnât want to let the other girls know, you could go to Lily. It wasnât that you didnât trust the other girls, god knows you did. Lily just always knew the right things to say, even if it wasnât what you wanted to hear. Plus, she was stellar at keeping a secret. Like your crush on a certain Gryffindor in your year.
âOk, Iâll see you guys at dinner?â With a nod from your friend, youâre on your way down to the bustling town. The walk down was always nice, but particularly beautiful in Spring. There were trees on either side of the cobblestone path, all blooming with pink and white blossoms. The air was filled with the sweet sent of flowers, as well as grass and the lake in the distance.Â
âOi, L/n, wait up!â You turn around to find none other than Sirius Black walking fast to catch up with you. His long black hair was half tied up, which looked rather nice on him when you noticed it.
âWhat are you doing here without your friends, Black?â You ask the boy. Heâs not really a boy anymore. He had filled out over the summer and his jaw had become more defined. Looking at him made your heart start to pick up pace.
âJames and Peter have detention. Potter set off a number of dungbombs in the dungeons and Wormy was caught with him. I think Moony joined the girls to help with homework. He didnât have anything to pick up from town, anyways.â Sirius explains this all casually. Itâs a rare day when none of the four Marauders are in detention for one thing or another. The older Black brother brings your attention back when he asks âFancy a look in Honeydukes with me?âÂ
You explain that you had to stop in there anyways to pick up something for Mary. As you both begin to walk in the direction of Hogsmead again, you reach up to pick out a stray flower petal that had flown into his hair. Sirius really did take good care of his hair, because it was very soft when you briefly touched it. As you pulled your hand back, his face looked slightly flushed and he was looking at you in a weird way. Like he was seeing you for the first time.
âWhat?â You question him.
He snaps back into himself at this. âWhat?â he asks back.
âWhy were you looking at me like that?â
âOh, I just... I remembered something I have to tell James at dinner.â
You donât ask him anything else, just continue walking into town. The two of you are walking so close by the time you reach Honeydukes that you can feel the swish of his robes against your skirt every time you take a step.Â
Not that youâre complaining.
When you had both finished picking out sweets and paid at the counter, you were quickly escorted out the door by the black haired boy and ushered towards The Three Broomsticks. The smell of Butterbeer was enticing, and it made you excited when Sirius sat you down at a table in the corner and went to order drinks.
Once he returned, the two of you began talking and laughing til you had stitches in your sides. As you walked out, you asked if he would like to join you to look for the book for Lily and get quills for Marlene.
âHow about i pick up the quills and iâll meet you back in the bookstore. Sound ok?âÂ
You agree and 15 minutes later you're in the charms section of the store looking through the books when Sirius joins you once again. This time with a box of quills tucked into his cloak. âThat was quick,â you comment to him.
âWell, I didnât want to waste any of my time with you, now did I?â he quips back. You blush at his words, knowing heâs a massive flirt wit practically any walking thing at Hogwarts. Sirius Black is quite possibly the most beautiful person you had met. He had long black hair, gorgeous grey eyes, and full lips. Sometimes, if you thought about it enough, it astounded you that you knew him, even more so that you were friends with him. People like Sirius didnât exist everywhere.Â
Hoping he didnât see your reaction to his words, you picked out the book and walked to the register. He was at your side in an instant, standing close to you again. You could smell the cologne he was wearing. It smelled fresh and intoxicating.
As you walked back to the castle, Sirius suddenly asked a question that made you stop in your tracks.
âSo, whenâs our second date?â he inquires with a smirk forming on his face.
You blanch. âSince when is this a date, Sirius?â
âSince I just decided it was. Anyways, back to my question. Whenâs our second date? If you want one, that is.â He is full on grinning at you now. You canât believe what youâre hearing. Feeling your face heat up, you look down.
âOf course I do.â you whisper just loud enough for him to hear.Â
If itâs even possible, he perks up even more at this. Wrapping an arm around your waist and starting to guide you back again, he says, âThat settles it then! How about lunch by the lake next week?â
It isnât really a question. Sirius is confident enough to not question that youâll agree.Â
You smile up at him, the blossoming trees behind him framing him in stunning pink and white.Â
âThat would be nice.â you respond, already imagining the girlâs reactions to this new development in your life.Â
Hogwarts was already turning out to be more beautiful than ever this Spring.
