Overall with this project, I think we did a good job. We faced many problems (like finding a space to film in, losing some of our music, having issues rendering the videos, etc.) and yet we managed to find a way around these issues on our own and still get what we wanted to be done.
Even though things could have gone better (if we didn’t have background noise, if we didn’t lose quality in the videos, if the game audio wasn’t as loud, etc,), we did well with the circumstances we were in and I’m still very happy with our project.
I would love to continue with this project by making more series and maybe some new things like streaming. I really enjoyed editing the videos and would really like to get into it more. I would love to be able to learn more about editing and get better at it. I think I will definitely be looking into getting a better editing software when I have the money. I also have so many more ideas and visions for the music for certain games, like Hellblade and God of War.
I do think we did slack a little in social media, we could’ve done a better job at posting more things, like behind the scenes, but I think our first time doing something like this it all just seemed too much to think about posting about it. At the time of filming and doing the project, we were very focused on doing it and making sure it all went well, rather than taking a step back and appreciating how cool the things we were doing are and then sharing that onto social media. If we do continue and make more series, I will definitely try to step back and take photos and videos of the things we are doing (behind the scenes) and share them onto our Instagram account. I do think as we continue we should then think about different platforms to have accounts on. For this project, we thought that Instagram was the best platform to have an account on, as we felt that it was more used by people compared to Facebook and Twitter. Though we should have had a tiktok account as that seems to be the better platform nowadays, but we only really had photos to share and TikTok is mainly video based.
I’m glad we made it a 5 episode series as we had a lot more footage than we had planned. The 1st Minecraft episode was an hour long in itself (before editing) which was the longest video. If we had more episodes, I feel like we would have been overwhelmed with the amount of work we would’ve had to do and I think it would’ve been too much work to be able to complete. At first, 5 episodes felt like it wasn’t enough but now after doing all the work, it was definitely enough.
I think the videos are entertaining, I tried my best to cut out pauses and where nothing much was happening, but in some parts we had to obviously leave some of this in for context of certain conversations or for what was happening. I’m happy we didn’t follow a script, we had a bit of a script for an intro but more episodes we filmed, the more we just made it up on the spot. As for the rest, I’m happy it wasn’t scripted as the videos show us being us and having a fun time with each other playing and talking about games. Nothing seems forced or scripted and it seems a lot better.
I did notice, when editing, that I wouldn’t always respond to what Ayisha was saying. I think this may just be the way my brain works within multitasking as I’m not very good at it, but I did feel like I may have come across as rude for not responding at times. I will try to work on this but I might not be able to solve the issue but just reduce the issue. I was trying to play the games, talk, plan in my head what to do next, listen to what ayisha was saying and check that everything is still running smoothly. It was a lot to multitask for me but it’s something I want to improve on if I’m going to continue doing things like this.
