he is home. it’s something he had never really thought he’d live to see happen. that comfort and familiarity would be brought to him years after he had signed his life away. he still feels the roughness of the wind against his cheeks, of time away and times changed being inked into his skin as he takes in the sight of his home. of the manor he had once spent all his life in. with no clue of the world outside of his own little, preposterous bubble.
and now, popped – he had seen what the world truly looked like. and it was ugly, a definitive color of black, grays and whites with no true meaning if one was so hungry for war and power. it was a world he didn’t want to be in. a world he knew he could no longer live in. it was a world where death had been tasted time and time again and would never truly stop until one’s last breath.
it was this breath that had wished he could take a leave for home. that had been more than happy to find his father’s call for him ; that his father was the one who wanted him near, once more. and at first chance he took it, vowing to never leave.
to never go back because, he realized – he, choi deoksu, was no man of war.
it is why, when tears are fresh in his mother’s eyes and his father’s hand is warm in his grasp ; deoksu feels that surge of familiarity and safety that had never consumed him in the years prior.
three years was a long time, and it was finally time to make up for all that.
starting with the person he missed the most ( well, second person ) –
a hand smooths along her hair; a kiss pressed to the crown before he pulls apart from the younger. she had grown taller, slimmer ; the planes of her face while last had held the last bits of adolescence were not slender and softer – that of a lady’s rather than a young girl’s.
“look how you’ve grown, ah – deokhye-yah, are you sure you’re my little sister?”
but always, deep down – deoksu knew, she would always be his little sister, no matter how much she grew in his absence.
he laughs, good-naturedly ; a hand raised to smooth the hairs at her crown, “that’s something i will promise you – i won’t leave, ever.”
Deokhye smiled through the tears that streamed down her pale cheeks as she felt his kiss on the top of her head, it had been so long since she had felt his love so she was going to cherish this small interactions with him, to keep them in her heart as one of the happiest days in her life since he was finally there with her. He pulled apart sooner than what Deokhye would have liked, if it was for her she wouldn’t have let go of him, not until she was sure that he wouldn’t disappear as soon as she stopped seeing him or overnight while she was sleeping, her brown orbs stared back at him, he was still him, she couldn’t see any sign of him having been injured before or anything and that was a relieve though the emotional part, Deokhye wasn’t so sure.
A playful giggle came out of the young girl, “Of course it is me!” she spoke with a playful tone aswell and a happy smile on her features, Deokhye didn’t think she had changed that much though it was true that she didn’t look like a kid anymore. “I’m still the same little Deokhye” She was more than pleased with his answer, her heart was finally at ease, “I missed you so much” She wisphered.
