‘LA VILLA’ BY MERCEDES-BENZ X SEMAINE

Shot by Mercedes-Benz and Semaine in a 1980 Mercedes, Damien Ravn is featured on their journey through the South of France to celebrate Festival Hyères. The styling of the shoot is created exclusively from the collections of previous recipients of the festival’s prizes. ‘Damien Ravn, a finalist of the 28th edition and the first ever Norwegian to Master graduate from the Antwerp Fashion Academy:

The AW17 collection was inspired by the Belgian cult cartoon ‘Les Cités Obscures’ by François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters, which laid the foundation for the colours, volumes and intricate constructions. Raw-cut and bonded, the fabrics arrive in hues of gloomy pastels through hammered stretch velvets, metallic lurex, flock neoprene and a stark contrast black latex.  -Damien Ravn

AMSTERDAM DENIM DAYS

Honoured to present the cross-platform collaboration between Studio Corkinho and Damien Ravn. Introducing the innovative new wool denim of Berto Tessile to the market, a unisex capsule collection was exclusively presented during Amsterdam Denim Days. Made of 70% wool and 30% cotton, the luxurious new denim challenges our perception of what denim is. Soft as wool and durable as denim, we let the fabric be the strength of the garments and underlined the cuts by utilising the selvage in the construction of the pieces. Contrasting it with raw-cut details, which naturally unravelled while stitching, each garment has a unique look, bringing out the texture of the wool.

‘06:24 AM’

Inspired by the iconic Belgian cult cartoon ‘Les Cités Obscures’ by François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters, a mesmerising utopian fairytale with an incredible futuristic scenery, anchored in past glory. Looking mostly to the streamlined contours of the buildings and applied arts, many of the pieces are rather voluminous, featuring meticulous pattern work and construction, subtly resembling the streamlined architecture of Art Nouveau in a contemporary way. Colours arrive in beautiful hues of pastel pink, purple, blue and green, only contrasted by midnight black, and the materials are confined to hammered stretch velvets, metallic woven lurex, acetate, latex and patent. Raw-cut and bonded, just what we love to do. Bridging the old and the new.
