Hurricane Drunk (Acoustic) //Florence + the Machine
And you canāt save me now,
Iām in the grip of a hurricane.
Iām gonna blow myself away.
Iām going out Iām gonna drink myself to day.
@damntahlia: sometimes spur of the moment tattoos are necessary.
Iāll do some research! But, there is no way Iām gettingĀ that big. Iāll partakeĀ in whatever else they do!
Or, you know, from what I hear the locals tend to smoke a lot of weed, so you could just do that while I dance my little butt off.
the ballad of Mona Lisa | Romeo & Tahlia
Romeo saw that playful look in her eyes, and knew immediately that she was up to something. He had seen it many times before when sheād let him in on her plans to hack into someoneās computer, or do something equally as crafty. āNo, donāt even think about itā¦ā He blurted out, wanting to stop her thoughts as they were rolling around in her mind. āWeāre not celebrating my birthday.ā
Then she gave him that pout and those big, puppy dog eyes, and his defenses went away. Romeo wasnāt known for compromising for anyone, but Tahlia had a way of getting him to open up to her, and as much as he tried to deny that she didnāt have that kind of hold on him, he knew deep down that she did. āFineā¦ā he replied, his resolve dissipating, ābut if you ever call me RoRo again, thatās the last time weāre ever speaking.ā He added, sarcastically, with a laugh.
When she told him the name of the song, he didnāt even have to look at the back cover to know which number it was. āYeah, track 3, itās one of my favorites.ā Romeo let the record spin freely as music began echoing through the speaker.
"There goes my only possessionā
"There goes my everything"
Jumping up with excitement, she clapped her hands and threw herself into his arms, "Oh my gosh, thank you! thank you! thank you!" Tahlia wrapped her thin arms around the boy's waist and squeezed him as tight as she could. "I promise, I'll make good memories with you and you'll like your birth-, that day again!" Letting him go, she laughed, "Promise to never call you that again."Ā
She couldn't help but let a smile creep onto her face when he said it was one of his favorites, "Really? It is?" She knew they were similar, but sometimes it was just weird how similar. The girl heard herself singing out the next few lyrics before she could even think about it, "I hear footsteps slowly walking..as they gently walk across the lonely floor, and a voice is softly saying.." She got carried away in the tune before she felt herself swaying along to the song with a giant smile across her face.
"āOh well, Iām almost in season five if youād like to join now."
"I will be right over? I just...ugh, that show is pure gold."
Make sure to keep me updated with your progress!
Oh, I will. You'll have to learn how to do those chants, you know that those Hawaiian dudes that are like, huge do when the girls dance!Ā
"Literally all Iāve been doing is re-watching Weeds. I seriously need a hobby.ā
"Literally, why haven't I joined you?"
Oo, Shakira! She is a fucking awesome dancer. Iām sure you can pick up on it easily!
You can find me practicing in my room for about the next two months!
the ballad of Mona Lisa | Romeo & Tahlia
"Well your dadās got good taste." Romeo laughed and watched as Tahlia danced around the room like a child. Heād always admired that spontaneous side of his friend. She was never afraid to do or say anything, and she was always herself. What you see is what you get, she told him the first time they met and countless other times throughout the years.
"August 23, 1994," Romeo replied, resting the disc on the record player and letting the needle fall into place, but not starting the music. "I donāt really like telling people because I donāt want to celebrate it. It brings up too many bad memories."
"Do you have a favorite track?" Romeo asked her, changing the subject while looking over the list of songs on the back cover.
"My daddy made me, so he has damn good taste." She smiled, remembering her dad. He was the only person she missed from home, though she hadn't seen him since she was fifteen when she went to visit him in Europe instead of going to her mother's second wedding.Ā
"August 23rd, noted." Tahlia winked playfully at the boy, telling herself she had to remember that, because she knew exactly what she'd be getting the boy for his birthday, even if he said he didn't want to celebrate it. "Well, how about I take you out for dinner that day, and I won't even mention the word birthday, and we can just pretend that it's any other normal day?" She pouted, "Oh, please please let me do that for you RoRo."Ā
Thinking, trying to remember the tracks that were on the album, she opened her mouth and spoke softly, "There Goes My Everything. Is that on there? I can't remember it was so long ago since I last...uhm, listened to it." She said trying to forget the last time she'd listened to it since it brought so many unpleasant memories back, but she couldn't let herself ruin a good moment.
I will definitely teach you when I there is an ocean or any body of water near us. I know how to dance too, but I all I know about hula is that you wear weird grass skirts.
Oh my goodness! Yay! That made my night, Leo! And I know the girls are like Shakira basically. I'm rather jealous that they can move like that!
They donāt, which is why we do it. I mean, itās really smart, right? One already did, you missed it⦠They also ran out of the motel screaming bloody murder.
Ugh, I'm kinda of upset I missed that. Why didn't you come get me, dang it! Next time you better tell me that this is happening!
the ballad of Mona Lisa | Romeo & Tahlia
Romeo took his painting of the Mona Lisa off the easel and set it down in the corner of the room, covering it with a small, white tarp. āYou werenāt supposed to see that yet, cheater.ā He replied, smiling, āYou know I donāt like people to see my artwork before itās finished.ā
Noticing Tahlia looking at his records, he walked over to her and bent down, removing a floor board from the hardwood and pulling out a small, gray box from underneath. āCan never be too careful with your personal belongings when youāre living in a motel with a bunch of convicts.ā He said, unlocking the box and taking out a dusty record, blowing on it to reveal the title. āElvisā Greatest Hits album, released in 1981. My grandpa gave it to me for my 9th birthday the year before he passed away.ā
Tahlia knew that his grandfather had died, of course, because Romeo told her everything. He had been the only person Romeo had been close with in his family, and Romeo took it very hard after his passing. His mother began ignoring him even more because she was sad, completely missing (on purpose or by accident, Romeo didnāt know) the fact that her son was sad too.
"Itās the last present I ever got for my birthday. I guess you could say it holds sentimental value." Romeo stood up and removed the black record from its cover. "Iāve never let anyone else listen to it with me, ācause it was sort of mine and my grandpaās thing, but Iām willing to make an exception this once. That is, if you want to hear it."
"Well, should've told me not to look! It was too enticing to just pretend I didn't see it, silly." Tahlia laughed as he hid the painting from her. "We may be convicts, but I don't think we'd ever steal from each other, you know? I trust people enough, 'least the one's that've been here a while." She said with a serious look, hoping that people in this place were trustworthy enough, and decent enough to not steal from one another.
Watching as the boy pulled out a dusty record, which appeared to be an Elvis record, she grinned. "I've got the CD version of that actually." Her heart felt warm in that moment, "My dad gave it to me when I was little for Christmas, and we just danced around and sang and sang for days." Remembering this, she couldn't help but imitate their dance moves, which were typical moves a six year old would do on wooden floors. Hearing him say the comment about his grandpa, brought her back from her memory, "Oh, yeah? I understand the box now." She knew about his grandfather, and the hard time that followed his passing.
The one thing Tahlia didn't know about the boy was when his birthday was, "Ro, when is your birthday?" She asked him nonchalantly after his words on how that was the last present he'd ever received. Giddy with excitement as she saw him begin to set the record in the machine, she nodded her head frantically telling the boy yes. "Oh my! I'd love to..." Grasping where her heart would be if it were outside her body, she had a genuine smile on her face, knowing the boy was serious that he'd never play the record to anyone.
It does! I already know how to surf, so thatās head start. We just have to know how to do that hula dance and weāll fit in.Ā
Oh my gosh, you have to teach me! I'm so jealous. I mean, I can dance...just not hula.
Weāve got it all figured out. Weāll be just fine.
Good. That eases my mind, seriously!
ā¦So youāre saying I should burn down the store and the post office?
Oh my god, no! Post office is a federal building, O! Don't do that!
