some reunion, huh ; kido
If there’s anything she could say, with certainty, that she regretted at this moment, it was that she hadn’t been wearing pants the last time she’d gone to school. Skirts don’t do much to protect your knees, unfortunately.
Pale fingers tightly gripping the stone window sill of a - thankfully - sturdier building, Ayano felt the aftershocks of the earthquake rock through her body as she watched a store further on down the road crumble into a heap of brick, glass, and debris. She hadn’t been in the city for very long, less than a full month, and though she was slowly coming to terms with the fact that no, this wasn’t another “game” that serpent occasionally tried to force her into, she couldn’t definitively say that she was any more content here than she’d been there. Her knees and shins were bruised and, judging by the stinging, a bit cut up, and her ears rang from the cacophony of destruction and screaming.
At the very least, she now knew that she probably should’ve stayed inside today.
The young girl squinted her eyes as she suddenly caught sight of a purple lump across the street, only a little ways away from the rubble of the now-destroyed building. Dust and smoke filled the air, and with the sky and buildings no longer providing any source of light, it was hard to make out what it was. A person, maybe? She couldn’t remember seeing anything that color before the earthquake began - if it was a person, she prayed they were alright. The lack of movement, from what she could see, didn’t bode well.
Her legs were about as steady as the ground, but even so, Ayano forced herself up to her feet and took a few shaky steps forward. There was a decent chance that the figure was a person, and it was just as possible that they were injured. She refused to leave someone on their own out here, especially if they were hurt - who knows what else might happen? Cupping her hands around her mouth, Ayano inhaled deeply, and tried to raise her voice over the sounds of destruction echoing through the street.
“A-Are you alright over there? Can you hear me?”

Having been here, coming back, it all felt like a dream. A weird one, one too real for Kido's liking as everything around her began to crumble. No time to catch her breath, to wonder what's been going on, Kido hurried to find shelter somewhere. A safe spot within a city that fell apart no matter where you stepped was difficult to find;, the road was covered in rubble and dust, faint smell of blood and screams coming from a not too far distance made the air heavy, suffocating.
How much time had passed since she left this city? Was she ever gone for good? Why was it Kido couldn't recall anything that happened before some strange force - yet again - threw her into this mess? Though, what was in front of her was on a scale foreign to Kido. Not that she ever wanted fate to be so cruel and give her experiences she’s much rather not have, yet there she was, running from one spot to the other. Unaware of what to do, where to go, where to look for anybody she might know, the girl's emotions got the better of her. Too many questions, fear, her breath running too short - it all washed over her like a wave, her wall - keeping a cool head like the leader she was - unable to protect the shore.
What followed was another blank. First everything was black, then red, then white, and when Kido came to, there was a voice she believed to be from a realm the girl didn’t want to be part of, yet. Despite the chaotic orchestra of whatever was still going on, the voice and footsteps that approached slowly, carefully, were all Kido could hear.
Did she die? Was...
“N... nee-chan?”
Was she seeing ghosts for once? Gosh, how embarrassing. Reunited with her sister after all this time adn Ayano finds Kido on the ground, hurt, causing hersister to worry. With a pained groan Kido got up, forced smile on her face. Her dizziness made everything blurry for a few seconds but she was certain still - Ayano was right in front of her. Well. Alive. In the middle of everything around her falling apart, her hero was right here.
As soon as that thought finally hit Kido, the girl’s body moved on it’s own, pain forgotten as soon as the other girl was being embraced by her sister. “Nee-chan! I’m... I’m okay! How are you? Are you fine? ... well, as fine as you can be seeing how this is going on.”
