An annoyed growl reverberated in her throat as she stared at the rusty metal door before her. Honestly, a place like this wasn’t much more than boring without the right company. That wasn’t to say she found Hibiya uninteresting of course, she just had assumed she’d be here with... someone else. Incidentally, that someone else had been relentlessly captured by an otherwise charming little girl, however given the circumstances, that little girl proved to be a giant nuisance in the case of today.
“You comin’, kid?” she said dully, looking back to Hibiya, pushing the door ajar and holding it open in front of him. “You’re not gonna wanna fall behind in a place like this, believe me. And there’s no way I’m gonna go lookin’ for you if you get lost.”

“Uh... Hello there?”
Ugh, how pathetic. After all this time, he still had virtually NO IDEA how to deal with kids. Every generation they just keep changing and changing and changing. How was he supposed to keep up?
“Eh, it’s nice to meet you?”
She notices nothing.
we’re playing in character kagepro cards against humanity AND YOU’RE TELLING ME I DIDN’T EVEN WIN THIS ROUND????
He doesn't want to repeat himself--after all the gifts he'd sent Kido over the past month, he finds himself more stumped than usual trying to decide on a gift for her. He settles on a handmade apron, with a similar motif to her hoodie, but--he wonders if something frilly is too cute for her after all. "Happy birthday, Kido-san," he says, handing it to her. "Um... I hope this is fine."
Despite the instinctive movement of her lips in preparation, her thanks dies prematurely as she looks at the apron, eyes wide as they blink. “You made this?” Nothing less than awe laces her tone, almost to the point of reflecting disbelief in her expression. There was no way this could simply be store bought ─ it matched the precious hoodie that’d been custom made, after all ─ and she did know of his talents in craft by now…
“Oi… you’re seriously really good at this, aren’t you?” Rhetorical as the question was, the praise came without a thought, even as she flipped the apron around and appreciated all the easily seen work that’d been put into it. “You must practice a lot… ”
After Christmas, Hibiya finds himself on an embarrassingly tighter budget even than usual--even if he was usually making strange crafts for people, this was true desperation, and so he holds out this gift with a sense of self-consciousness. "Happy birthday, Kido-san." Neatly wrapped are some clear jars, topped round cloth caps tied with checked ribbon--'tea', 'sugar' and 'coffee' handsewn in cursive to make their purpose clear. Hopefully she wouldn't mind.
The fact he recalled, congratulated her, would already have been enough. Kido appreciated small gestures a lot already, after all. But getting a gift, especially when on tight budget, moved her more than she wanted to let on. Hibiya surely would not have minded if she did, though. Also Kido only guessed when it came to the budget thing - she didn’t expect any gifts for her birthday, when Christmas was so close and felt like it was unfair to the others to do so. “Hibiya... you didn’t have to... ah, thank you so much!” Once again the leader was surprised, yet also figured she most likely was due not caring about her own birthday much to begin with. It was thanks to the dan Kido did, otherwise it would’ve been yet another normal day.
“These are amazing, is this self-made? You’re very skilled. I want to put them to use immediately, but I also don’t want anything happen to them... I’ll make sure to find a good place.” Carefully examining the gift, afraid she might break it, Kido was tempted to put them to use asap, but... well, didn’t want an accident to happen to them, either. After all, they were the only ones of their kind! For starters, they’d find a save place in her room.
He particularly wants to get this gift giving over quickly, though not for any fault on Kido's part--rather, the uncharacteristically dishevelled wrapping paper concealing this gift was the only reason he was able to look at it without feeling the urge to look away. It contains a pair of flip-top gloves, the mitten-like cover resembling a cat's head. "M-merry Christmas, Kido-san." Hopefully touching these things would be worth it.
Kido doesn’t blame Hibiya at all for wanting to get this over with quick. She can tell, she can relate. She’s a bit embarrassed herself, never expecting anything in return when handing out gifts so it comes as a surprise to receive something. The gesture itself already moves the leader, causing her to smile. This was enough for her to be awfully happy already, and she finally managed to express it. “Ah, Hibiya, thank you so much... merry Christmas to you as well.”
Slowly, she began to unwrap, noticing Hibiya looking away more and more the closer she got to fully unwrapping the gift. Yet she couldn’t bring herself to make this quick, to just tear the paper apart and take a full look at it later. As embarrassing as it might be. The leader’s cheeks flush a light shade of pink upon looking at the gloves. Did everyone agree on getting her cat gifts? Not that she minded, not at all! After all, Kido would never buy this for herself. “... these are adorable”, Kido mutters, not realizing she is already putting them on, obviously happy and overjoyed. “I’ll make sure to take good care of them.”
