"Embrace fear & fear has no power" said Jim Morrison. Heavy. But, he also said "Some of the worst mistakes of my life have been haircuts."
PIMP CLOSE & PERSONAL: What do DHP frontman RJ and teen pop sensation Victoria Justice have in common? OK, not much, except that Beetlejuice styles both of them, AND... they have the same vocal coach--Vincent Covello
Xmas Song Revenue Supports Operation Homefront 50 Cents of every purchase of RJ's new Christmas Song goes to Operation Homefront -- the premier service organization for veterans and their families. The song is dedicated to military personnel and their families and all families whose loved ones protects and serve on-duty during the holidays http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/rjcomer
PIMPS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL: Steve Carr (Sax, Clarinet, Flute) says “Everything I need to know I learned playing poker.” Steve is a dangerous poker player. If you think you’re up for it, ask to join his game.
PIMP CLOSE & PERSONAL. Meet DHP guitarist Jeff Jourard as he appeared in the 80’s. Lead guitarist for The Motels and many others, Jeff rocked it with style. No, he was in Stryper… he just liked their pants.
TGIF!! DanceHollers. Looking for something to get you through this week? We suggest watching Zombieland, it’s hilarious and any movie where a zombie is slain by a redneck wielding a banjo is gonna win us over.
UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
New Orleans show band Cowboy Mouth ground us with rock & roll molars, pierced us with ballad fangs, and swallowed us down like blues. We dress better than them, but their high energy show and eclectic repertoire set the standard for us. http://www.cowboymouth.com/home
Curious as to how we came up with our name? RJ turned to a 1950’s book in his strange and eclectic home library called The Dictionary of Underworld Lingo and came across “Dance Hall Pimp” -- the guy who ran taxi dancers (gals paid to dance on a song-by-song basis in the ‘20s) in a dance hall. He wasn’t a mean guy, he was a host. Well, that was it—we had a name.
What better way to get your week started then with an AC/DC song you can’t help but rock out to.
Jack White transformed the sound of roots music with his production of Wanda Jackson’s ‘The Party Ain’t Over’ in 2011. It came out as we were recording our debut LP and influenced us to completely re-think our approach. The layered eccent
ric sound of our record is directly attributable to Jack White’s genius work with Wanda Jackson. Here’s one of our favorite cuts—a cover of Bob Dylan’s Thunder on the Mountain
It’s Music Monday once again and this week we dedicate it to The King, ELVIS PRESLEY. What an amazing voice and performer; forget the dumb movies and the fat Elvis folly, on-stage for most of his career he epitomized rock and roll, and was amazing versatile.
We thought we’d change it up and start Music Mondays, and what better way then to share our video for “Beast For Love” with you. Enjoy.
