Realizing that we have a completely new character archetype with the introduction of Hudson in Frickbears 3.

Like with all of the guards & important side characters:

Jeremy’s the really happy go-lucky endless bout of motivation that either incites or instigates incidents on complete accident

Mike is the tired, really doesn’t want to be here straight man.

Vanessa is the practical, down-to-earth, other straight man

Fritz is the absolutely crazy, brilliant man, that may or may not incite every event that happens to these four.

Now, for the non-guard side of things:

Vannabelle is the energetic instigator of everything. Really perky and can lift people’s spirits easily.

Michael is the mysterious, straightforward practical guy, that actually can get a bit too ahead of himself quite often.

Clark Fixy is the very gruff, obvious veteran of the company. The actual straight man.

Fredsweeper Frank is the incredibly laid back instigator of everything (+ the singular video game aficionado)

And then there’s Hudson

The increasingly paranoid and unfortunately very traumatized guy that definitely kills bugs out of pure fear.

Like actively quakes in his boots at a lot of things.

Alongside 4 de-facto straight man we now have the paranoid guy.

Would that make it 5 straight men? No.

Why, you ask? Poor thing can’t help his own fears even though he steers the others away from danger!

Not 100% related to Frickbears, but I love comically evil William Afton.

Like making him the most bit-for-bit comically evil Disney villain-esque character is hilarious.

Of course, weaving this into him being seriously menacing and evil at the same time is an impressive feat all in itself.

Balance is a fun thing to work with for him. Or not. Depends on what you’re writing.

“Adventures of Willy A. & friends” is probably going to put him in a more comically evil light than “Murder Spree of the Yellow Rabbit.”

Here’s that idea I had:

[We wake up in Vannabelle’s perspective. It’s pitch black. We can make out a dark purple pathway of sorts.]

Vannabelle: Where am I?

[We pan out as she starts walking. The pathway illuminates into a vibrant, juice-like purple with each step. A rather erratic, giant eye appears behind her. Its eye color is lavender. Then a rat-like grin appears. Let’s call this figure F.]

F: Oh dear, she’s told me all about you…

[Vannabelle looks over to see it.]

Vannabelle: What the—?!

F: It was all your fault.

[Another eye and mouth appears, it looks rather gruff and tired. The epitome of “I don’t want to be here.” This one will be called M.]

M: If you would’ve just stuck with your friends and hadn’t ventured into that room, then everything would’ve been different.

Vannabelle: I’M SORRY! I—

[Another eye and mouth appears. Their eye is really just a white dot that moves. This is J.]

Jeremy: You don’t deserve forgiveness. You failed her.

F: My, my!

M: You don’t deserve forgiveness from her.

J: You caused all of this.

[Vannabelle, breathing heavily and trying to get away from these faces, trips and falls onto a much wider platform. The heartbeat in her head screams. As those three dissipate, two eyes and a mouth appear. It’s Vanessa’s.]

Vannabelle: PLEASE!! I WANT TO FIX WHAT I DID!!

Vanessa?: I hate you for what you did. You can’t fix it.

Vannabelle: I SAID I WANTED TO RECONCILE!! WHY ARE YOU MAD AT ME FOR BRINGING YOU BACK SO WE COULD?!

[The platform she’s on now has many eyes and even more stare at her from above. Vannabelle tears up out of terror.]

Vanessa?: I will never forgive you.

Vannabelle: I’VE CHANGED! I PROMISE! I GOT OUT FROM UNDER HIS FINGER!

F: People never change.

J: Especially people like you.

???: Look at what you’ve done to the world. You collapsed society. All because of curiosity.

Vannabelle: I’M SORRY!! I’LL DO BETTER, I PROMISE.

[She gasps. Then it all comes flooding back. What she did. How wrong she was to help him. It’s all her fault.]

???: Come back to me. You can leave it all behind. Help yourself.

Vannabelle: NO!! I DON’T WANT TO.

???: Well then. I guess you were really nothing but a pawn after all.

J: I never liked you.

M: Loud and annoying.

F: Which makes me think, have you ever heard of karma?

Vannabelle: NO!! PLEASE!! I WANT TO CHANGE!!

Vanessa?: You don’t deserve a second chance.

[The platform opens out from under her. She starts changing into something. But, before she can comprehend it.]

[Vannabelle shoots up. Gasping out of terror. She looks around, noticing that everyone around her has fallen asleep. Resting peacefully, even.]

[It was just a nightmare.]

Guilt is dream-like.

You don’t remember it, but somehow it hurts to think about.

Ohhhh, scary art, get scared I like to think of humans in Welcome Home as these creatures the puppets can't fully comprehend. You can come up with a LOT of existential horror scenarios with it and it's so fun.

You know, there’s a couple of really integral things ignored when it comes to people writing about Frickbears 3.

These things would be Mike & Mary’s relationship and Vanessa and Vannabelle’s relationship (prior to the events of Frickbears 3)

With Mike & Mary, I feel as if it’s not really gained enough recognition. It almost feels brushed off in a way.

In my perception, I feel as if their relationship is like a seesaw. It’s codependency. I would assume that Mary never really got to meet her parents and that she’s probably been with Mike (& only Mike) since being pretty young. Since their relationship is of utmost importance, I wish it was elaborated on in more fan works. And, considering what type of relationship it is, it must be incredibly important to Mike. Who knows what would happen if something happened to either of them, leaving the other to fend for themselves?

Now, Vanessa and Vannabelle…

Throughout the game, it’s heavily implied that they have history. HEAVILY. It’d be very nice if we go a fanfic exploring the inciting incident of what started it all. Or maybe even watching them reconcile. Even just a silly fluff fic. What were they like as friends? What did they bond over? Were they actually lovers instead? There are so many questions to be answered. So why hasn’t anyone answered them yet?

Nobody knows…

Anyway, I think that’s it for this yap session. I need to finish up on a Gorillaz thing in the next couple of weeks. I have three chapters left to write for it. Looking at the earlier chapters is not fun. They’re ROUGH. 😨.
