On not posting
Sometimes posting to my blog is a joy. I feel connected and like I’ve reached out to touch the world beyond my small life.
Sometimes I take days, weeks, even months off from my various forms of online communication. Because communication is not the same thing as community.
There are a lot of beautiful communities online: virtual hubs that center around Love and compassion rather than competition and keeping up appearances.
Nonetheless, the communities that nourish me are the living and breathing intersections I find away from my screens. I want coffee with a friend. I want a protest rally (like March for Our Lives yesterday!). I want to sing and dance with others and to stay up too late talking. In person, not on an app.
So here’s to NOT posting. And here’s to posting about not posting.
