titanofthe141 replied to your post:What is your relationship with Dom?
[I am overwhelmed]
[I aim to please ;)]
"Look at me and tell me what you see."
“Um…” That was a weird statement. “I don’t know what you’re asking me, ma'am.” She looked the woman over. Who was she? What was she doing here?
“I’m sure he’s just working,” she defended. Or hung over maybe. The thought made her smile. Oh, if he was hung over she was gonna be as loud as physically possible.
She glanced at the other woman when she mentioned her profession. “You dance at the clubs? Isn’t that a bit dangerous?” Pretty women and drunk men were never a great combination. She shook her head. “I haven’t been posted here too terribly long. But I’ll be here for a while.”
“Hungover also sounds a lot like Chris.” Jess agreed, laughing softly when War asked her if her job was dangerous. “You’re the soldier and you’re asking if my job is dangerous? You’re the one with the badass job of saving the world.” She shrugged, trying to be a little more serious. “I’m careful, the club has got some good guys running security and we make sure we don’t walk home alone at night. I’ve worked in worse places. But what about you? Enjoying yourself here? Sounds like y’know Chris pretty well for a start.”
What is your relationship with Dom?
“Y’know, I always say that I came to this town for Chris, but I stayed for Dom. And its not entirely that simple, there are other reasons and other friendships that have kept me here longer than the couple of weeks I first thought I’d stay for. But still, Dom’s been a big part of my life here. One of the first guys I met too, New Year in Ames’ bar and he was my New Year kiss, but since then, Dom’s been a real friend to me. He’s there to listen, even when it’s way too early and I’ve had a bad shift at work. I can literally appear on his doorstep with pizza and cheap beer at any time and he’ll be there, ready to hug me and listen to whatever mundane rant I need to get off my chest. Dom’s just... a safe place, y’know? The kind of guy who picks you up when you’re down and then sticks around to make sure you don’t fall again.
I guess the truth is that I don’t really know what our relationship is, but we’re good friends, I know that much. We flirt and we’ve kissed but any further than that and I guess you’d have ask Dom himself. I trust him though, and that’s not something I always do lightly.”
“I came to listen to your stories.”

“And which stories are those? Stories from back when I moved out to Ibiza for a season and the closest I got to DJing anywhere big was waiting tables? Or when I was working in Prague, leading guys on bar crawls for their bachelor parties?” She laughed quickly. “All the stories just back up the fact that my life is just a series of small fuck ups.”

“Nah, I can’t dance. I’m not one for music,” War practically shouted over the blaring radio. Some of the soldiers had cracked open some beers and cranked up the radio. “I’ve never danced before.” She did, however, take the beer that was offered to her.
“Aww c’mon, everybody can at least bop their head to the music.” Jess grinned, taking a sip of her beer and offering a demonstration to the younger soldier. She pouted her lips as she moved to the music, fulling intending to look as ridiculous as possible. “Real dancing is just about… I dunno, enjoying the music? Being free, I guess.”
War just stood there and watched the other woman move. “So…you just move to the beat of the music?” Jess seemed to be moving with the beat of the song, slowing down and speeding up along with it. “Ok…I can probably do that.” She took another long swig of her beer before moving to the fast beat of the music with Jess. She swung her hips and stepped to the beat of the song. “Like this?”
“Perfect!” Jess grinned, swinging her hips too. She lifted her arms into the air and shook her head, loving watching the woman in front of her open up slightly. “The more beer you drink, the easy it gets too. It’s not about how good or bad you look, it’s just about how much fun you’re having.”
Noticing the look on her face, Jaime couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed at her disappointment. Wasn’t it a good thing, he thought, being stuck on a roof with a handsome guy? Or at least not something to look so annoyed by? Well, he’d just have to make sure she didn’t regret it. “You can tell ‘em it was me that got it stuck,” he offered with what he hoped was a gentlemanly shrug. “Nobody that knows me’d have any trouble believin’ you.”
He was reaching out to help her with the lighter when he realized, with a moment of confusion, that he still had half a beer in his hand. When had he switched to beer? Probably Ames’s fault–bastard had a habit of keeping an eye on Jaime’s alcohol consumption. “Trade?” he suggested, offering her the bottle in exchange for the lighter. “Too much fuckin’ fresh air up here, anyway,” he joked. “Nice to meet someone else who hasn’t given in and switched to the fuckin’ gum. I wonder what other vices we have in common,” he mused with a grin and a raised eyebrow. “We could spend an hour findin’ out, you know, and I am just drunk enough to let you take advantage of me, if you’re interested…”
“That’s real sweet of you, but I’d feel bad y’know? Blamin’ you for something that was my fault.” Jess shrugged, taking a drag of her newly lit cigarette. She threw him an appreciative smile. It was kind of him to offer to take the fall for her, even if she knew that she couldn’t let him.
She nodded and took the beer from him, handing him her lighter in the process. Taking a swig of the beer, she looked at him curiously as he lit his own cigarette, his face lit up in a soft orange glow. He was a good looking guy, she’d give him that and being stuck on a roof with him wasn’t exactly a punishment, even if Ames would be less than impressed when she finally reappeared. Jess figured a bit of flirting would be OK, so long as she went no further. Sex always required a depth of trust for Jess that she just couldn’t get from a relative stranger.
“Awww, man, I tried the gum, really I did. But these things call to me...” She eyed the cigarette in her hand with mocking disgust before looking back to him. “And I’m weak.” She smirked around her cigarette, throwing him a casual wink. “As for taking advantage of you, I’m awful offended that you need to be drunk before you let me.”

“You don’t just walk up to a girl, hand her a bouquet and say, “Hey, remember me? We were kids together. Will you marry me?” No, it just isn’t done that way.”
“No, but that’s pretty fuckin’ cute, and I dinnae even like all that proposal shite. So, what did you say?”
“I was standing there waving my ass around in my underwear, so I said the first thing that came into my head. ‘Please don’t tell your Mom that this is where you found me.’ Somehow I don’t think that was the answer he was expectin’, but his mom used to bake me cookies and kiss me on the forehead and the thought of her knowing that he went to clubs like that one... made me shiver.”
[I'm going to be trying to work on Jess for a while and get a better feel for her, because I have neglected her for far too long now and man I need the practice writing civilians :p]

“You’re my very best friend.”
“We’ll always be friends forever, won’t we?”
“Darling, forever is a long, long time, and time has a way of changing things.”
“I’ll let you go this one time.”
“Those days are over.”
“If it’s the last thing I do, I’ll get you for this!”
“Why are you so freakishly annoying?”
“You don’t know what it’s like to be rejected and treated like a criminal.”
“I promise, I will never try to be good again.”
“It’s “make your mamas proud” time!”
“I’m bad, and that’s good! I will never be good, and that’s not bad! There’s no one I’d rather be than me.”
“If you die outside of your own game, you don’t regenerate. EVER! Game over.”
“I don’t wanna be the bad guy anymore.”
“News flash: neither one of us is getting what we want!”
“I should thank you. But… it’d be more fun to kill you!”
“Look down there. Tell me what you see.”
“You win. Come on. I’ll take you home.”
“But remember this, Pigeon, a human heart has only so much room for love and affection.”
“Haven’t you a family?”
“Aw, come on, kid. Start building some memories.”
“I thought you were right behind me. Honest.”
“Just name your price, dear.”
“Come now, I’m being more than generous.”
“I’m not sleepy. I’m hungry.”
“Why, I wouldn’t stay here if you asked me to.”
“All this has happened before, and it will all happen again.”
“This time you’ve gone too far!”
“I came to listen to your stories.”
“We’ve so little time; we sail in the morning.”
“You mean more to me than anything in this whole world!”
“It would be so nice if something would make sense for a change.”
“I was just wondering if you could help me find my way.”
“You may have noticed that I’m not all there myself.”
“Well, when one’s lost, I suppose it’s good advice to stay where you are, until someone finds you.”
“If I listened earlier, I wouldn’t be here.”
“What do you know about this unfortunate affair?”
“All ways here are my ways!”
“In my world, the books would be nothing but pictures.”
“What’s the matter my dear, don’t you care for tea?”
“Ahoy, and other nautical expressions!”
“It’s not *entirely* hopeless.”
“You look as if you’re in some kind of trouble.”
“You’re a cheap fraud and impostor!”
“Now, you will remember to smile for the camera, won’t you?”
“I’m afraid that you’ve gone and upset me. You know what happens when someone upsets me.”
“You should have chosen your friends more carefully.”
“Isn’t it clear to you? The superior mind has triumphed! I’ve won!”
“I was just wonderin’, are we good guys or bad guys?”
“I knew it! I knew this would happen! I tried to warn you, but no, no, no, you wouldn’t listen. You just had to.”
“You don’t just walk up to a girl, hand her a bouquet and say, “Hey, remember me? We were kids together. Will you marry me?” No, it just isn’t done that way.”
“Why, someday, you’ll be called a great hero.”
“Wait a minute. There’s a law against robbing royalty. I’ll catch you later.”
“Of course you’ve been robbed!”
“Surely he must know how much I really love him.”
“Ah, stop worrying. This disguise will fool my own mother.”
“I was hiding under your porch because I love you. Can I come in?”
“That might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.”
“I don’t want your help, I want you safe.”
“Won’t you please be my prisoner, please, please, please!”
“Why do I not have the surprised feeling?”
“Your mother can’t be with you anymore.”
“Don’t look back! Keep running! Keep running!”
“I have to do this and we are running out of time!”
“The ONLY way to get what you want in this world is through hard work.”
“You do not know how to have FUN. There. Somebody had to say it.”
“All my years. No one’s ever done anything like this for me.”
“You know, if you are going to let every little thing bother you, it is going to be a very long night!”
“So, we got ourselves a deal?”
“This is just a minor setback in a major operation!”
“I can’t believe that I’m doing this.”
dancewithjess requested a sharing a waiting room while they have loved ones in surgery starter.
She couldn’t help pacing. How long could this surgery possibly go on for? Not that she was a fucking doctor, but it felt like Dom had been in there all fucking day, and they hadn’t had any news at all. Eilidh was fed up with waiting, fed up with this fucking grey-walled room with its hard chairs and anemic landscape paintings.
At least Jess was here. It wasn’t like they knew each other well, but Chris had promised that having her around was a good thing, and Eilidh was choosing to trust him on that. And she was here. That meant something, and Eilidh was pretty certain that Dom would be glad for it, too. If he knew. If he wasn’t fucking unconscious on a table, somewhere beyond those double doors with all the warnings plastered on them about “authorized personnel.”
“Do you think I could sneak in there?“ she asked, forcing herself to stop pacing and sit down beside Jess. “Steal some fuckin’ scrubs and get past the nurses and shite?”
Jess was aware of Eilidh’s pacing in the corner of her eye as she sat in the waiting room, her head resting in her hands and her elbows resting on her knees. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to will away the anxiety she was feeling, but it was no use, not when Dom was hurt and shut away from her and all there was left to do was the fucking useless waiting.
She’d been travelling around for so long now that it was strange to have roots somewhere again. Sure, she still had her family back home, but couch surfing her way from town to town had kept the strength of her emotional attachments at a minimum, never keeping her in one place to get too invested. She’d never in a million years thought that she’d find some fresh roots in this small Scottish town, but somehow, thanks to Dom and Chris and Ames, she’d done just that. Now the thought of anything hurting those roots was just too fucking painful to comprehend.
She laughed softly at Eilidh’s remark, feeling every bit as anxious as she so obviously was. She felt her sit beside her and lifted her head, meeting Eilidh’s gaze head on. It was no wonder why she meant so much to Chris or Dom.
“Any good at spouting medical jargon?” She smiled although it was a weak gesture. “I wanna be in there, believe me. But we couldn’t help him right now, even if we wanted to. But I bet he’d be laughing at us pacing here like idiots either way.”
"Look at me and tell me what you see."
“Um…” That was a weird statement. “I don’t know what you’re asking me, ma'am.” She looked the woman over. Who was she? What was she doing here?
She raised an eyebrow at the other and chuckled a bit. Dang. Chris really did get around. He seemed to know a lot of women. Did they all come to the base? “It’s no problem. I’m sure he just got caught up in something.” She led her towards the base. “What do you do for a living?” She asked, trying to get a conversation going.
“Caught up in something or someone.” Jess smiled. Her comment wasn’t unkind, but she knew what Chris was like. Even after his big break up with Archer Chris was still easily distracted by anyone who managed to catch his eye, whether they be a guy or a girl. He’d been just the same back when they dated, except back then he’d only looked.
She followed War gladly, falling into step beside her. “Me? I pretty much do any job I can find. I DJ anywhere that’ll let me, but its not always so good at paying the bills. Right now I’m dancing at one of the clubs in town... its not the most glamorous of jobs, but it tips really well.” She laughed. “You been posted here long? I know you soldiers are always moving around.”
"Look at me and tell me what you see."
“Um…” That was a weird statement. “I don’t know what you’re asking me, ma'am.” She looked the woman over. Who was she? What was she doing here?
“Trying to work out if I could pass for a soldier, but from the look on your face I think I know the answer already.” She jammed her hands into the pockets of her hoodie. “I’m techically not supposed to be here, but one of the security guards at the gates is a friend and he usually lets me on base to meet up with a couple of guys here.” She gave the woman in front of her a sheepish grin. “Name’s Jess, by the way. Like to think I’m not old enough yet to be called ma’am at least.”
She shook her head. “You don’t look like a soldier. Especially not in that hoodie. And I say ma'am just to be polite.” She looked at the other before holding out her hand. “Nice to meet you. I’m War.” She would probably get in trouble for talking to her but she could worry about that later.
“Nice to meet you too, War.” She smiled, taking the other woman’s hand. Soldiers were getting younger and younger these days, but Jess knew better than to say something. “You’ve met Chris right? Seen him around anywhere?”
She smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I know him. I haven’t seen him around or anything today but he can’t be too far.” She dipped her head towards the base. “I can help you find him if you like. How do you know him?”
“I was supposed to be meeting him today is all, but I figure he’s got held up with work.” She laughed, nodding enthusiastically at War’s offer.”I’d love the help, this base makes my head spin. As for Chris... well, I suppose I know him the same way a lot of people do.” She laughed again, figuring that if War knew Chris, she’d know his reputation too. “We’re good friends, grew up together and then dated for a while. That was a lifetime ago though.”
