Guys I am going to see Taylor tonight đđđđđđđđđđ
HELP!!!
Guys!! I am going to SEE TAYLOR AT THE HALL OF FAME INDUCTION!!! How can I get her to notice me?!? I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!! Will anyone else be there?!?
AHHHHHHH
Long story short is holy ground 2.0
The lakes might be taylors most vulnerable song yet đđđđđ
So I stumbled through the Barbie aisle at Walmart the other dayâŚ
âŚand y'all, I almost cried. Just look at these. LOOK AT THEM.
So many skin tones!
PLUS SIZED BODY TYPES!
NATURAL HAIR STYLES!!! MULTIPLE SHADES OF DARK SKIN!!!
A WOMAN AS A DOCTOR!!!!!
IâM NOT DONE, THERE IS A PHOTO LIMIT!
LOOK AT THIS PROFESSIONAL LADY!
SO MANY SKIN TONES AND BODY TYPES AND LOOK AT THAT MERMAN!!!
FRECKLES!!!
Y'all, Iâm justâŚso so happy.
Iâm 35 years old and Iâve never seen a Barbie that looked like me, and then there I am as a Barbie in a purple sweater with thick thighs and evenly proportioned boobs and pink hair and a cat.
I can only imagine how other girls must feel.
Nicely done, Mattel. Nicely done!
Mattel also just announced some new Barbie dolls who have wheelchairs or prosthetic limbs!!!
Like screw anything calling this âpolitically correct,â this is what the real world literally is. And the worldâs population of children is just as diverse as its adults. Kids deserve to see themselves represented. As a disabled person myself, I canât tell you how much this would have meant to me as a little girl.
BRO HAVE YâALL SEEN THE NEWLY RELEASED ONES
IM SOBBING
YES YES YES THIS IS PERFECT!!!
I only ever saw the one disabled Barbie but their is at least two! And look a ramp!
the OP was made a year ago so for fun I went to check what theyâre new dolls were
Guys⌠Even being confident there would be even MORE added to the barbie range of dollsâŚ. I was not prepared.
I am about to image spam you so forgive but thereâs just SO MUCH
holy shit. Iâm like⌠not even a doll person and so many of these I want!
Thereâs LITERALLY too many to add
(who is she?)
Plus sized Barbie with DIMPLES
They actually have a barbie with albinism and bothered to give her a proper face-sculpt!
This one looks like she could kill me instantly if she made direct eye-contact
This oneâs smile is just KILLING me
Nubian girl because weâre not messing around
Also⌠this doll does not have any name on the product listing nor on the packaging so this might just be me butâŚ. help me out here guys⌠is this.. âŚ.is this a non-binary barbie? Am I presuming too much or is that what Iâm looking at here??
Also final note. Just to REALLY drill this all home, Barbie has some photos of kids playing with the dolls and
Ironically, Barbie did not come to play around.
Also Iâm obsessed with this Sally Ride doll
Barbie never played around, barbie played for keeps, why do you think she works so hard in so many fields?
if any of yâall think this is overkill:
i babysat the sweetest little girl who was in a hot pink wheelchair. it was almost brand new, and she was just so excited to finally have a good wheelchair!! the day i walked into the house after sheâd gotten it, she wheeled over to me with the biggest smile and said âit doesnât hurt my back anymore!!â
for her birthday, i got her a barbie doll who looked a lot like her (it was the one with vitiligo) and a little barbie wheelchair and a few other accessories because who doesnât like accessories?
apparently sheâd had a white doll for a while and of course loved her doll but when she saw not only the one with vitiligo but also the wheelchair? and she put that little doll into the wheelchair and pushed her around a bit on the table? she looked up at me and burst into tears, grinning from ear to ear, and murmured to me âsheâs like me. i didnât know there were ones like meâ and lemme tell you i nearly broke down right then and there and i gave her the warmest smile and hug i could muster up and her parents called me a few months later (iâd stopped babysitting because they didnât have money to pay and wouldnât allow me to babysit for little/free like i offered because i knew they both were searching for jobs and couldnât be around their kid much bc interviews) and they just thanked me, their daughter was âso happy to have a doll like her that she carried the barbie around with her all the timeâ. they hadnât been able to afford the doll and were actually saving up for a wheelchair at least.
this isnât overkill.
this is giving kids a doll like themself. this is showing them that they arenât weird or irregular or not normal. this is showing kids that others who are different from them, others who do have a prosthetic or a wheelchair or dark skin or vitiligo, that those kids arenât weird. if a little girl sees a barbie in a wheelchair, sheâll just think âoh thatâs my friend!!â and be exposed to the fact that these âdifferentâ kids are kids too, friends and acquaintances and not people to be mocked or bullied.
Also a reminder that the reason âBarbieâ is so negatively stigmatized in our society is because it taught little girls that they could be things other than stay at home moms, receptionists, or nurses, and parents Did Not Like That. Barbie was a radical doll when it was released initially and still is way ahead of the game in terms of inclusivity in childrenâs toys.
And now Barbie is stigmatised by feminists because the original, progressive intent behind making barbie was forgotten. And all these people can see when they see barbie is âit teaches that girls should only be girly thin models who care about shopping and fashion.âÂ
Barbie was always progressive. You guys are just shallow.Â

Ok here is my interpretation of the Cardigan video; buckle up Iâm going deep...
So, it starts off when Taylor gets a little inspiration and is writing music alone
The she suddenly stops singing while her voice continues in the background; sheâs gotten pulled into the story and her imagination.
She follows it into the piano, literally leaving our world and escaping inside of her music.
I also think the gold represents her real love and relationship; itâs constantly there in the music inspiring things, just like there are lines about Joe thrown into the love triangle songs.
So now sheâs in this beautiful imaginary world, lost in the fantasy.
The piano turns into a waterfall because sheâs so inspired the music is flowing freely and abundantly.
She goes even deeper into the story and climbs into the piano bench.
Side note, this could symbolize someone in a love triangle going to far or letting themselves get in too deep.
Then her fantasy world turns dark, just as her real world was turning dark in late May/early June. I imagine Taylor was feeling like most of us have been, and thatâs represented by her being stranded in the ocean.
She finds the music again (represented by the piano) and hangs on tight. The music saves her (just like folklore is now saving many of us mentally).
Then Taylor sings along with the song, while struggling in the water, for ONE LINE ONLY. She says âwhen you are young they assume you know nothing.â
I think this is a nod to whatâs happening in the United States and how the younger generation is getting pushback while trying to revolutionize things for the better. This moment in the video made me feel seen and I teared up.
Then the gold appears again, showing Taylor the way out. She climbs inside the piano.
Music was the way out, but her golden love was what really brought her back to reality.
Once sheâs out, we see Taylor getting reoriented and she notices the cardiganâthe outcome of all her daydreaming and creating. And the memory of where she went.
And then she sees someone. This is very much like the ending of the Delicate video and I assume sheâs seeing Joe.
She has a look of relief and recognition on her face, but she still looks shaken and scared. Because the real world sheâs just come back to is still scary and dark. But sheâs there with her lover and her music.
Okay but you canât compliment folklore while dissing taylorâs previous work because it was too bubblegum for your manly brain. The woman who wrote folklore is the same girl who wrote âso i start a fight cause i need to feel something and you do what you want cause iâm not what you wantedâ, âIâve never been anywhere cold as youâ at 16 and sheâs the same girl who wrote âyou paint me a blue sky then go back and turn it to rain. And i lived in your chess game but you changed the rules everydayâ about a grown man who dated her when she was only 19. Sheâs the same girl who wrote âso you were never a saint and I loved in shades of wrong we learn to live with the pain mosaic broken heartsâ. I could go on for hours talking about how great she has always been as a writer but i know you wonât listen cause you have a superiority complex, i mean god forbid you like something or someone a lot of âteenage girlsâ like, right?Â
Holy shit someone said my tears ricochet is about taylor and big machine/scott and the death of her masters and at first I didnât understand it but now after really looking at the lyrics itâs so clear. she is a GENUIS at crafting metaphorsÂ
In the preface she mentions an âembittered tormentor showing up at the funeral of his fallen object of obsessionâ⌠taylor was scottâs prized musical possession, but now heâs bitter because of their falling out and everything masters related. she embarrassed him and he clearly tormented her. heâs also probably bitter about all the success taylor is now having and how sheâs not afraid to tell him to fuck himself
âWe gather here, we line up, weepinâ in a sunlit roomâ = funeral for her masters?
âIf Iâm on fire,â you'llâ be made ofâ ashes, tooâ = if heâs gonna burn her you better believe sheâs fighting back
âEven on my worst day,â did I deserve, babe / All the hell you gave me?â = pretty self explanatoryâŚ.taylor was always good to scott, what did she do to deserve this?
âDidnât have it in myself to go with graceâ = she couldnât stay quiet and be the good, complicit girl he always tried to force her to be, she had to fight back
âYouâre the hero flying around, saving faceâ = scott running around trying to save his image and make her the bad guy
âIf Iâm dead to you, why are you at the wake?â = if heâs so mad at taylor why canât he keep her name out of his mouth and leave her alone?
âCursing my name, wishing I stayedâ = heâs mad at taylor and he knows he messed up and lost what made his label special
âWe gather stones ⌠some to throw, some to make a diamond ringâ = I could be wrong about this but Iâm guessing the stones are her songs? reference to sticks and stones break bones & possibly also how her songs put big machine on the map and made scott money hence the diamond ring?
âYou wear the same jewels that I gave you / as you bury meâ = taylor made scott and big machine big and now heâs turning around and betraying her by taking the very thing that made him. also jewels because taylorâs music is very precious and valuable to her
âI can go anywhere I want ⌠just not homeâ = she started with big machine and it was her home, but now after what scott has done she has to leave
âWhen you canât sleep at night (You hear my stolen lullabies)â = the stolen lullabies are her stolen masters. wow
Itâs also worth mentioning that one of taylorâs first big hits with big machine was teardrops on my guitar. back then, her tears were falling onto her guitar. now, theyâre ricocheting off of the guitar and back onto big machine for the pain they caused her
yâall i was watching blake mcclainâs video of him reacting to folklore and he said â1989 was like the sunset, reputation was the nighttime, lover was early sunrise and folklore is the morning, itâs all coming full circleâ
the lyric parallels between âspinning in my highest heels, loveâ in mirrorball and âhe didnât like it when I wore high heels, but I doâ in begin again and also âI am still trying everything to get you laughing at meâ in mirrorball and âI think its strange that you think I am funny cause he never didâ in begin again⌠wow
All Iâm saying is if it wasnât for big machine forcing Taylor to add more pop songs to Red, I fully believe Red would have been folklores identical twin
But like imagine if we are never getting back together wasnât pop and didnât repeat itself and was closer to like haunted lyrics idk I donât hate the song but Iâd pay for that version too
I agree!! Obviously those pop songs were career breaking for her and she loves them too- but I canât help but wonder if sheâs always really really wanted to make a fully poetic album like this.
OMG I THINK AUGUST AND SEVEN ARE RELATED SOMEHOW AND IF ITS AN EASTER EGG WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING ON AUGUST 7TH TAYLOR!?
this is probably something
also Jack Antonoffâs IG post ended with âps August foreverâ sooooooooÂ
That MUST be something
oh i bet
It makes me want to scream a little bit thinking Taylor may have wanted to make this kind of record ages and ages ago but was never allowed and that this part of her was suppressed for so long
All Iâm saying is if it wasnât for big machine forcing Taylor to add more pop songs to Red, I fully believe Red would have been folklores identical twin
anyone else still in the âbruh what the fuck do you mean thereâs a new albumâ stage
