• P R A Y E R 💟 • I have a notebook dedicated to prayers for myself; and this second one is for praying for others, writing down when God has been clear with me/what He’s done for me and a way for me to be objective. My spirituality is a BIG part of me, it’s at the core of who I am, and why I strongly believe in speaking life and love into people over tearing people down and making them feel worse than when they found me. This is not to brag, I’m human and I make mistakes, and it took a long time for me to actually learn how to learn from my mistakes and not repeat them. I believe in treating others how you want to be treated, it’s that simple. I even prayed for some people who have really wronged me lately, and that was hard, but handing it over to God made it worth it. Prayer doesn’t have to be “I’m on my knees reciting the Lord’s Prayer.” Prayer can be “I’m hurting and I can’t find the words so I pick up my instrument and play my feelings for Him.” Or “I really want to express myself but I don’t know where to begin, so I’ll sing Him a song I know can convey my feelings.” Or, if you’re like me, I express myself best in words, so writing down my prayers like a letter, or a poem, monologue or song ALWAYS does the trick. God knows us all individually guys, and the fact that the creator of the universe cares about how you feel and wants to talk to you about it? Fam, that’s huge; because He does respond back if you be still enough to listen. I love so many of you, and I don’t always get it right, but I’m trying, and with Papa’s help I’ll get there 🥰 Tell me some of the ways that you’ve find best help you express yourself to God, and if you’re not spiritual, some of the ways you express yourself best full stop. 2020, down with these fuckboys, energy vampires, frienemies, satan and accidental family members who make you feel like God was drunk when he made you. Screw them. You are here on purpose, if you wanna be great then you need great people close to you and being great isn't always pretty. That's why you need a solid soul family around you, and it's time we all realised that we're worth that shit.

This little light..

For about two years, whenever I've looked around and, all I've seen is pitch black. Sometimes, when people part of my soul family were around, there might have been a faint glow; bright enough for me to see, but not enough for me to be lead by it. When I was alone, there was nothing, and a small part of me became adjusted to this, adjusted to just existing; barely surviving and absolutely no thriving.

Too afraid, too tired, too wounded to let survival instincts and problem solving take over, I've just wanted to rest, I just wanted to recover, and I barely wanted to exist.

But today, something happened.

I finally found a candle and some matches. They were right infront of me, and I have reached out infront of me before and felt nothing, this time however, there they were, side by side. I took them and felt them in my hands over and over again, wondering if I were dreaming. Once I realised that I wasn't, a small sob escaped my throat. This sob in itself was dangerous, because if I allowed fellow sobs to come out I worried that I would be stuck.

So, I lit the candle, the motion itself of striking the match against the match paper gives me a quiet comfort. I love that sound. As the candle lights up the area around me, I catch the reflection of a mirror in the corner, it's dusty and cracked along the middle, but good enough for me.

As I approach it, it's like I'm looking at myself for the first time. Looking back at myself I'm shocked, and I feel so many things, at the world and at myself. I'm tempted to cry, but then I remember that I was able to find these matches and this candle and I'm holding because I trusted myself. I was gentle and soothing, anytime anxiety or frustration threatened to overwhelm me I took to taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I am capable, and I can do this.

I wipe away the layers of dust from the mirror with my bare hands, so I could see myself clearly. Looking through what was left of the dust and the cracks, I whispered to myself:

"Love, It's okay. Things have happened while you've been hiding away. Things have happened that have broken you, and left you wondering who you are and whether you are capable of anything beautiful and blessed coming from you. Because of this you stopped caring about yourself, you forgot who you were and you forgot that your worth exists in all parts of you, not just one. I promise, I will learn to love us better. I may not always get it right, but I will fight like hell to make sure I get it right more than I get it wrong. We can do this, and we're going to do it together, and I promise that even in the moments we relapse or mess up, I will still be here for you to love you through it. I am invested in truly loving you, self, and I want you to know who you are, who you really are. I love you, we can do this."

I exhaled, letting a tear slide down my cheek. As I wiped it away, and the residue of the dust from the mirror touched my skin, I smiled, put the matches in one of my oversized bags, picked them up and started walking.
