Things I think are weird about marriage

you can't marry multiple people? Like what???

easy to get married but hard to get divorced

disabled people tend to lose government benefits (don't know too many details about this but it's pretty stupid based on what I know)

you file taxes differently when you're married? what???

harder to have kids / less support if you're not married

unmarried couples are seen as less devoted / immature

it's expected that you marry a romantic partner and it's expected that the person you marry is the most important person in your life, these things Do Not Add Up

it's seen as weird if you don't love your spouse romantically

it's seen as weird if you date or have sex with people other than your spouse

Gender Census 2026: Asia-Specific Report

I'm planning on making an Asia-specific report for this (closed) survey (link is to results spreadsheet). So far, I've run into two issues:

Some countries are part of both Europe and Asia. While I plan on including these countries in the report, it is possible that the vast majority of residents may not consider themselves Asian, so if anyone knows of something like that happening, let me know and I'll put up a poll or something to get more data.

A lot of these countries I didn't recognize and had to Google. I didn't always look too deep into the results, usually only checking the top one or two, so if anything is inaccurate, let me know. This includes both countries on this list that are not in the list below, and countries on the list below that are not actually in Asia.

Found this in my sketchbook recently! I plan to recreate this digitally and complete it, but I'd like to do one centered around arospec identities before I do a general aspec one. Any ideas for specific flags I should use or how I should arrange them?

I may have overestimated how much I can read in 21 days... that's a book almost every 2 days. What was I thinking. I was going to get more except I couldn't carry them 😭

The 2026 Gender Census is now open!

The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
