Kikyou reflected in silence as she listened to him. Was it worth showing him that side of nature ? Science ruled this world, magic long forgotten or thought of as a myth. Many thought the existence of the supernatural was nothing more than fiction. And those who proclaimed otherwise, turned out to be charlatans or were made a mockery of. In a world of advancing technology, medicine and scientific breakthroughs, what sane person would believe in the after life? When the world was already filled with human monsters, who could fathom actual monsters?
Such common sentiments and beliefs benefited people like Kikyou and the organization she truly worked for. Her and others like herself, operated essentially in the shadows--with fake but traceable IDs, job descriptions and such.
Kikyou weighed her options, fingers sliding up to lightly tap the collar. She knew they were listening...They were always listening and watching. Did they /know/ exactly what she was capable of ? Did they know her actual identity or one of her many aliases ? Or was it simply her getting caught in the cross fires?
There were quite a few things to consider...Things she should have weighed out before opening her mouth on the subject. But at the same time, she didn't particularly want to hide things any longer from him either.
"...Give me a moment." Unfortunately for Kageyuki, Kikyou had to get up to retrieve an item from the walk in closet. It took only a few seconds to find her scarf before she returned.
"..Before you ask, I'll show you." She pointed to the collar, before wrapping the scarf around it..in hopes of limiting whatever visual aspects it had.
Cupping her hands, she held them out--and materializing out what appeared to be nothing..was a host of bright, white spiritual butterflies. They swirled and fluttered around, stirring the air and exploring the room.
If touched, they would feel warm and soothing..almost like a caress.
"Things that may seem impossible, can be possible. And things that were once possible, can become impossible. The world is dynamic and full of life..brimming with knowledge and unknowns waiting to be understood.", she stated simply, as the lights were switched off by the butterflies--leaving them to bask in their soft glow.
"That said..sometimes ignorance is bliss."
