rant about henry hart and leo 2012 because i read one henry danger one shot and am going crazy

seeing people analyze henry danger (specifically henry and how being kid danger affected his relationships and mental state) makes me realize that i am not watching things right. sure, its a kids show with a laugh track, but henry has an insane descent into depression kinda. like he sacrifices himself thinking he would die when he doesn't have to (he could have steered the blimp away from the hospital then jumped off with the parachute) which is kind of a suicide attempt to me.

i would say its similar to how leo (tmnt 2012) attempts to sacrifice or successfully sacrifices himself thinking he will die with the rough idea that "it will keep my brothers/family safe" but there are so many safe ways he could have avoided it. iirc he does this A LOT in s2 and s4 (ESPECIALLY space arc and post-splinter (the whole shredder fight... sigh)).

kids shows that (probably accidentally) put this kind of representation of depression and how far it can go are probably my favorite thing ever. i should start watching more shows that are just laughtrackslop but with my mind open to whatever i want. like qpr hensper and qpr jonatello. and whatever else i want. maybe 6000 more qprs

in i know your secret when henry and jasper talk about the camp they went to as kids and henry defending jasper from the bullies I thought that they were saying that was the day they met but ig not??? did anyone else think that??

not henry danger related but every now and then your childhood show gets a sequel movie/show and it should feel like the greatest thing in the world but the entire time you’re filled with dread because you don’t exactly trust it to be handled well

sometimes i think about when henry was young and found so much whimsy and joy in being a heroic figure, like when he played around as Kid Danger (“it’s fun to pretend!”) and how his thing was “gooodduuhh” and how even in s5, when his depression was so obvious, he was still elated over the fact that big foot knew his thing, like he was still able to find some joy in it, but. everything goes downhill, and his issues go untreated and unresolved, and he can’t find joy in it anymore. i need to watch the movie again, but man i don’t think i see a genuine smile for a good portion of the movie. he’s not happy

thinking about the blimp again because i’m never gonna get over that i’ll be so real. i’m also never gonna get over char and jasper in the mancave as the lower levels keep blowing up and they’re working tirelessly to help even though they’re all aware of the fact that the whole place is a ticking timebomb.

and im never gonna get over “im not leaving you” and “jasper get her out of there!”

idk maybe it’s the way jasper is standing there and facing the reality that the boy he has loved practically his whole life is going to die. that the boy he loves had actively chosen to take the option that results in his death.

and he can’t even stay on the line with him as he goes down, because he needs to get charlotte out of there. hes already losing Henry, he can’t lose Charlotte too.

but i wonder if it was jasper, if it was just jasper down there, would he have stayed on the line? would he have stayed, helpless and resigned, yet somehow content, in the fact that he would meet his death alongside henry. that henry would not have to die alone.

but then i think maybe the reason he went and grabbed charlotte would be the same reason he leaves the mancave. because henry would ask.

and if jasper cannot save henry from death—if jasper could not save henry from the bone deep devastation and helplessness that led him to choose death in the first place—the least he could do, he would think, is to spare henry a panicked end.

because if jasper stays on the line, then henry’s death wouldn’t be easy. he’d be guilt riddled and self loathing because he wouldn’t be able to save jasper.

and so jasper makes the ultimate sacrifice and breaks his own heart, betrays his own heart, to protect henry’s own, even now.

joss moss really had one of the worst birthdays of her life probably but charlotte definitely benefitted, especially since ray and henry also stole some of joss's presents in the end, and in my heart, charlotte got all those presents, she deserves the appreciation

Do you ever think about Charlotte looking at Henry later in the show and feeling immense guilt because she’s the one that told him about the job opening at Junk n stuff and seeing his face light up then was something she was so happy about but she would rather miss out on that chance rather than watch his smile and sparkle in his eyes slowly die out the more he gets into his job
