[ thoughts? // Fire Force ]
So I finally watched Fire Force the other week.
I figured why not? I’ve been seeing it a lot in social media for a while now and Netflix has constantly put it in my recommendations and has put it in like the banner thingy so I thought sure let’s go for it.
Watching it for the first time, even as I say I’ve seen in a lot in social media sites I don’t really have knowledge about it other than knowing the main character, Shinra, has fire powers and he’s in the fire force.
which I initially thought is weird because I thought fire force is gonna be about actual firefighters you know, like how they go about their work and day, what they do preparing to fight off fires u'kno with water, rescuing people and all that stuff. so having an MC with fire powers im like, wuut ??? but what can i say it’s anime
Just like Kimetsu no Yaiba, I wasn’t really into it during the first couple of episodes, actually it took me a lot of time to finish episode one because I was so distracted and I couldn’t focus.
But I pushed through I finished the first season in two nights and it was fun.
I would say that it is still kinda slow like how I felt with KnY. But unlike KnY, I liked that they took the time to build the connection with other characters and the divisions to sort of like get feel that the thing they are fighting for is a big thing, it’s affecting everyone, and people are genuinely will to help if you get your point across. Although I would say that it also slowed things down for me or at least it felt it’s slowed down.
Even though I liked that they made sure to show how these characters are bonding, the formula gets repeated through out. It starts with a new character and then Division 8 will get in some sort of a fight either caused by enemies or internally, and at the end the characters will come together and work with each other.
We only sort of break out of this cycle towards the end around episode 19-ish, where instead of the enemies attacking Division 8 they instead go for the enemy’s hide out and being in the offensive.
which was cut short imo but leaves for a second season to pick up from (which we already have!)
Another reason why I finally decided to pick up Fire Force is actually the first opening.
I play osu! and for a while I’ve had Inferno on my beatmap list and I actually really the song and I’ve played the same a lot of times now and tbh I’d honestly hoped they did what KnY did with Gurenge and kept Inferno the only opening for the entire season because I thought it was that good. Or they could’ve done what Kuroshitsuji did with Monochrome no Kiss, kept the same song, used the second verse (or not) and kept the visuals from the second opening because actually even though I didn’t like OP2 as much as I did with OP1 I liked the visuals better bec ahem more Arthur.
Speaking of Arthur, he’s actually let’s say the main reason why I pushed through with the series because I just love this guy.
Every scene he was in I was just 👌👌👌
I didn’t think he’d be a fave when first appeared boi I just find myself waiting for the next scene he’ll be in doing screencaps all the while. And that’s when I realized I adored this dork a whole lot.
And that’s it with Fire Force, I’m excited to continue with the series and get loads more of mah boi Arthur.
