“I don’t know babe, I don’t know what this means. I mean..- a late period. Of course I know what that could mean but..-” She staggered in her words. This could not be happening right now, with everything going on in her work, with how much she’d been bickering with Daniel. This was absolutely not what she needed, even the possibility was a headache- but now the possibility was right in front of her and for some reason she couldn’t help the big grin on her face as she looked at Daniel. “I guess we should..- I don’t know, I guess we buy a test?” She asked, her teeth gleaming as she wore a goofy grin.

Daniel hadn’t spoken for several minutes, trying to process what she’d just told him. He could barely even hear her rambling over his own thoughts. “Sorry, one more time?” He asked her, sitting down on the couch next to her. Late period. Buy a test. He couldn’t even remember the last time Ivy had her period. “You really think...?” He trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck. He looked over at her now, really looked, and realized that she was smiling. She was...excited? For so long he was in the mentality that having a baby was the absolute last thing he needed. He was too young and too wild to settle down with a kid like his best friend had done in high school. But they weren’t in high school anymore. They both had good jobs, they lived together, and they were doing the damn thing. All in all, having a baby shouldn’t be a bad thing. But still, for reasons Ivy could never know about, just the thought of it gave him anxiety. “That’s...I mean, that’s...” He tried to come up with something that was positive, but also as genuine as possible. “That’s a lot -- not a bad a lot, just...A lot for both of us. I mean, you know, the possibility of what that could mean, but...But if it was, I mean if you were...We should just buy a test, yeah,” Daniel agreed with a little smile, cutting himself off. He reached over and took her hand in his, giving it a little squeeze.
