Yoongi got me feeling some type of way
Min Yoongi
Yoongi is seriously one of the most amazing, hardworking, and humble artists I stan; I respect him so much. I know his parents did not accept this career, but he still held onto his dream and now look at him. I can only imagine how bittersweet he must be feeling now that his mixtape is out. Not only am I glad that he was finally satisfied with what he created, but I am more than happy that he allowed himself to open up and allowed us to get an insight on how much he struggled growing up and striving to achieve his dream.
His mixtape is just so raw and personal I can’t gather enough words to describe how much I appreciate it. I have not been an ARMY for long, but Yoongi has inspired me more in these 7 months of being a stan, than my other faves have in 6 years. I come from a musical background, so I appreciate music. Not just for the lyrics and the story behind them, but the way the music is composed (the transitions, the snaps, or claps in the background, harmonies, etc.) so I definitely over analyze and milk a song. This being said, I want a career that has to deal with music, whether it’s producing/composing, or performing. I didn’t realize this dream of mine until I became a fan of Bangtan, more specifically, seeing how much passion Yoongi has for music (of course, I know each member of BTS has a strong passion for what they do, but, for some reason, Yoongi had a bigger impact on me).
I may come from a musical background, but I also come from a very religious one as well. So, my family is extremely against dying your hair, wearing makeup & jewelry, listening to music that is not religious, etc. Although they are musicians themselves, they refuse to accept my love for other genres that have no relation to religion. In other words, they do not, and have no intention of, accepting my dream. I find it so ironic, but it is what it is. They believe I will get involved in sex, drugs, and alcohol, but they do not realize I want no part in that. I just want to write. I’m getting off topic, but I just wanted to thank Yoongi. I want to thank him for inspiring me. Inspiring me to strive for what I love. His family didn’t accept that he wanted to write music, and I can relate to that. But seeing how much he fought for his dream, despite the trials he faced, he was finally able to do what he loves, and now his mixtape is out.
So, thank you, Yoongi. For opening up to us and allowing us to see this side of you and speaking out about sensitive topics that other artists may not speak up about. It sucks being an international fan and having a language barrier because I will never truly be able to convey my admiration for you. Not only as an artist, but as a person. You continue to inspire me and although my dream is to be able to write music, my other dream is to be able to compose a song with you. Seriously, thank you for talking about your struggles. I know it was not an easy thing to do, but you did it. I know you put blood, sweat, and tears into every single track. It was everything I anticipated and more.
