I told this Joke to my extremely religious father and his first reply was “funny but don’t tell it to your mother”

I really can’t stand to see any posts about March for our lives
It’s just too bitter sweet for me. I can’t stop thinking about how black people had police in riot gear and military tanks show up to their peaceful protests with no news coverage at all
Whole neighborhoods were turned into war zones because black people said please stop killing us
Meanwhile predominately white children get to take center stage in national media coverage and no one as tear gased them yet. They get to speak to congress and actually be heard and not written off as worthless…
Look, I was at the march and if you think the military wasn’t there, you’re a fool.
If you think they only let white kids speak, you’re a fool.
All of these kids spoke at length about the disproportionate way gun violence affects their communities, so much so that it’s stopped making the news. I’m sick of the criticism I’m seeing from people who weren’t even there. The truth is that these kids knew that their march was mired in privilege (they talked about that, too!) and they used it to give POC youth leaders a platform to speak. They addressed problems with educational funding, they called out the school-to-prison pipeline that many of these cities have… And then I come here to see all of you cutting it down because “white kids” organized it. Are any of you paying attention?

Not accurate at all
In MCU, the rest of the world had no idea Wakanda was sitting on a huge mountain of vibranium; they thought it was the rarest metal on earth and that was all the US government could scrap up. It’s not even full vibranium in some versions
Bc let’s be real, if the US government knew about Wakanda’s vibranium, they would’ve tried to invade and seize it. Bc unfortunately that is the US
But leave Cap out of it on this one
Cap reflects the best aspects of America, rather than the worst. He’s not a personification of our actual attitudes and values - He’s an ideal for us to strive towards.
People say he should be racist, sexist and homophobic because he’s from the Fifties? He’s not. He served with people from all walks of life.
People say he should be overbearing towards women? He’s very respectful.
People say he should be violent, aggressive and over-reliant on lethal force? He’s not. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He just hates seeing people get bullied, used and dehumanized.
People say he took the shield from its rightful owner? Obviously the exact details vary from one timeline to another, but more often than not, it was given to him as a gesture of friendship.
Cap’s important, maybe today more than ever, because he demonstrates how much better we could be. That corruption, bigotry and evil are not inherent to human nature, but that they’re just obstacles that we are capable of defeating.
Just in case you were feeling discouraged.
Someone: “I want a cat/rabbit/other animal that will be super openly affectionate, go for walks, play fetch, not mind being handled rough, never be shy, and also I don’t want it to claw me or the furniture(so I’ll probably get it declawed) and I don’t want to ever clean a litter box or cage.”
Me: “Hey there’s this great new type of animal you might be interested in:”
Someone: “I want a dog but I don’t ever want to take it for walks or exercise it very much or let it outside and I want it to be fine with being left alone for longer periods of time and also never bark.”
Me:
Someone: “I want a cat or dog but I want to only feed it a vegan diet.”
Me:
Someone: “I want to have a pet but I basically never want to interact with it.”
Me:
Someone: “I want to get my kid a cute pet for Easter/Christmas!”
Me:
Get a pet that fits your needs. Don’t get a pet then try to force it to fit your lifestyle. Just because you saw a person walking a rabbit once doesn’t mean you can expect a rabbit to just be a dog. Just get a dog!

The further south you go, the further north you get. Directions mean nothing. You drive and drive and end up further away from where you were going than when you started. You only end up in the south (or is it the north?) by accident, and are never sure how you eventually get back.
Several times a year the tourists flock into your town, clogging the highways and the beaches and the restaurants. You look the other way as they wade into water that is just a bit cooler and murkier than it should be. What’s a few tourists, in the long scheme of things?
You see the Snowbirds come, the retirees that visit every winter to escape the cold. You have never met the same one twice. You stop asking for names.
You take a kayaking tour of the coast. Your guide whispers to you to be careful, says that the mangroves can be dangerous, warns you not to get lost. In the distance there is screaming. Your guide says that it’s just the local frogs, and you pretend not to see his haunted stare.
Alligators appear in every body of water. You hesitate to leave the bathtub unattended, never leave the dishes to soak in a full sink, but it does no good. They crawl out of the water pitcher, the birdbath, the puddles on your counter. You try to ignore them. They ignore you. You learn to live with them.
There is a Publix on every street, and you are glad. You love them with a fierce devotion you cannot begin to explain. When you visit other states, you feel empty inside, always thinking of when you can get back.
You do not believe in snow. You have seen it three times, on vacations up north… you do not believe in snow.
You barely even notice anymore when the hurricanes come, not until the air is heavy and yellow and the wind is strong. You think ‘oh’, and drive to the store to buy the third-to-last loaf of bread, and then it rains for 5 days and you eat canned beans by candlelight. Afterwards you can barely recall that it happened. Outside, there is a pile of woodchips where a tree used to be. You don’t remember why.
There is a man selling oranges beside the road, beside almost every road. You have never seen anyone stop for them, but there they remain. Someday, you think, you will buy some of those oranges. You never do.
In the distance, the clouds loom like mountains. You are not sure what mountains are, but you think they must be mostly like that. A handful of minutes later, they are gone.
