👀 Can you spot all the differences? 🙏🏼 Thanks, @victoriagarrick, for reminding me to post this reality check. #RealPost ➡️ Swipe to see the subtle differences. It’s truly terrifying the things anyone can easily do now and HOW believable the edits are. I’ll admit, I used to Photoshop LOTS of my pictures in college in some way (mainly my nose, but also my waist). I’m a photographer, so I knew how to use the software professionally. It’s weird, when I look back at photos of myself in college, I feel like I looked so much better then, but then I also remember - I hella edited my pictures, so even my OWN MEMORIES of my younger SELF are skewed. It’s damaging our mental health, our physical health, and our expectations of ourselves and others. It can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life-threatening behavior, and even suicidal ideation. Please feel free to donate to @afspnational in my bio. Our brain warps standards to LITERAL fakeness. Plastic surgeries to make patients look more likely filters are becoming more popular. You can argue, “There *are* people who actually look like that! Really? How many? Naturally or surgically? On Instagram or in real life? Have you seen how they look relaxed vs. posed? Up close or from a distance? Have you seen them sitting versus standing? So many questions that most of us can’t answer positively. But NOW, these apps are easily downloaded on peoples’ phones - especially young girls. AND especially young girls in sports who are badass & muscular and feel like they need to be thinner, that their thighs are too big, or their arms don’t have definition. We need them to know that their ABILITIES are amazing and their bodies allow them to do what they do. This has been and is getting more dangerous. Parents, check your kids’ phones for these apps (especially teenagers) Influencers & Celebs: we need to make these posts more often as a reminder to help keep social media a place of connection, not division and comparison. Everyone who compares themselves, you’re not alone, but do a spring cleaning of accounts you follow who you thought would “inspire” you but are actually toxic. Authenticity is rare these days. 🙏🏼 (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CclMd2LJIO6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
