Youāve been trying so hard to plan out things for your parentsā gardening market. They said you were on duty and were counting on you. Just that one sentence was enough to motivate, but also overwork you. If you didnāt please them, who knows whatāll happen? Of course you knew. Theyād hate you. At least, thatās what you thought.
You were sitting on Camiloās desk at around 8:12 p.m. You stood at the Madrigalās because your desk at home was already overflowing with piles upon piles of scrapped concepts and ideas, but also ones that were rough drafts and final products. You were tired, oh so tired. But did you care? No. You just kept on trucking, maybe then, youād receive something back. Like a hug or pat on the head.
Thatās what you strived for.
After hours of chewing on your pencil and having crumpled up papers around you, you heard a knock at the door, ā(N/N)! Can I come innn?ā Camilo sang. The voice immediately lit you up. You nodded as if he saw, āOf course, sweets! Come in!ā You beamed. The handle was turned, and Camilo came in and his mouth almost dropped by the sight of you.
Messy hair, drooping eyebags, your beat-up and trembling hands from gripping your pencil so hard. āDude, whatāre you doing?ā He scrambled towards you, prying you away from all your stuff. āWhā Hey! What do you mean? Iām just working,ā You said. āJust working? Look at you! Youāve been at it for hours,ā He said. You blinked. Hours? Wow, it seemed like you werenāt trying enough or long enough.
You dropped your head down in shame, exhaling, āIām sorry. Did you think I was avoiding you?ā You asked. Camilo sighed and climbed on his bed with you, āI did, at first. But it isnāt your fault. Donāt think Iām scolding you either,ā He laughed. You shook your head no with a smile. āGood, ācause I donāt want my lovelyā,ā He began, grabbing your face hard and smooching it tremendously.
āStooppp!ā You giggled, āāabsolute darling boyfriend to feel so bad!ā The curly-haired boy teased. He let go and laughed, wrapping you in an actual embrace this time. āBut seriously. Take a break, (N/N). Whatās making you wanna do all this work?ā He asked. You finally leaned back onto his pillow and tried to rest, āMy parentsā¦ They didnāt make me. Didnāt even say I had to do all this. I just donāt wanna disappoint them,ā You confessed. Camilo looked at you with worry. Has he been feeling like this ever since last week, when he started overworking himself?
āAwā¦ Mi Vida,ā Camilo began. He wrapped his arms around your waist and let you lightly nuzzle his shoulder. āIām so sorry. I know how it feels, trust me,ā He smiles. He gave you that talk before. His entire family used to be put under a lot of pressure thanks to his Abuela Alma. You donāt hate her, of course. But what she did was kinda sucky, so you tend to keep your distance from her but to the point where it isnāt noticeable.
āRest now, please,ā He said, almost like a demand. You shook your head drowsily, āNo, noā¦ I need toā¦ā You yawned. Camilo started putting you under your pillows and just pushed all the crumpled papers onto the floor. āI needā¦toā¦ā You fluttered your eyes shut. Camilo smirked and went under the covers, holding you like a stuffed animal. He pressed his lips against your forehead, āRest, mi amor. Goodnight,ā He said softly, pulling down on his lampās string to turn it off with a click.
