now all those rogues who used to constantly bug him in the living realm? he can order them to stay in the Ghost Zone. and by his will, the Infinite Realms keeps them there.

okay, so, hear me out: vlad and danny are different types of halfas

vlad is half ghost in the sense of similarity to spiderman – he never died fully like danny; sure peter parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and given spider powers; that didn’t make him ‘half spider,’ but it did alter his body and DNA so he could have those abilities. vlad’s DNA was altered by the ectoplasm contamination over a certain period of time, which is where his ghost transformation and powers came from.

danny is half ghost in the sense of actually being half dead; he had the ghost zone literally open up inside of him in the portal accident, and he really did die and come back to life, except he didn’t do it properly because he was only half dead (and also very much dead), and still half human (and also very much alive), which is a paradox within itself

Had an idea that I’m sure I’ve heard somewhere before but can’t remember where and I wanted to share it.

When Danny beats Pariah Dark and becomes the ghost king, it isn’t on accident. The Infinite Realms themselves wanted Danny to win. You see the Realms are made of ectoplasm which is notoriously known to give sentience or even sapience to just about anything. Inanimate objects, the souls of the dead, abstract concepts, and even imagined entities. If you can think it, there’s a good chance the Realms can bring it to life. What no one thought of before was whether or not this applied to the Realms themselves.

No one knows the specifics about Pariah Dark’s story. He’d ruled with an iron fist and had ruled for so long that no one remembered where he came from or who the previous ghost king was, or if there even was a ghost king before him. He’d been entombed for almost as long as he had reigned. This is all to say that by the time that Pariah Dark was released almost no one knew anything about him anymore. The only beings that might know something were the ancients or Clockwork and neither were very willing to share for their own reasons.

What is known is that it took all of the ancients working in tandem to beat Pariah. The combination of the Crown of Fire and the Ring of Rage gave Pariah nigh-omnipotence. The crown allowed Pariah to call upon the Tealms themselves as a well of energy and considering that the Infinite Realms are, well, infinite, he had infinite power at his beck and call. The ring gave Pariah complete control over all the ectoplasm at his command. These two points, combined with the varying powers afforded to ghosts, made Pariah near unstoppable. He was able to call upon the very fabric of reality itself to bend to his whims. The only, and I do mean only, reason the ancients were able to stuff Pariah in that box was due to the Realms themselves rejecting Pariah. The struggle between Pariah and the Realms gave the ancients just enough time to steal the ring and shove him in the box.

Cut to uncountable millennia later, Vlad releases Pariah from his box after stealing the Ring of Rage. Things happen and Danny ends up being the one to take on Pariah. The Realms, seeing Danny leading an army on his way to face the king one on one decides it likes him more. When Danny issues a challenge to Pariah the Realms takes the chance and makes the challenge binding. Whoever wins gets the title of ghost king. And, thanks to the Realms resisting Pariah’s control and Danny knocking the crown off, he’s able to just barely manage a win.

The thing is that even though now Danny is the ghost king and can use the crown and ring to gain infinite power, he doesn’t want to. The combination of the crown and ring gives Danny such immense power that he feels like and ant trying to comprehend the ocean. Sure the Realms are trying to guide their young king but Danny’s still just a kid and can’t tell what part of his thought process is the realms themselves and which part is himself. This leads to Danny gaining an “extra form” so to speak. There’s his human form, his Phantom form, and his High King form. He can only access his infinite power when taking on his High King form and often times prefers not to.

It says a lot about me that as soon as I woke up and properly looked at the date I was like "Oh it's Jack and Maddie Fenton's Anniversary." Like no lie that was my first thought. Not anything relevant to MY life, nope.

Jack Fenton forgetting his anniversary in one episode (ep 8: Prisoner's of Love) imprinted so hard on me I was forced to remember.

The Backrooms is just the infinite realms. Imagine this:

Danny chillin playing Doomed in a house with reversed signs. Then suddenly someone falls from the ceiling and lands in front of him. The being bounces once with a grunt. “Fuckin’ ow.” The person says into the floor. Just laying there for a moment. Danny pauses his game, looking at the lump of a slender man in a cape on the ground.

“You good man?” Danny asks, eyebrow raised.

“Peachy.” The human (?) said. They raise their head with a groan and look around. The person has shaggy hair and a domino mask over their eyes. They seem to scan the area as they get up. Looking at Danny, they ask, “where am I?” Danny cocks his head to the side. “The realms..? Who are you?”

“Red Robin. What’s the realms?”

At this the room shifts. “Well geez. Guess it’s time to go” comments Danny. He packs up a bag, grabs Red Robin by the upper arm and pulls him up and drags him behind him. Red Robin looks around to see the house changing into colors of yellow and shifting into what seems to be an old office space. “Wha-what’s happening?”

“The rooms are shifting. This part of the realms shifts a lot. The yellow usually means something is hunting nearby. I don’t fee like dealing with it and you seem like you need help. So, we rollin’.” Danny explains in a nonchalance way. Red Robin looks around in curious bewilderment. “Yellow… office…” the vigilante pulls on Danny’s arm. “ARE WE IN THE FUCKIN BACKROOMS?!”

Danny hisses at the noise and pulls RR against the wall and covers his mouth. “I said something is hunting nearby. And you decide to scream?! Your self preservation must be shot for a cap. Not even I’m that bad and I’m half dead.”

They go through a door and enter what looks like a bedroom full of space themed paraphernalia.

“Okay. Now. Give me the low down on how you got into the realms and we can get you back to where you’re from. Also, what the fuck is the Backrooms?” Danny says as he falls into his desk chair, booting up his clunky desktop computer. The fan spinning and whining to life.

Looking around the room Red Robin gets retro vibes from his point of view. ‘This all looks millennial’ he thought as he looked at a calendar hanging above the desk. “Um, dude, what year is it?”

“2007. Why?”

“I’m from 2026. What the fuck.”
