The harsh ‘shh’ cut right through the middle of Skylar’s sentence and the blonde was taken aback. Did… did that really just happen? Skylar could feel the anger begin to bubble beneath the surface of her skin, and she inhaled sharply, preparing herself for whatever was going to follow from the brunette’s mouth. Skylar was expecting some bitchy remark or something stupid, but instead she got an apology. The blonde cocked an eyebrow, parting her lips to ask for further clarification, only to be cut off once more by the explanation that she desired.
Instantly, Skylar felt pinpricks of anxiety cover her person. What was Bones saying? The fact that she couldn’t hear the two people that were talking to Danny gave her an insane amount of anxiety. What if they were just constantly talking bad about her? Or saying crude, horrible things? The mere thought nearly sent Skylar into a panic attack. But the softness in the brunette’s eyes and the sincerity of her voice leveled Skylar once again. She let out a shaky sigh and shook her head. “No, not at all. I’ve only been here for almost a week, I guess.” She said with a shrug. “I never got a tour. I actually haven’t gone anywhere except my room, the library and the cafeteria.” She looked up at Danny. “What about you? Are you a veteran to this place, or something?” She said with a small chuckle.
It was a bit unsettling that Danny had to nearly watch the friendly face implode over her foolish mistake of hushing her friend. That was something that Danny would never get over. When she spoke to them, no one else could hear them and it made her look rude, bitchy, and selfish. Danny wanted nothing to happen between Skylar and her. Skylar had been the first woman at Knollwood that didn't have a smart remark to response to Danny, and she couldn't allow that to go unnoticed.
Unfortunately it was bittersweet to hear that she had only been here for about week. Bitter because Danny believed that Skylar didn't belong here. And sweet, because then should would have the honor, if she allowed, to be the first person here to walk around with her. Danny immediately let out a bit of a laugh, "Well, I've certainly been here longer than you have. A bit more than a month. However, I know that there are people who have been here far longer than myself. So, to you, I suppose I could be considered a veteran." Her shoulders shrugged as she stopped speaking. Danny smiled brightly in her direction, "If you would like, of course, I wouldn't mind walking around with you until we find something worth our while?" She suggested, hoping the answer would be yes.
