When I was growing up in the 70s, a rich day meant riding bikes with friends, playing outside until dark, and coming home exhausted from adventure.
The older I get, the more I realize wealth isn't about owning more.
It's about having enough time, enough freedom, and enough peace to enjoy your life.
REAL WEALTH
When I was growing up in the 70s, wealth wasn't something we talked about.
We measured life differently.
A bike meant freedom.
A baseball glove meant possibility.
A few friends meant you were never alone.
The older I get, the more I realize that many of the things we considered ordinary were actually priceless.
Maybe wealth isn't about accumulating more.
Maybe it's about appreciating enough.

There was something special about Saturday mornings that feels impossible to recreate today.
You'd wake up early without an alarm. Grab a giant bowl of cereal. Turn on the cartoons and settle in for a few hours of pure happiness.
No emails.
No social media.
No endless notifications.
Just a simple routine that somehow felt perfect.
Then after the cartoons ended, you'd head outside. Maybe you'd grab your bike. Maybe you'd knock on a friend's door. Maybe you'd wander the neighborhood until you found something to do.
The amazing part is that we never seemed bored for very long.
We built forts.
We invented games.
We explored empty fields.
We played until the street lights came on.
Looking back, I don't think we miss those years because everything was easier. Every generation has challenges.
I think we miss how present we were.
When we watched cartoons, we watched cartoons.
When we rode our bikes, we rode our bikes.
When we spent time with friends, we weren't distracted by a device in our pocket.
We were fully engaged in whatever was happening.
Maybe that's why those memories still feel so vivid.
The lesson isn't that we should go backward.
The lesson is that maybe we should bring some of that presence into our lives today.

REMEMBER THIS.
We didn't need smartphones to find our friends. We grabbed our bikes, stayed outside until the street lights came on, and somehow created the best memories of our lives. Maybe the good old days weren't about the decade. Maybe they were about being present.
The thing you avoid is not the problem. The thing you avoid is the fear that the problem is bigger than you thought.
