it has been a year since this character first came to life, sad and broken, and unsure of who he was. in just twelve months, he has loved, lost, gained, and forgotten, and has gone through a journey of self-discovery and a search for happiness. now that he has found it and who he wants to be, it's time to say goodbye-- goodbye to who he once was, so that he can start again. he'll still be around, but no longer the same. if you would like to find him again? well, you won't have to look too far. ugh, so as you all must have noticed, i have not been very active as of late. when i am, my replies are subpar and are often forced, and i really feel as if i’ve been lacking lately. because of this, i’m going to be putting this account on hiatus for a bit. i don’t want to delete this account, so instead i’ll just be taking a break to regain my muse and will to write this muse as he should be written.

It has definitely been a while since she had last saw him, happy to serve him nevertheless in her humble establishment. Ever since returning to Seoul, where her heart and dreams was at; she had been in her cafe, greeting the familiar and new faces who visited her cafe. And meeting the younger man again definitely brought a wide smile to her face, what more when he had gave into her persuasion to try the new pastry item she had included in the cafe’s menu. Letting her employee taking over the front counter, she joined him at his table with her own cup of coffee; smiling widely seeing how he enjoyed it. “It’s religieuse,  a French pastry like a creme puff but this one is filled with mocha. I’m glad you like it!”

               Honestly speaking, Taemin isn't the best at keeping in touch nor at checking in on people, so he had honestly been surprised when he had stopped by the cafe weeks ago, and the older woman was no where to be found. Still, he's glad she's back now and as she makes her way over, he finishes off the delicious pastry he had purchased at the counter; just as sweet and fulfilling as she had promised it would be. "A religieuse?" A pastry he's never heard of before, but she says it's French and so his interest is definitely piqued. He'll have to make recommendations to a certain person for them to visit the cafe. "I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but this is very good. Thank you for suggesting it to me." He offers a warm smile, watching as she sits. "I'm curious, though. How have you been, noona?"

Wrong? He got it wrong? Jonghyun’s eyebrows furrow and meet in the middle of his forehead, a look of confusion crossing his features before eyebrows rise and disappear beneath his fridge. “Oh….my God….” A slow but eventual smile tugs at the corners of his lips at this, eyes widening and brightening at this sort of epiphany just hit him. “I’m wrong, baby. I’m wrong! Do you know what that means?!” Jonghyun laughs softly, hands lifting to squish his fiancé’s cheeks together. “You made progress! Albeit a small one but…. You moved forward!” The elder shakes and bounces in pure happiness and rambles on and on, comparing Taemin to when they first met to their present.

               His gaze is still lowered to the floor, taking in the pattern of the kitchen tile as he contemplates his sister's reaction to the matter, but then Jonghyun speaks and he lifts his eyes to meet his lover's, blinking at the expression worn upon his features. "Um," he's a bit confused by the response he receives, and he feels that Jonghyun is exaggerating a bit despite how amusing it may be. "I guess, yeah. It's not really that big of a deal, is it? I mean, I've had almost seven months to get over it." But he finds it endearing, how proud Jonghyun is of him, and he can't help but smile along with him.

Considering the fact he was taller than the average man he wasn’t all too concerned about others snooping around him. In fact, majority of people were far too short to even catch a glimpse of what was written on screen. An extra stretch or two would have them successfully snooping, he could only assume they were doing that. “Anyone standing on the tips of their toes, sure.” With a bitter tone he snapped down to the irritating boy by his side, his fingers quick to move over the screen and rid of the photo that once took over. “Don’t you have something better to do? Maybe minding your business would be a good start, don’t you think—kid?” Arching a brow he awaits their answer before taking a step forward, he was just so close to losing it.

               Maybe he had positioned himself at a particular angle a few feet away that happened to give him a peek of the device's screen, and maybe his keen eyesight had given him a pretty good glimpse at the naughty image that his gaze had lingered upon for a bit longer than necessary to be considered an accident, but that doesn't mean he was snooping. He hadn't boosted himself up on his toes at all, he swears. "Well, I wouldn't say that." He's asking for it, he knows, and he's half expecting to be met with a fist to the face as a foot steps back; hands raising in a defensive manner, eyes wide, and lips parting with a quiet laugh that fills the strained atmosphere between them. "Actually, I don't. But, uh," a pauses as a hand drops to delve into his pocket, tugging out a wallet that he had found on the ground, the face on the identification card matching that of the other man. "This is the reason I approached you in the first place. Is this yours?"

               He's tired; so very tired of trying his hardest and being told that he can do better. It's all apart of ballet, he knows, being pushed to one's very limits until you're running on fumes, legs numb and feet bleeding, and it's the pain that makes him feel alive when he's on the brink of collapse, but this is different. This is not the pain of being a human piece of art, gliding across the stage in a blur of lifts and pirouettes, but instead the pressure to grow as a person and as a danseur, though he feels as if he has met a brick wall; halted in his tracks and unable to progress any further.

His vision is obscured by the single drop of moisture that falls from his brow, but he can see his sweaty appearance in the wall length mirror that reflects the room he stands in, and he isn't alone. Hands rest on his hips, fingertips curling into the fabric that clings to his frame, and eyes travel to the older woman that stands next to him. According to her, being a soloist is not good enough. He should be a principal dancer by now, she claims, but he isn't so sure. He doesn't even know where this high expectations comes from, but either way, he doesn't see it. 

She has requested his presence after a long day of rehearsals, and while he's tired and ready to go home, he knows he can't deny her. He looks up to her, really, and he respects her opinions even if he doesn't understand them. "So," he begins, rocking a bit on his ballet shoe clad heels. "I'm here, you're here... What is it that you wanted to see me for, miss?"

“I have yet to see that,” Kibum teases, arching an eyebrow as he followed the younger inside. At the answer, he blinks, head tilting a bit to the side. He’s not even looking around the place to satiate the curiosity that is so characteristic of him when he’s faced with new things. “You settled down? Even bought a house? Wow… so this is permanent,” he stated, a smile curving into his lips slowly. “Congratulations on your decision, man,” he teases still, though the way he says it accompanied by an even wider happy smile can give away he doesn’t mean it as a bad thing, not even a bit. “How come I didn’t know of this before?” he pouted, though he wasn’t mad, he couldn’t when Taemin’s smile looked this way. “Is it the same person we talked about these past weeks?”

               He knows he shouldn't be so embarrassed by the apparent surprise that he receives, the tables now turned on him, and he makes an attempt to hide the way a light hue of pink sweeps across his cheeks as his gaze drops to the flight of stairs that he climbs, steps echoing off of the walls to fill the awkward silence that he leaves hanging between them. "Well, I didn't really buy the house, but it's in my name, and we're living together, so... Yeah." And they have been for a while, but Taemin is never one to open up so easily about the one that has captured his affections. His bashful gaze lifts now, and he only stalls for a second longer before continuing. Permanent? It is indeed permanent, and in ways that he's not sure he'll ever be able to tell Kibum.

"Yes, it is them. Him." A single nod, and his hand extends to push open the door that leads to the fourth floor, where the dance studios are. It seems that their minds are far from ballet, though. "His name is Jonghyun, and he's on billboards nearly as much as you are. It wouldn't be surprising if you knew who he was." And on television, and the radio... He doesn't typically speak of this for obvious reasons, but he knows that Kibum can be trusted, and he also knows that now that they've both found happiness in people after both denying the idea of love, that the elder male with understand him more than most. "You'll have to meet him. You'd like him, I think."

"Ah…. I was waiting for this. There you go again. Always overthinking things. Noona and hyung are most likely never busy and when they are, they’re always flying back home to check up on the palace or whatever." He waves his hand to brush the thought off, making his way over to Taemin with a small smile. "Are you genuinely worried about Sodam noona throwing a fit or are you just nervous about the big announcement, mm?" The elder vampire cocks an eyebrow at the other, arms curling around the small waist with a grin. "I think….it’s the latter. You’re probably thinking of how you aren’t good enough for me and that noona secretly doesn’t like you—" Jonghyun shakes his head, tapping the younger’s nose lightly with a wide smile. "But she loooooves you. Probably more than she loves me and I’m blood."

                  Perhaps he is over thinking the matter, as he often tends to do, but for once his lover's predictions are wrong, and he shakes his head as the elder male approaches him. "Actually, it isn't the latter." Maybe it's silly, but he feels a bit accomplished to have finally gotten over his fear that Jonghyun's sister dislikes him after six long months, an amused smile tugging at a single corner of his lips. "For once, you're actually wrong, baby. It's just... What if she thinks it's a bit early? Even if she likes me, she could still disapprove of getting married so soon, you know?" There's a shrug of his shoulders, but he doesn't resist the strong arms that curl around his waist, pulling him close as his head drops down to nestle into the curve of his shoulder. "I know it's unlikely, but... I honestly think a lot of her opinions. I want her to be happy for us, too."

                "You know," his lips are pursed in thought as his gaze wanders over to the elder male from where he stands, leaning against the kitchen island with his fingers curled around the edge of the marble. The surroundings, however, are not familiar. They're at the elder male's sister's house, and he still isn't sure if the older woman is going to appreciate the fact that they broke into her house just so they can throw a party for their own announcement, and maybe corner her into helping them plan the big event. "I'm not so sure if this is a good idea. What if they already have plans?"

               As he tries to remember the last time he visited the quaint, yet comfortable cafe, he finds it difficult to recall the last time he was here. Still, the warm scent of freshly brewed coffee is familiar, as are the paper cranes that bring out the uplifting element of the place. Yes, he's always enjoyed the cafe, and as he bites into the pastry he was talked into trying upon purchasing his coffee, he finds that he enjoys it, as well. Humming quietly, he catches sight of the acquaintance he came here for in the first place, and he smiles over at her as he swallows the bite down, the delicate creaminess lingering on his taste buds. "Ah, noona... This is really delicious! What did you say this was again?"

17. Drunk

             Seoul, despite being quite the populated city, is usually rather calm at night. The streets are fairly illuminated by the street lamps that loom overhead, and the full moon that hangs high in the night sky does a decent job in doing so in areas where lamps are sparingly placed. Months ago, he wouldn’t believe anyone could find any trouble within the city at night, save for a few drunken fools here and there, reeking of soju, but after the incident in which he was attacked and taken at a time such as this, he’s not sure if he expects anyone to feel completely safe.It's for this reason that he tenses when stumbling footsteps paired with the stench of alcohol seem to be approaching, and while he could easily fend off a bumbling idiot, part of him still startles at the memories such things bring back. Eyebrows furrow, and he walks a bit faster, more in haste of getting to his car which is parked not too far away. He could easily use his speed, but he chooses to keep that part of him hidden away, always one to revel in the humanity that still holds strongly within him.

However, the unsteady footsteps behind him soon halt, and there's a thud of a body hitting the cold concrete ground just as he reaches his black sports car, parked parallel to the road. Fingers delve into his pocket, wanting to leave before his paranoia and anxiety get any worse, but then he thinks of how cold it is and how the other person seems to have passed out, and when he peeks over, russet colored hair covering the drunken male's features, it seems that he indeed has been rendered nearly unconscious thanks to the liquor he must have consumed earlier in the night.After a moment of hesitance, he eventually gives into the part of him that always helps those in need, and he pulls his hand from his pocket with a heavy sigh as he makes his way over to where the incoherent man is lying upon the sidewalk. Crouching down next to his crumpled form, a hand reaches to gently shake his shoulder, and he gets a peek of the familiar face as he does so.  An idol, and one of the members of his lover's group, no less. There's a purse of lips and a shake of his head, and he then presses a hand to the man's forehead, clicking his tongue. "Hey... Are you okay? Let's get you out of this cold... I'm sure you don't want to catch a cold and have a hangover in the morning."

20. Dancing with themselves              When he first bought the little loft dance studio, he had hoped that it could be a place for them to spend time together and forget the rest of their responsibilities, but in all honestly, he hadn't expected it to be the case. Jonghyun is often busy, and even when he isn't, he isn't exactly much of a dancer. This is why when he pulls up outside of the two story brick building, old in appearance, he's a bit surprised to find the elder male's car parked in his usual space, and even more surprised to hear loud music vibrating from the second floor, though his keen hearing aids in this. Fingers press the button to release his seatbelt as eyes wander up to the panoramic windows, though he can't see in from such a sharp angle, and a plush lower lip is poked out into a pout in thought as he blindly reaches for his bag from the passenger seat and then opens the door, humming as he averts his gaze and exits the warm interior of the vehicle, stepping out into the cold winter air that bites at his nose and cheeks. Rounding the car once it's locked and the door is shut, he makes his way to the wooden door that leads up to the space, finding it unlocked as he enters and quietly climbs the two flights of stairs, the door creaking shut behind him. The music grows louder with each step, beat echoing down the stairwell, and as he reaches the glass, black-framed door, peeking into the studio, he can't help but smile. Indeed, his lover is dancing, and he seems to have yet to realize that Taemin has arrived. He chooses not to open the door, though, not wanting to disturb him. Instead, he remains leaning against the exposed brick wall, eyes forming crescent moons that mirror his adoration, and he simply enjoys the sight of Jonghyun enjoying himself, truly dancing like no one is watching.

It would be a lie if Wonbin neglected to accept that the younger’s subtle actions and response hadn’t bothered him, they did. He hadn’t realized the younger’s feeling on the topic ran a little deeper, regardless to how little they were in closeness. It was a process but they barely had time with their busy lives. And he found it hard to believe that Taemin had a way of greatly helping him. That and Taemin probably didn’t understand his position. He wasn’t just a cop and he didn’t handle petty crime affiliates.

"I don’t see how so. And I don’t think you know exactly what position I was in. This isn’t preschool cop crap." now that wasn’t an attitude he spoke with, it perhaps carried a little irritation but he was mostly speaking in dire seriousness. In the adjustment of his stance weight shift off his bad leg but his cane remained stationary. Now whether or not scared was the appropriate term, Wonbin just had concern for others, Taemin being one of those people. As for himself, he stared death in the eye on more than one occasion, lived around it even, he wasn’t afraid, not in that particular sense.

"I know you mean well—" and he truly believes that. There wasn’t a part of Wonbin who felt the younger didn’t have a good caring heart. Taemin wanted to help, that was clear… the judgement on whether or not he’d be making the right call to let Taemin in on the matter was still something he needed to weight out on his own. "…I’m fine—" for the most part. His leg bothers him from time to time, the healing process taking longer than he’d like. "Some days it’s not so bad."

A dark gaze is averted as the older male's words ring clear and firm through the space between them, and fingers curl into the fabric of his jeans within his pockets, put in his place. He has absolutely no right to tell Wonbin what he went through when Taemin has no idea, no right to tell him who to confide in, who to trust, and he definitely does not have the right to demand that it be him. What good has he ever brought the elder, in their months of knowing each other? If anything, all Wonbin knows of him is that he is a weak individual that can't even get himself out of bad situations, let alone someone so much stronger than himself.

Of course, none of that is the case anymore, but he doesn't know that. He wouldn't even believe him if he tried to explain himself. So, with a curt nod of his head, he lets the matter go and peeks up at the other man with a more reserved expression, though a small smile does manage to creep across his lips. "Well... Hopefully today is one of those 'somedays', yeah?" Eyes travel to the strong hand that clutches the cane in a way that contradicts his image of the man, and part of him is angry; angry with the world that someone he regards as a role model has been reduced to this. Why are good, deserving people always torn down in such ways?

It takes him a moment, a deep breath and a heavy sigh, to meet Wonbin's gaze with a quiet hum. "How about we go catch up over some lunch? Or, whatever. Just chat about anything, everything, nothing... I don't really care." A grin tugs at a single corner of his lips, and he's starting to let all of the ill feelings go, not wanting to spoil the time he's able to spend with the man that he, truthfully, has missed more than he would like to admit. "What do you feel like eating, hyung? It'll be my treat."
