“What have you done with my pills? I need them!”
‘ ——and if I do, but I just don’t give a fuck ?? What happens then ?? ‘
“Given my lack of physical strength, I suppose putting up a fight would be useless. All I can do is expect that you will be kind enough to return my pills--”
The sound of approaching footsteps announced the infamous vicomte’s arrival way before her blushing lady’s maid - a girl named Sybelle - came into the main room, where guests were usually received, to announce his presence. Édith sipped her tea calmly, already expecting the visit. She had sent an invitation letter only the day before, and was glad that he had been prompt in answering her call. “---Oui, do let him in,” she told the girl, who obeyed her with some hesitance. Clearly, his reputation preceded him even among the household staff, though that was not a problem that Édith concerned herself with. In fact, it was said reputation which encouraged her to write to him in the first place.
Though the two were acquainted, there had been little dialogue between them, if any. Édith could not claim to know him--only hope that he would live up to the expectations brought by what was often said about him, and if that was to be true, then he would be the perfect man to execute her little schemes against a family whom she deeply begrudged---a family which included her eldest brother and sister-in-law, once her friend in childhood. Her own reasons were too intricate for her to explain, but as it was, it wasn’t a custom of Édith to speak the truth, at least not very often. If he was as clever as she expected, and as vicious as most claimed him to be, he was likely to pay little mind to the veracity of whichever excuse she would present him.
The footsteps became louder and made a halt by the door. Physiognomist as she was, Édith could not help but notice the embarrassment in the figure of Sybelle as she guided the man into the room, but the comtesse, indifferent to her, stood up from her seat with a smile to welcome him with a small curtsy, as manners required. “Monsieur le Vicomte,” she greeted him in a welcoming voice, “thank you for being so prompt in your response to my invitation. May I offer you some tea?”
“It was lovely to meet you.”
Kay... Seriously now this blog will be back soon, I hope.
hi
' Well, there is that, but also because I'm more intelligent than everybody else. '

‘ ——and you believe this will work? ‘ he queried, all the more intrigued by her sudden outburst as it became clear it would soon develop into something highly entertaining. His evident boredom – over centuries, had led him toward this one and her many qualities it saw him enjoying the time he’d revolted against for so long. Perhaps she would teach him a thing or two about this new age that the world was living in. He had mastered a great many things over time but there were still many details he had yet to decipher. ‘ I commend you for your efforts in this endeavour, Madam. ‘
“Oui, of course it will work,” she spoke in a tone of frivolity. “you do not know me, bien-aimé, but I have mastered the arts of outwitting others since I learned how to speak. Ever since, I have only been defeated by one person, and that was my older brother, back when we were children. Though he hasn’t triumphed again since I was five.”
Édith then put aside the plate filled with strawberries that she had been eating, standing up from the couch in her boudoir and taking one last sip from her champagne, then walking over to where he was and stopping behind him, placing a kiss at his shoulders. It wasn’t customary of her to be so bubbly and light-hearted, but naturally the drinks were quite a help to achieve that sort of change in her. “And besides, it will be FUN.”

Me: that is it. the grudge has been formed and i will remember this on my dying day. ill see you in hell
Some secrets deserved to be guarded under any circumstance, he believed. Secrets that would shake the very foundation of a person, change their entire life around – secrets worth a lot of money, or a body or two. And Aramis had paid in the latter, more than once. Still he was capable of smiling genuinely, delighted of the company he’d found once more, and the amusement on his face merely grew at her mentioning a certain promise.
❝I do believe you’re right. Well—❞ He most dramatically stood tall, curious expectation displayed on his features, and he delivered the promised entertainment with nothing but good humour and undivided attention. ❝Your verdict then, Madame? And I expect nothing but the most brutal honesty, even if it might end my poor heart.❞
Édith made no attempt to disguise her laughter---unsure if the source of her amusement was the manner with which the musketeer embellished his words even with the most trivial topics, or if it was because someone claimed to expect honesty from her, although the distance in their social positions made it easier, and even more likely for Édith to actually take a shot at honesty. At least when it came to discussing wine.
“Aramis---you should b e a writer, monsieur, not a soldier. Your talent with words should not be put to waste,” she remarked, casually. “Oh, I do not think that it is proper for a lady to divulge about her drinking habits. And it has certainly been a long time since honesty hasn’t been expected of me, but if I may make an attempt at it... I have tried the wine, yes, I have tried it repeatedly just to ensure that it was indeed to my taste.”
( STRESSED! This semester has barely started and I’m worn out already. I need time off. I don’t know if I’ll be very active, though I will do my best. I don’t have many interactions going on right now but I feel an explanation is owed to those I have threads with. )
