dan smith being cute as usual.
Bastille frontman Dan Smith spoke to ITV News about his mother’s cancer diagnosis, running the marathon and London’s changing music scene.
I find this interview quite moving, with Dan talking about how he’s in contact with his family when he’s away and how tough it was to not be there when his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and then how he as a teenager never would have thought he’d be able to run a marathon; that if he can do it, anyone can.
but he also makes this face, which cheered me up more than anything:
“Joy” - Bastille
(Am I the only one who hears “Good Grief” in that chorus?)
@bastilledan: Our third album “DOOM DAYS” will be released on 14th June. We can’t wait for you lot to hear it. // It opens with ‘Quarter Past Midnight’ and charts the course of one apocalyptic night, finishing the next morning with a little bit of hope on the kitchen floor and our new single ‘Joy’ (really hope you like it). Looking forward to seeing what tracks you lot like the most.

Hello Slackers! The third episode of the Slacker Podcast is upon us. Thank you so much to everyone who has been doing the ol' rate and review merry-go-round, because of those the podcast has hit Nu...
On this weeks episode we have Dan from Bastille. He was the first person i approached (on a packed train) to be on this podcast, before it had a name or a premise. He brought himself into the fetish dungeon studio in Soho armed with a banana and a herbal tea and we talked about converted porn studios, Justin Bieber, straddling music genres, throwing warm liquid at festivals and lots of other bits and pieces. Dan also brought with him an early version of a song called ‘Alchemy’ which really gives you a sense of where Bastille was born from.
I get antsy when I haven’t produced content in awhile. I worry I’ll be forgotten. I feel like I have to keep buying my place in fandom with stuff like art and writing. Which makes it hard to produce content because that’s a lot of pressure to put on my creativity muses. So I sit here worrying instead.
Bleh.
“Quarter Past Midnight (Live from the Royal Albert Hall)” // Out Now
Thanks so much for all the questions. We’re going to answer as many as we can right now x
If you could go back in time and experience any event in history, what event would it be and why? By the way, you guys are amazing and are my idols 🖤
Dan: Aw thank you very much. i think it’d be interesting to go and watch the Big Bang happen. it’d be quite hard to find a good seat and not get completely ripped apart.
Will: The storming of the Bastille, just to be topical. Although they may consider us bourgeois pigs and give us the gelatin.
Kyle: Vesuvius, but from WAY far back. Just to get a real glimpse of what was going on.
new kyle & dan interview!
